Best anti-pirate work I've seen is a single man taking on a small 12 man corp. Went into the lowsec they frequented and hunted one down, killed him. After that the corp was after him and all he had to do was wait.

Phillip you should first learn to setup your ships. Also destroyers arn't very good at PVP.Or well i've never lost a t1 frigate to them.
Once you learn how to setup your ships find out what targets would be best.Set traps and the like.
Don't just run in and hope to kill every pirate. You need to learn abit about your ship before you go out and destroy others. ---
CCP where are our t2 shield power relays?

I think I liked the higher damage multiplier of lasers. Had been refitting it with rails though, just wasnt done yet.
Didnt matter though - it was a Gate Camp and I never got to fire a shot.
As for why in a Catalyst to begin with - someone said some pirates use Frigates. Was looking for some of those...
In a Vexxor now and think I will wait for a Battlewagon before I do much low sec cruising heh.

0.0 would be pointless for what you are trying to do i.e. fly around 30 systems and see 1 person
Before trying to fly a bs after a month, stay with frigs or cruisers if you can afford. No doubt you will have your *** handed back to you on a platter many a time over, and losing 80-90 mil a pop aint good. You could fit a good t1 frig including the ship and fittings for 1-2 mil. Good luck, youve got one hell of a task

How would I lose in minutes in a BS? And if I wait for more skills dont I just get nailed by the same people who have BSs now and spent the same amount of time adding more skills themselves?
And how do I do better in a Frigate than I did in the Destroyer? The destroyer was twice as large and well armed?
Apparently I am confused, if the hardware isnt everything then what is? And if its skills then what am I supposed to do for the X months of training waiting for them? Play another game? And how do I EVER compete with those who have been playing and adding skills longer than I?

I think they mean that as a newer player(and any player for that matter) you will lose alot of ships, and to start out using frigates as they are not too expensive to replace.
The Battleship is the bomb though, but to each his own.

As far as Destroyers go, most people seem to see them as gang ships if anything. They don't have much of a tank, and they also don't have the speed/sig advantages of a Frigate. But somebody with some actual Destroyer experience can help you out there.
RE: catching up with older players. You don't really, but you don't need to. If you want to solo, just specialize in a certain ship class. Pretty soon you'll be nearly as good or better in it than a lot of older players...at least as far as skill points go. That's what I'm doing with Frigs and Cruisers, though from the pirate side.
But it being a MMO, a lot of people solve the problem by teaming up. * * * In the beginning the Universe was created. This has made a lot of people very angry and been widely regarded as a bad move.

Mara/Dantumi/Passari are a good trio of systems to start in, they are also just a few jumps from placid, keep your clone updated and fly cheap ships to gain experience, dont expect to be harvesting huge bounties straight away.
Most importantly, have fun in what you are doing, you pay to play afterall.

Pirates are some of the most battle hardened and expirienced players in EvE, in my opinion -the- most, they rarely had a commander telling them what to shoot or the backing of billions of ISK, they made their isk the hard way and grew tough because of it.
Now if you want frigate pirates, dont bother, the other pirates like me kill them all long before you'll ever find one, once spendt 2 hours in amamake and killed about 17 Rifter pirates "omg lol look low sec lets go do that famous frigate piracy", you want the "real" pirates? then you need to be flying a HaC and preferably in a gang, because we sport tech II gear and ships + alot of friends nearby should the occation call for it, in addition we arent easy to get into a fight we dont want.
Alot of us flash, flashing means you get real good at surviving, even if your little destroyer could take any of my ships (my kestrel would pop your ass btw) you wouldnt be able to catch me unless I wanted to.
Anti-Piracy is done in large blobs with very good ships, despite how many carebears go around bragging about whupping all pirates in a tech I frig "cuz dey s00k lololol", it just wont happen.
Why dont you just become a pirate yourself o_O

Don't use a destroyer as they cannot tank much damage. If you insist on using lasers don't use Radio S crystals as they only do em damage which isn't going to do much good.
The reason why frigates are better is they are small, fast and can do close orbit which larger guns have trouble hitting. Have a look on eve-pirate.com to get some basic ideas of fitting out a ship.
You may want to reconsider your pvp targets as the majority of pirates pvp everyday and have ships optimally fitted for fighting. I recommend starting with miners in the belts so that you get used to ganking ships and not allowing them to get away. Bit of a clash with the anti-pirate approach though.

Very Interesting stuff.
Right now Im in a Vexxor, not online atm but IIRC my rig is 400mm armorx2, afterburner to get some speed back and because I dont have the skill for something more useful yet, 7 hammerhead Is and a warrior in the drone bay (though I cant use all 8 at a time yet or even 5), 4 dual 150mm rail guns pushing Uranium rounds and I think 2 shield extenders and a shield boost and also one smart bomb or whatever the area damage thing is called.
I was thinking this would just be a Rat hunter till I could afford a BS, but does THIS have any shot against smaller pirates? And is it true that there really ARENT any smaller pirates to hunt? And are there any obvious weak points in the set up selection?
