Pre patch when someone would lock a ship that then cloaks, that person's locking attempt would fail. Post patch, if you start locking a ship which then cloaks you will be able to obtain a lock and decloak that person rather than having your locking attempt fail. Is this intended or is this a bug? (Could a dev please respond to this?)

Edited by: Randay on 24/08/2006 20:19:28 Nope this did not happen to me last night when I began locking a pilgrim and then lost lock after it cloaked. Maybe he just locked you really fast.
edit: to clarify, the lock was counting down and just before it finished, the pilgrim cloaked and the lock was not acquired.

he probably warped out before you got the lock. I tested this several times with my alt and a couple corp m8's and every time (unless they warped out before I locked em) they got locked. Run the test yourself if you dont believe me

It's also listed as a Known Issue:
- If a ship cloaks while it is being locked, the lock cycle is not broken. The cloaked ship will then decloak when the cycle completes. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I heard this rumour also. A Corpmate lost his Falcon when he was convinced he was cloaked and could not understand how he had been targetted. I heard that the pilot still sees his ship cloaked but the enemy obviously don't. If you fly Recon ships, don't worry, it's a silly rumour. If you don't, party on down...

Dunno. I think cloaks work better in this patch. My 5 ISKs. --------- In the blindness, a streak fiery thread violently cuts the horizon. Bleeding golden mists, engulfing the blindness from within. Burning the darkness. The touch of dawn. |

Ah I guess so, I did find it strange that the guy took so long to hit the cloak. Usually the ship stays around for a bit even after them hitting cloak and me not being able to target, but I figured that one was lag, but I guess not. Damn that means I was milliseconds away from a pilgrim kill due to the new "feature".

Thread in General
It was locked though, but contains confirmation experiments so still is kinda useful.

I love the moderator crew here. They act with absolute randomness and they're more often than not destroying discussions that would require some dev-input without the mod adding anything insightful. Maybe they'll get taught how to find out what feature can be called a bug without any dev-feedback so they can lock the more interesting threads. And yes, I want Sarmaul back here!
I would not be surprised if you could launch your CM from your bomber while you're cloaked.

i will test it with some SB later. If its the truth....well then there is no reason to fly a Stealthbomber, cause cloaking is its only defance (not that this ship was that great befor this Problem)
i hope they fix that sooner than soon!

I emailed the mods about this particular thread as it seemed to have been unneccesarily locked. The response I got, and this was from Abdalion, was to report the bugs properly and that Kieron's thread told us how to do that. I guess we'll have to keep those discussions here...

I tested it before the patch and I couldn't do anything at all apart from just sit there for 10 mintues, I don't know if it has changed. As usual there's nothing in the patch notes about it.

You can report a lot if you don't know if a change is a bugfix, a side effect of some other change or a true bug. If we reported all strange things we wont play EVE any longer. The entry in the known issues doesn't state which part of what's happening is bugged.
I know that you could not activate anything prepatch. But as I can't use the cynofield generator (no skill) I thought I'd ask so someone else tests this and reports back. I will test my bomber after the DT when I am back from some other duties.
I read in a post that probelaunchers eat all probes when you activate the launcher while you're cloaked ... --*=*=*--

it seems that it only happens when the enemy targets faster than 5-6 Seconds. After you hit cloak you are visible for another 5 sec, in that time missle fired my you will also do thier damage(this was the case even befor patch). Even you where visible for these 5 sec you could not be targeted. Seems they messed up with this "special" time. and it seems its the same with Bombers and CovertOps.

****! ******* ****! Now that that's out of my system, this is an uber nerf to recon ships, but not to most stealth bombers in regular situations like some on this thread have said, because stealth bombers can break the lock at 100+k with a sensor damp anyway. Of course, if you're one of those adrenaline junkies that fights with bombers at 30k and then whines with two new threads every day about how you lose tons of ISK, well, .

True, that's a serious bug that should be fixed asap. Somehow if you have lot of seconds left till lock (like 10 or more) the lock will break but anything from cruiser downsized will still lock you

Thanks for the link.
Either way, it's in the bug list for Dragon so it should be fixed down the road. I'll just leave my Co Ops in the hangar until the issue is corrected.
