Hi All,
I have been thinking about this for the last few years and thought I should finally make it public to get the community's feedback / CCP's feedback
In a nutshell: Being able to change your drones in your drone bay with ones from your cargo hold whilst engaged / in space.
I think this would allow for the use of E-War / TP / Web / Etc.. As well as your standard DMG dealing drones.
So in effect giving the pilot more tactical gameplay during PVP fights.
Lets say you can only have 5 drones max, you have your dmg dealing drones in your drone bay with 5x Web & 5xTP in your cargo. You can then drag and drop the drones stacks (or 1 or 2) from your drone bay to your cargo hold and visa versa.n++
Comments / suggestions expansion on the idea welcome.

what if I am in a frigate and can't move one about?
The idea is to expand tactics within pvp buddy. If you are not going to add anything constructive please don't add anything at all.

A mobile depot takes 50m3. It will fit in any ship, except for a shuttle.

See a mobile depot is 100m-¦ of your cargo hold. There are not many ships in EVE that cannot carry one. Frigate ammo is very small unless you plan a capital boat with your frigate you should have enough cargo space.
In case you do not have enough cargo space, you can carry a small container where you put that depot into.

Ships have drone bays that limit the amount of drones that it can carry into battle. This is done on purpose. This requires that pilots make some hard decisions about what drones to carry, what ships to buy, and when to start fights.
If you were to make trasfering from cargo to drone bays painless with shifting drones around in combat, then what's the point of a drone bay at all? Just let ALL ships launch from the cargo bay. Ships would still be limited by bandwidth.
Personally, I feel that drone bays are working as intended, and the only change I would like to see, is the ability to see the drones status IN the bay. That part has always confused me. Of at the very least, allow a show info to show if an item is damaged or not.
Hope this was decently thought out enough for ya. Still... -1

I fly drones ships and I would love this, however I can see far to many problems with balance and other factors for the PvP crowd so -1. |

Give it a one minute cool down to move the drones from the hold to the drone bay and I'd be happy. Gives you flexibility but not a tactical advantage in the middle of a fight.
A recovering btter vet, with a fresh toon and a determination to like everything that CCP does to Eve...

Well currently drone bay size is a balance factor to the ships drone usage. Cargo hold size is the same for various things. Everyone would have all of the drones all of the time and the idea of drone boats with their large drone bays to have more combat drones would go out the window.
Right now if you want that functionality outside of a ship built for it you have to jump through some hoops. This removes all hoops and gives all the drones to everything that can use them.

Actually you can't..... Mobile Depots are containers in nature and, as you may know, you can't put a container inside another container.
as for this idea... no! If you want to fly a ship with the ability of deploying different flights of drones then fly a drone boat instead. Otherwise, just make choices on which drones to carry in your drone bay and live with the consequences of your choice. |
