How do these verses apply to us as Christian gamers? It means that games are a means to an end, and not the end themselves. Even while participating in recreational activities, the Bible says that we can give glory to God. If this sounds absurd, consider the Christian athlete who always plays according to the rules, refuses to take steroids, and openly credits God with giving him or her the skills to be an excellent athlete. Our love for Christ is displayed in everything we do, even how we play video games.
As Tribe of Judah members, we give glory to God through gaming. This means that our actions should show evidence of Christ's work in our individual lives; we are called to give Him credit for the many blessings He's given us. It also means sacrificing our time, giving of our talents, and demonstrating compassion to all people. Since Christ redeemed us, we are not our own, but His. Our love for Christ is possible because He first loved us. We demonstrate our love for Christ through worshipping him, but also by obeying his commandments.
These commandments include the Great Commission, in which Christ calls us to preach the good news of the Gospel and make disciples. To quote St. Francis of Assisi, "Preach the Gospel always, and when necessary, use words." We preach the Gospel through our witness as well as our words. The Great Commission also mentions discipleship, which means to teach the Word of God to Christians and help them develop their personal relationships with Christ.

Welcome to EvE, where 99.% of the population are know-it-all agnostic nerds; I can't think of a better platform for a God-loving corporation than this.

I sincerely hope this is a joke.
If not, then welcome to the game, but the moment you use this game as a medium for bible bashing expect retribution of the highest order from the community. The joy of the online game space is it know no race, religion, sex or creed. Anyone who wished to draw those difference in the game, highlight them, the line has been crossed.
**Warning**
You preach at me or anyone else in locals, be prepared to face people who actually know the Bible, have studied it as theology, and are more than aware of its contridictions, holes and more importantly repeated translation.
As an example, and my favourite, the old J Witnesses knock on my front door.
JW - "do you know what jesus said?'
Me - "Sorry, do you? lets see.. a document original written in Arameic, translated into hebrew (a language which had 3 different meanings for each word depending on how you said, which was lost as a language, then reinvented by jewish scholars in the 19th century) which was translated into greek, then into latin THEN into german and FINALLY english, and you think that somehow in this game of cosmic chinese whispers that what you read in your derivative of the James I bible is what Jesus ACTUALLY said?
and other such convos will occur..
Let people respect your faith, but dont try and preach it to others in a game.

Good luck, but I suggest you keep your own justifications for playing this game private. Most of us won't like seeing religious zealotry starting to invade a game, and we can make our displeasure shown...

You know, this would be absolutely awesome in the roleplaying sense. All the Christian gamers can be amarr and in a fleet battle the hand of God can come and smite thine enemies. (GM with a "pop" button). Although, the ships would have to be replaced and this would be reserved for April Fools Day.

I'm as agnostic as the next guy, and I get irritated when people ring my doorbell at christmas to tell me how terrible it is that people stop fighting wars for one day to celebrate christmas.
But why all the flames, if you people are really agnostic/atheist you should be at least desplaying a modicum of open mindedness, these people apparently actually believe in something and are ready to talk about it through a medium they think will be effective.
While I dont agree with them, and if they talk to me will probably block them, I dont feel any need to flame them.
Why do you?

I believe in God and in Jesus. I'm by no means a GOOD Christian but, concepts such as this one only serve to push people away from Christianity.
Furthermore, It opens the door to someone creating a corp named Hezbullah, or Hamas.......there go the Jewish Eve Players or is it the arabs or is it...........See? it opens the door for a whole realm of discontent and hate speach which does NOT need to invade a game intended for good fun. |
