Tried three devices. All say nope! Then again it could be the internet here. A lot is blocked I'd guess. Eve Mail sent. Thanks.

Man, really hoping there's a lot more stories stacked up waiting to be delivered here in the next few days! Otherwise, we're going to have to start advertising at Fanfest to bolster numbers
Got another story submitted for this year (missed last year's somehow) and this one is very personal to me for a variety of reasons. I've been debating this story topic for just under two years now when I started thinking about it for the Pod and Planet Contest for 2012. The only thing that held me back was my limited knowledge of the lore but I decided to take a chance and go for it anyway.
Here it is: Perhaps Reborn
So exciting! Good luck to everyone!

Yeah, we had kind of a hard time getting the word out to people this year. But the stories are coming in at an accelerating rate as we got close to closing time. You guys are true writers-- the best inspiration seems to be a deadline flying toward you.
Great having both returning writers and new people in this one, by the way. Check out the Reading Bank for some really excellent works from previous years. Really surprisingly excellent, in my opinion. |

Wow, a nice pipeline wave of entries crashed down on the last day. 60 original stories total. The 8,000 Suns pushed ahead to the most entries; that ought to be an intense one. Who knows what kind of things are in there, but I'd bet it's interesting reading.
Day in the Life is close behind in entries, and as always, completely unpredictable in terms of style and substance. Very nice.
The Swear and Curse category evolved overnight, from a little chuckling corner, into a twice the poundage force projecting laughs into New Eden. Put your goggles on. :)
Next steps for the contest: Give the judges some time to read and think. While you're at it, read your entry and the other stories. Give your fellow writer colleagues some comments. Updates on progress toward prize announcements will be posted on the contest's Updates page.
Please don't forget the people who generously supported this EVE community event, ye writers. Give some of the love back, they're good ones. :) To wit: -EVE-Bet (25 bil ISK donation) -eve-games.net (5 bil ISK donation) -Crink (1 bil ISK donation) -The Angel Project (1 bil ISK) -Clueless Space Nerds podcast (1 bil ISK) one or more anonymous players (6 bil ISK)
Looking forward to reading! |

Hey guys! Missed the deadline for my own entry, but would love to get some feedback on it if ya'll got some free time and an itch to read. First time writing where I've tried my hardest to keep within canon whilst still trying to push the boundaries a little. This doesn't mean I want you guys to go easy on the criticisms, though. I take hits well, and even if I don't respond you can know I've read it!
Here's my story. I'm happy to receive feedback in the post's comment section or through EVEMail.
Thanks in advance to anyone who considers it. <3

Luckily I could still finish up a nice story for my entry. This time. |

Mind releasing an update when you've reached judging goalposts? Like, "We've reached the 1/4th mark," "We've reached the 1/2 mark," etc?

Small update: The judges are trekking through those 50 unknown story systems. I just reached the last point, and honestly, I wish there were more ideas, tales, and reading waiting up ahead for tomorrow. I don't know of any higher critique anybody could give to you writers. Do you?
I suspect judging results will be announced in the next few days. If you have time while waiting, here are 50 stories to read, think about, and give feedback as a reader/writer on. http://podandplanet.wix.com/podandplanet#!entries/cqnr It's a nice Epic Arc very well worth doing, I'd say. |

Update: The judges have about 80% of the scores in. Having the contest run through November wasn't the first choice (unfortunately), but necessary in order to have a certain notorious judge on board (fortunately), and getting some nice prize donations from kind sponsors (fortunately). And we ended up with 50 good entries (fortunately), which required reading and rating into the holidays (unfortunately). So, considering the judges' family/travel/holiday partying commitments, it might be New Year's YC117 when we announce winners. \o/ Source: Fortunately Unfortunately by Michael Foreman
While you're waiting, BBC News article, Good Omens: How Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett wrote a book How can two writers write a novel together? By both being very imaginative and cool. They really didn't know who what which in the end. Oh yeah! True to the spirit of EVE Online, I'd say.
I'll of course post updates here and on the contest page as soon as they happen.

Update: The stories have all been scored, but we have to do another quick round to break some ties. Since we're in the week between Santa Day and New Year's, I suspect the judges might be indisposed for the next few days. Shouldn't be much longer, though. |

Thanks Sam for continuing to run this contest - it really brings out some amazing stuff!
Thanks also to the judges for your participation and bringing a high profile to the contest - there is always a lot to read and I know you put a lot of time into doing so - thanks for the recognition but even more for the time and effort you put in.
Thanks sponsors for the great prizes that help Sam be successful!
And finally a huge congrats to Kirith Kodachi, I'm really happy to see him win this year after a bit of a disappointment last year.
Congrats to all the winners!
