Quick question that I can't seem to get answered in the rules book or this place. I might just have missed it tho.
Can you have your ships deal their ambush damage (assuming they're in ambush mode) and then choose to withdraw them or does using their ambush damage automatically mean they have to stick around for the regular combat?
Former is kinda thematic to ambushing, but seems a bit powerful no?

That's the way I've been playing Ambush. It's a pretty powerful defensive command.
As for powerful, you've obviously not fought an Oneiros or Guardian :) There's a lot of 'wtfpowerful' type cards out there that you would think are broken but seem to be as intended.
I think that as Eve players we're used to the pre-Nerf ;)

Yes, you can ambush first and withdraw on the same turn. Ambush is very good.

Well the ambush ability says. "deal damage at the beginning of the withdraw step. So we've interpeted this as, in the withdraw step, before withdraws are made. So this means that you do ambush damage and then get to withdraw. (since it doesn't say anywere that it prohibits this when using ambush.)
And yes it's a powerfull defencive ability.
And like hyg said, there are allot of "omgwtfpowerfull" cards in the game... it seems to be intended... _________________________________________________________

Indeed. I really hope that they keep a TIGHT reign on card drawing abilities in future expansions... -------------------------- Just here for the CCG. :) |

Card draw is less powerful in Eve due to the game having built in card draw via ISK skipping. A deck that generates a lot of ISK has essential built in card advantage because it can afford to skip more ISK phases.
That's not to downplay card drawing ability, as card draw is the key to any successful deck; but still, it's slightly *less* important to have a way to draw cards in your deck.
