Hello Everyone DaddyTacs here,
I have the unfortunate duty of telling everyone that my son Jeremy (Tacs) has passed on to another eve universe of a different kind. He passed away two weeks ago after a long battle with complications arising from his handicapped status. He played eve so everyone of us could enjoy playing with the same gusto that Eve incorporates in all of it's players. We will all miss him dearly 
I will continue to provide the same support that he did and try to play in the same manner that his free will provided to all of us in this fantastic game that he loved so much as a member of the Grumpy Old Farts
Also to all of the handicapped users that we have set up to play Eve. Support will now continue on in the same manner as before.
Thanks in advance for all condolences offered. He will be missed terribly by all of us.

But my condolances for your son if this event actually happened. Though I dont believe this is an entirely appropiate place for this kind of post.

Hey DaddyTacs,
Jeremy has been with us in Grumpy Old Farts for a very long time, and we all loved him, as you know... none of his physical limitation ever made him give up on anything in the game, and his will to live has kept him with us longer than all his doctors expected. His positive attitude has been a great example for us, and we've learned from him that even the worst situation can be turned into something good, you only had to believe in it.... none of us will ever forget your son. He will live on in the hearts of the people who loved him and played with for the past few years. May "The Gimp" rest in peace. Eve will never be the same again without him... my condolences and sympathy to you and your family.

It's very unfortunate to hear about your loss, and my prayers go out to your family.
Know though that he passed away enjoying EVE Online, surrounded by a supportive community. He wouldn't have wanted it any different.

I was very blessed and lucky to have known Jeremy. His amazing outlook and terrific sense of humor made me fall in love with him instantly. It was clearly obvious that he had excellent care from a family who lavished him with the love and attention he deserved and I credit his amazing dad with keeping him with us for as long as he was. Thank you for sharing him with us. There will always be a special place in my heart for Jeremy and your family.

Words cannot express the sorrow of all current and former GOF members at the moment.
From the entire GOF family à we send our most sincere condolences.
Tacs possessed the unique ability to bring a smile to everyone's face no matter what kind of problems we personally were presented with. Throughout the tales of wicked Wanda (one of his nurses), his personal issues with patch days, and his never-ending quest for more BPOs he personally made EVE a better place for me.
I personally hope to one day spend time with Jeremy in a better place. A place and time where the real world limitations EVE allowed him to overcome will no longer be present.

His optimism and enthusiasm will be deeply missed. During my time in GOF i found Tacs to be one of the kindest, generous and cheerful characters in all of EVE. My deepest condolences for your loss.

My condolences to you and your family, and in addition, to his two nurses Amy and Wanda who looked after our friend with such care.
After reading your mail DaddyTacs I am absolutely devastated as I know are the rest of his mates in G.O.F.
Personally I will miss how even on his bad days he could have a laugh and cheer the corp chat channel. His personality shone so brightly that when he was not on, his absence was always noticed.
I am proud and honoured to have met him and call him friend.
He will be fondly remembered, and sorely missed.

He enriched the Eve universe anyone that played with him cannot have been anything but touched by his humour, his enthusiasm and his drive to help those who were just starting in Eve.
Personally we shared many good times in Eve trying almost all aspects of the game at one time or another. For me the Eve-universe will be a little darker from now on.
My heart felt sympathies to his family and friends who were blessed to be fortunate enough to know him in person.

Everyone in GOF will agree... Jeremy was one of the most courageous souls we ever had the pleasure to have known. Tacs spent the majority of his game time for the past three years helping others. And rarely asked for help for himself.
He was very proud of you and GrandpaTacs and always bragged on the both of you. Obviously he got his strength of spirit from his Family.

First off i must send my appreciation to all that have responded to this thread. I did not fully realize exactly how many hearts my son had touched. Being a quadriplegate he was very limited in what he could do in Eve but what he did even amazed me not only with Eve but with every encounter he had online with online gaming. Jeremy was a perfect example of what being "online" meant to all of the handicapped people who enter this vast new world. Even though it might have been a nightmare to put bugs into the game to fix the bugs the game provided and then taking them out as the Devs fixed them ... I would do it all over again in a heartbeat for just having one more minute with him. I was never so proud of anyone in my life for what he did to help others and could only dream of becomming half of the man he turned out to be.
In memory of Jeremy i do have one request. He allways wanted to aproach the devs to have the name of the sector he hailed from from "Mandoo" to "TacsManDoo". it was a dream of his and i now ask the devs and gms to make this a reality. I will play his character myself to keep his memory alive and will never stray far from it. He provided free refining and at cost manufacuring to all that asked no matter who they were, I will continue to do this in his memory. His character is a top miner/refiner/manufacturer and will help those who are not skilled enough to provide these services.
I miss him terribly and your kind words although brings back the tears of loss helps to heal as well. I must give thanks to you all from the bottom of my heart.

Though I do not know you I would like to offer my sincerest condolences and respect to you and your family. Any loss of someone dear to them is hard to bear and a child must be even more so. p.s. in time you might want to try reading the Otherland series by Tad Williams, the main character is an ill child that plays a near-future online game as an escape and its about what happens to him and it has a very moving ending. Just a thought.

I never knew Tacs. Allthough i think i have read a thread for someone who was trying to modify eve so that physically limited people to get the enjoyment they should from EVE.
Nevertheless i always admired these people for their strength.
I want to say my deepest condolences but they sound like empty words and do not reflect the sadness i felt once i read your post DaddyTacs.
I wish you and your family courage and longelivity so that you can remember him and be proud for he really did something in this short period he spent on this Earth. Something that many can't say for themselves.
Wish i could find the words to express how sad this makes me feel.

I, along with many others whom laughed, joked and help escort his ships through 0.4 will sorely miss the 'Grumpy Old Fart'

I really feel sad when someone who plays the same MMO as me dies, well I feel bad when anyone dies, because we played the same game, lived in the same virtual world, experienced the same things. In some way, we had some sort of connection.

I have lived around the Ansasos/Bordan/Mandoo area for a couple of years. I spoke with Tacs and/or TicTacs almost everyday at one time, always pausing a while to give him chance to respond. Sometimes we conversed in private. He was a source of inspiration and wonder to us all. He even had advice for me when I was suffering from a dental abscess.
I had not seen this post before today but was only speaking of Tacs a few weeks ago, saying I had not seen him Log in/out for some time. Now I know the reason and I am saddened for myself that he has left us but I feel honoured to have met and known him, if only for a little time.
My sincerest condolences to his family and friends.

Although I have only a cold reading all this immediatly gave me sorrow and a very bad feeling for not taking my medicine, so he'd let me take it now. I did not know him, but from what I've heard he touched many peoples hearts. Now, also mine.

As a few people have said, I never met Tacs, but I've had a few similar occurrences in my life and they're never easy.
I wish Tacs peace, and hope his family and friends can overcome his passing and celebrate his life with joy.

As a father of 3 healthy children I fail to even come close to comprehending how much you have probably suffered and sacrificed with the care you have had to provide for your son. Daddytacs, you are truly a super hero in the real world just as much as tacs was a hero to many in eve and I'm sorry I never got a chance to meet him. I would like to offer you and your family my deepest condolences for your loss.

Tac has hopefully gone to the great beyond, but his style was one to be admired in the little game we call EVE. Something more people should learn from.
Only passed Tacs about three times in my on and off times of playing, but there was nothing ill you could say about the bloke.
Keep Tacs flying for us, and we'll remember him.
Not much else I can say that everyone has graciously said as well. |

As an ingame thief and scammer I would like to add my sympathy.....A loss such as this completely transcends the game and I am gobsmacked by DaddyTacs fortitude in continuing the game in his son's name.
I gve my own son an extra hug tonight. He has a disability but thankfully not a terminal condition. I thought hard on the things that REALLY matter....I wish DaddyTacs all the very best.

This filles me with sadness, I`m late, i was on a break, but he was a mate and i still wanna contribute.

Tacs is still touching lives. I teach and in one of my workshops i tell Tacs`s story in eve, to explain how virtual reality can enrich lives.
Tacs, it was an honour to fly with you and it was fun, fly safe....

My thoughts are with you and your family, we lost our 11 year old son to cancer 5 years ago, it would have been his birthday on the 3rd of August, so we have a very large party every year to celebrate his life and raise a little cash for Candlelighters. They helped us greatly, perhaps there's a charity close to your heart that people could contribute?
