By now, you all know about the strange Nation activity, Caroline's Star and all events which people believe may be linked together. This resource is here to compile all of the information we have so far into one place.
And if you have been monitoring the IGS NeoCom channel, you will know my views on this, I believe we need to put our differences aside, but this is not the place for that, this is the place for fact.
Here is what we know about Caroline's Star so far:
- The position that was triangulated was in W477-P - link.
- It resembles the Seyllin incident, which occured a few years ago, possibly leading to the formation of wormholes around the cluster.
- It's most likely a core-collapse supernova in progress, which if it continues expanding, will engulf half of the cluster. - link.
- It appears to be growing bigger and brighter.
- Multiple images have been taken, some can be found here.
- Thanks to the kindness of CFC, I was able to travel into their space unchallenged, and took these images.
- We believe that it may be linked to the unusual Sansha's Nation activity in Oasa, due to the fact they did not use wormholes to leave, due to similarities with Seyllin in which wormholes were related to the solar activity - link.
- Could be linked to the unusual sleeper message. - This may be a hoax and is currently being investigated.
Here is what we know about the unusual Nation activity in Oasa:
- Nation made an incursion into the area as per usual.
- They controlled the area for an entire six days.
- They then abruptly left, without using wormholes, instead using local deadspace and regional jumpgates.
And here is what we know about the mysterious sleeper message:
- Could possibly be a hoax, this is being investigated.
- Several grammatical errors and simple problems with text.
- Linked to message supposedly from Dr. Hilen Tukoss, the curator of Site One.
Here's what we know about the message from Dr. Hilen Tukoss:
- The message suppposedly originated from coordinates in Anoikis.
- May be a hoax, but is assumed to be genuine.
- Preliminary decoding makes links to Site One, further reinforcing the link between the Sleeper events, and Site One.
- Another noticed effect of the recent events, is that there appears to be increased wormhole formation within the cluster, but this hasn't been exactly verified, but various sources say this is the case.
These events may or may not be linked, this is just a place to document all the information we have, not to say whether you believe they're linked or not.
This is not an exhaustive list, and may be updated as more information is made available. Feel free to respond with other information that you think needs adding.
This is not a place for opinion, only a place to document fact to avoid confusion - Please treat it as such. |

A request for clarification.
In what way does this resemble the Seyllin Incident? I was under the impression that this mostly closely resembled the appearance of the Bright Star, which occurred a year before Seyllin.
That said, do we have any confirmation of increased.or unusual wormhole formation? I'm dubious of any capsuleer claiming to have proprietary knowledge unknown to the cluster at large.

This doesn't resemble the Sylin incident at all. It does resemble the Bright star from about a year before the Sylin Incident, but there isn't any proof that was linked to the Seylin incident.
As far as being a supernova. A supernova wouldn't engulf half the cluster. A supernova would, of course, destroy its own system, and might have effects on other very close systems, but systems more than a few lightyears away wouldn't see much than a spike in cosmic radiation.
Makoto Priano wrote: That said, do we have any confirmation of increased.or unusual wormhole formation?
At the moment, it does not seem that way, but wormholes of a new type with very tight mass limit began to appear a couple of months ago, and I have heard rumors of a number of systems gaining additional links. It may not be linked to this event, however.
Correlation does not equal causation, and 2 months isn't a very tight correlation. |

I completely agree about the supernova, my wording was wrong; I was thinking of a hypernova, but writing about a supernova and was talking to someone at the same time. Anyhow, the general consensus is that there has been increased wormhole formation, although I am still trying to find proof. CFC aren't being that generous.
As far as the Seyllin incident's concerned, there have been several correlations, and as Makoto points out, a correlation doesn't necessarily mean there's a cause.
I'll update the main info-archive, and take some more images.

As stated above, it apparently increases the wormhole formation in the cluster, but this is still unverified. Thanks to the kindness of several alliances, I have been able to travel freely through nullsec space, to observe from different points, and have definitely seen it's growing brighter.

On the subject of increased wormhole activity.
I have heard some chatter about this from other explorers, "Have you noticed there's a lot more wormholes around?"
I'm still a rookie, yet I've been able to detect wormholes with ease. In Vattoulen, I scanned down three different wormholes over a four-day period. I've since found at least one wormhole per day in Saisio and two in that system several hours ago.
Can this be verified by other, more experienced pilots? Especially for some of the more strategic systems? I still think this is a natural phenomenon that we don't understand yet., or a terrible but localized accident. But why take chances?
Thank you.

I verify this, I am an experienced (some might say expert) explorer, and even using basic Tech I equipment, I have found a LOT more wormholes than would normally be encountered. I am saying this is true, but further verification's needed.

I just got back from a wormhole expedition with Aiko (from above) and Erja Ishanoya, and we found nothing strange, apart from the fact that in some systems, there seem to be 'pairs' of wormholes forming, which are always of type X702 and K162, an example of this is Perimeter system, and Saisio, which we investigated.
I'll update the thread with more information as we uncover it. |

"I've heard," "I have found," etc, is still anecdotal.
I'm sorry to be harsh, but unless we have statistics, more signature types, or verification from baseliner authorities, the additional wormholes remain conjecture. Bias can creep in at any point. If we are to draw accurate and useful conclusions, we need to be absolutely sure about the information available to us.
For instance, the Seyllin comparison: I believe all of the 'shattered planet' systems are A0 stars per some research I've read, while this doesn't appear to have the right spectral class to be an A0, correct? And, of course, the Bright Star was a different class as well and showed even brightness over its lightspan. Formalizing a comparison to Seyllin puts us on a line of thought relating to wormholes, while the Bright Star has no tie to wormhole systems, and Seyllin has different characteristics. Now, Kraid-haan mentioned new, mass-limited wormholes. That's verifiable. I'll check Galnet for signature details and edit this post later.
In the meantime, let's tread carefuly.

I am endeavouring to remain balanced, however as you can understand, it's hard not to let bias creep in when you have your own beliefs, I am merely attempting to document EVERYTHING we believe may be connected, and everything we KNOW is connected, to allow those to make their own decisions. I have to be anecdotal, otherwise no information would have even got to me. People have been constantly telling me these things, am I supposed to say I just plucked it out of thin air?
I've also done some research on wormholes, as you've just read, and there appears to be no correlation, but as I say above, I am documenting everything that MAY be linked to this, so as to provide all the information.

My gut feeling says that there is nothing natural about this phenomenon. My scans suggest that it's mathematically oefect. It's like this wormhole is somehow or other all other wormholes at the same time.
It makes no sense at all, which is why it can't be natural.

I've done my own research, but there are too many rumours around.
A list of the theories and rumours follows:
- A natural phenomenon.
- Some kind of Jovian or even Minmatar Superweapon.
- Sansha's Nation wormhole generator malfunction.
- A supermassive black hole.
- A supermassive cynosural field.
- A natural phenomenon that's been artifically tampered with.
- Something Sleeper, Talocan, or Yan Jung related. But the main emphasis is on the sleepers in reference to the mysterious messages.
These are the most common theories that are around, but they are all speculation. Be aware, this includes even the most outlandish of theories, but that is merely to keep everything in one place.
More effects have been added, and it is highlighted whether they are confirmed or not. |

I don't think there's much evidence to suggest Nation's wormhole generation tech is failing overall.
To support my position I point to the fact that there's been no decrease in the number of incursions occuring before or during the current appearance of the stellar anomaly and there's been no discernable change in the pattern of how they initiate, establish and withdraw in regions across New Eden. Each of these parameters have remained unchanged over the course of the last three years.
It would be more accurate to say that to date the incursion in Oasa is the only one to not follow standard withdrawal protocol. The specific reason for this isolated change in protocol is poorly understood and the idea that it has to do with either a complete or partial loss of wormhole generation ability remains purely speculative.
On a sidenote, welcome back Commander. I hope your time away has been productive and, if not productive, at least relaxing.

Finally, a theory which doesn't involve superweapons, or doesn't have a link to the Star.
Anyhow, based on our current evidence. I'd recommend that Vale of the Silent be evacuated, completely, of all ships, and valuables. This is just a precaution, as the anomaly outshines most of the local stars in that region. Once again, I'd like to push for the complete evacuation of Vale of the Silent, until we can ascertain whether the star poses a significant threat or not.
However, if the major alliances do not want to evacuate, I will still be conducting surveillance within those areas, in a small craft, CFC have been generous enough already, and I do not want to stretch that, but it is imperative that I continue observing the star from JZV-F4. |

In my experience, Sansha's minions do not retreat or give ground until their strategic goals have been achieved. When beaten in the past and unable to achieve desired goals, they wait until lower peak hours of empyrean activity before re-attacking to fulfill whatever objective their master has issued. Alternatively, in the past we have seen them use denial-and-deception tactics through conflicting and erroneous information.
The Nation also has remarkable ability to reconstitute lost forces in short order, and we know they learn from each defeat. Every crewmember aboard a destroyed ship is a clone, resurrected somewhere else to re-crew another starship. When they say "there is no death in Nation" it is meant literally. Nation has taken capsuleer technology and expanded it far broader.
Therefore I consider it more likely that a new objective was issued by their Master, which they are attempting to achieve. What that objective is, and why it necessitates use of stargates, is a mystery at present. But I doubt that one can "reallocate" a wormhole generation device so superior as to maintain a stable wormhole in the Promised Land system for over a year, while simultaneously supporting numerous active incursions elsewhere.

I am thinking that the incident with Nation forces and their escape via more conventional means may not be such that their wormhole technology was disabled, but more likely that something else started coming through them or such transit mode became a liability out of some unforeseen factor or third party.
Sleepers maybe, given the new evidence of their presence in known space.

Mr. Wolfhammer, there's also the possible issue of speed. Gate networks aren't mass limited, while wormholes are. Perhaps the Sansha wormhole generator requires time to charge or calibrate on hole collapse. If so, it would be faster to evacuate at least some forces via gate.
Of course, this theory is predicated upon the Sansha knowing something about the bright star and wanting to evacuate the area closest to it.
We really can't know at present.

Highly unlikely, as they'd have to follow the movements of the ship exactly, and we'd have detected them by now.

The self-proclaimed 'star committee' as I've called it, has decided to shut down the evac efforts, and we're focusing more on scientific study than anything else. As of now, we're analyzing the data that my probe sent back, and are still trying to unscramble most of it, as the signal isn't clear, as you can guess, video's out of the question for now.

Greetings,
It may also be possible, that the Nation is able to start Incursions within the isolated UUA-F4 Region where W477-P is located. Only a theory but if Sanshas are able to reach those isolated Region, maybe this is the reason why they have more intel about this phenomenon. And if there are direct links between some Incursionareas, this may be the reason why the Nation don't use these wormholes and risk their whole fleet to an star which is about to explode.
Also i think, a large Controll Tower with massive Thermal and EM-hardeners may be able to resist a radiation and plasmastorm from a hypernova a few lightyears away. So if you are located near W477-P this may be a possible hideout.
So far, Sakul A. |

Well, we're currently working on a theory, which I won't disclose at this time, and believe we have something that does include most of the available data, and in fact requires that to function correctly.
I still haven't been able to clear-up the data on the probe, but, I have determined that it may not be a core collapse supernova, I'm working to clear up the interference.

After some thought, I recalled some of the hubabaloo that went on around the time Sansha's Nation began raiding into empire space. I was able to find an image made from when this started. http://go-dl1.eve-files.com/media/1006/Mouse.Nell.Wormhole.Probe.Huttaken.IV.jpg
The reason I post this is because the conjecture at the time was that nation forces were staging from a Jove station. It is also certain that they have some way of using wormholes (whether natural or man-made is still debatable) to their advantage.
I still feel that the sudden notice of Nation forces moving strangely at the same time as odd sleeper behavior and now this strange luminary phenomenon is too coincidental to ignore.
As far as a way to pin-point the location of said luminary phenomenon, using the newly installed compass should help to a significant degree. But I think research up to this point is fairly accurate on that regard.

The reason I post this is because the conjecture at the time was that nation forces were staging from a Jove station. It is also certain that they have some way of using wormholes (whether natural or man-made is still debatable) to their advantage. The station visible in the camera drone was later confirmed to be in the 3-CE1R system. According to Task Force Ishaeka - so I advise we take this with a shot of something strong - the system was evacuated six months later and the vault was secure. (Link)
As to the issue of wormhole use, it has been confirmed that the wormholes are artificially-generated. There are either one or two of these devices in existence. I trust this information is helpful, pilot.

Quite interesting responses here, I haven't heard much more new evidence about it, but we have had some rather unusual theories which we're working on.
Theory One: Inside the supposed message from Dr. Hilen Tukoss, there was a Locus Signature hidden, J1000005. Now, we know this system isn't listed on official records, but we believe it exists, and can be accessed through a C5 wormhole chain. We need everybody to search any C5 chains they come across, or just any C5 wormholes.
Theory Two: How do you secure something in a vault? A biometric lock. What do you need to open a biometric lock such as the one at Prosper Vault? A Jove. Why do you think they need Jovian DNA and Jovian body parts? Cloning, maybe? What would be hidden in such a station? CONCORD deny anything, but we know what bad liars they are. Possibly a weapon hidden within the vault? Something capable of destroying stars? And what's the first thing you do when you get a new weapon? Test it. |

There is nothing any of us can do to match our respective homes and entities we proclaim loyalty to when it comes to terrorism. If we are ever to actually achieve anything at all for whatever ideals or causes we cling to, it requires thinking big. It requires acts of terror or mercy so great that they are nigh inconceivable.
In short, go big or go home. Everything else is just a waste of time and lives.

Hacking a biometric lock involves finding a way to interface with it other than by providing biometric data and then convincing it either that you've provided a valid match with its authentication database or simply forcing it to open the door.
The standard Guristas mainframe or Sansha databank is never going to be as secure because they're built with compatibility and ease-of-access in mind.

Could it be that Sansha is looking for something in his old lab/fortress? |

Armour repairers are placed right in Engineering. That means we have to go the other direction first. Not to mention this method only works against armour plating and does absolutely squat against bulkhead doors. Space stations in general do not have armour repairers or hull repairers installed to exploit.
Actually, thinking about it we can just remove the biometric scanner console and rewire the door.
Wormhole generation is not as simple as you think. Vast amounts of energy and liquid ozone must be expended to generate an artificial wormhole. Not to mention you need somebody inside to generate a cynosural field and somebody else to bridge.

Someone asked in the A'J mailing list for possible reasons why the apparent disparity between Caroline's Star and the center of the "shockwave " seen now in relation to it. Several theories have been put forth and will not bother reiterating them here.
Three out of four University Wonks agree and they wrote:close vicinity of the W477-P system... has been cautiously and provisionally confirmed as the most likely location of the anomaly...
Emphasis and snips mine.
First, I'd like to point out that this shockwave is displaying FTL properties of its own, but thats a statement of the obvious, and rather besides my point here. Indeed, while there may be some kind of cluster-wide field effect at work that is allowing all information related to this anomaly to reach us at FTL speeds, luckily the vast majority of the energy being output is still restricted to much lower speeds.
Apologies. My point is: Caroline's Star need not be in W477-P, only close by, for a structure in W477-P to finally succumb to the staggering energy output of this anomaly. We could be seeing something unrelated to the anomaly reacting -most violently- to it.
What could contain the energy necessary to cause such a shockwave?

I'm guessing the energy output is at least 8.8+ù1047 J. The equivalent of a massive super-nova. Doesn't explain the FTL quantum aspects of the anomaly. But...Boom. Yeah. Big boom.

In that case I feel a bit more confidant saying, I believe the extreme verticality displayed by Caroline's Star maybe do to two Gamma ray bursts coming from the center...however I think I'm create in stating that these would be unnaturally long GRBs. It boggles the mind.

Out of curiosity, has anyone done a measurement on the area that this blast wave covers? Even a basic calculation on the area based off the approximate distance and the angle it subtends might tell us a lot. For instance, is this phenomenon confined to one solar system, or is it possible that the blast front might reach other populated systems?
If it is interstellar in size, that could explain why the jumpgates were shut down before detonation. It would seal the intended victims of this catastrophe in the blast zone.
When I get to k-space next, I will forward the data we have to Stellar Cartography at Center for Advanced Studies: Clacille, where I have a contact. Well, more someone who owes me, but that's another story. Until then, I will have our researchers run some math on this at our PoS. If anyone can do the math as well, we may reach a conclusion faster.

All,
I'm just joining the discussion, and things look like they're on fire.
Yesterday at about 04:00 GMT, I took these photos of the anomaly. Photos taken from Jufvitte, constelation Kiartanne, region Verge Vendor.
link
Today, in the same system, roughly 21 hours later, the object disappeared. During the time that it was visible, it did not move from that location slightly to the left of the cavity in Kiartanne's nebula. This cooberates that it has begun to fade.
From this distance, I can see what plainly appears to be a dust cloud forming around the object, tailing the "shockwave".
I wasn't able to gather much data during its exposure in VV.

Just a few moments ago, I was able to capture this image of Caroline's Star. Upon further enhancements a dust ring can be seen within the image. This was taken in the S9X-AX system in Providence at approximately 03:30 eve time and as you can see it's the brightest object thus far.
And after consultations with scientists on station we agreed that it may take several days from the brightness to dim and then dissappear and in it's place the remnants of a dust cloud as well as the central core of the collapsed star. Now this brings up a possibilty of the formation of a black hole as a result of the collapse in the end.

I'm forming the opinion that the shattering of the inner system worlds is somehow related to wormhole appearances over new eden.
Could it be that everytime a wormhole is generated, a planet somewhere within either Jove space or the newly discovered wormhole frontiers must give up it's life and be shattered in the process.

Possible, but highly unlikely as long range scans would register planets being shattered, and there's a far more logical theory at hand with the whole ISOGEN-5 set of thinking.

I just came back from a expedition in Low-Sec, after Intel tolde me there was one of these unknown strucktures. I got within ruffly 15km of it. My PvP settings showed it in the overview, but not on D-Scan. Sleeper Scouts Drones apeerd, scand it several times. but nothing intressting to report. I deduct what ever it is, its not what sleepers are looking for. further i think quite strongly this struckture, wich by now emitts lightning with in it, is badly dameged or eve destroyed, it looks fractured or rather broken. 2ndly i think its not cloaked but somehow out of snyc with or spacetime, its there and not. further it remindse me abit of Site One.
And yes...Carolines Star is smaller, but it looks it expandes in the horizontal level. |

If caroline's star is related to the destruction of those systems, and my assumptions are correct, then it would also stand to reason, that there would be multiple wormholes formed, and thus what we thought was one point of light, is actually a few points of light extremely close together. Of course it remains to be discovered why it has the same appearance from countless points hundreds of lightyears apart, and if it IS related to the destruction of those other systems, why it is still showing, when the event APPEARS to have run its course. |

I need some information from people who have access to the "shattered wormhole" systems. I have a hypothesis, and it needs some testing.
Saerin Korvalu took this picture of one of the violent, non-traversable wormholes in the shattered systems. The nebula visible through the wormhole is very clearly Cloud Ring, but it took me a while to work out where it was being viewed from. After spending some time looking at various nebula images, I determined that the closest match is the view from Pure Blind. Now, as you may have noticed, this doesn't perfectly match the view through the wormhole - until you flip it upside down. The wormhole's refracting light, so this isn't surprising.
Now, the fact that the nebula visible puts the destination system of these wormholes in Pure Blind is particularly significant, because that region contains the 38G6-L constellation, home of none other than our erstwhile friends the Servant Sisters of EVE, who have a very clear but undefined relationship to the recent goings-on.
Can people take a look at the Epicenter location in the shattered wormholes and in Thera, and tell me if the Pure Blind nebula is visible through them as well?

Good work, Eran! That is undisputedly Pure Blind visible through that wormhole - you can tell by the presence of the bright blue Lonetrek nebula.
Also, an update - following a notion given to me by Xindi Kraid, I checked Pure Blind for systems with A0-class stars. It has two such systems - ROIR-Y, which is within the Sisters of EVE home constellation, and KQK1-2, which is owned by TNT. I didn't find any evidence of a wormhole generation device, but there is one of those mysterious mostly-cloaked crystalline structures here which these Circadian Sleepers seem very interested in.

Whilst travelling across the forge region, I noticed that the shape of carolines star appears to be resolving itself into a form that I witnessed recently, while investigating unknown wormholes.
At the centre of this wormhole was a site, that appeared to have been the epicentre of a cataclysmic event, it was surrounded by five violent wormholes. And visually at a distance there is a strong similarity. I was forced to leave quickly as I was overrun with sleeper aggressors, and My systems unfortunately have been unable to find a way back to this wormhole, I did notice a mix of Talocan and sleeper technology, and the talocan appeared to be active! With spatial rifts being formed. This may be worth investigating should others encounter similar?
This may be completely unrelated, but the similarities are somewhat more than a coincidence, I fear.

I cant help but think, someone or something has used wormholes originating around the Caroline's Star event to either; 1) Mitigate and disperse the damage caused to systems immediately around the event or 2) As a weapon to intentional 'shatter' a number of entire systems.
The first option suggests the damage to the SoE system Thera was purely a coincidence, whoever opened these untraversable wormhole epicenters merely required a certain number of systems within which to disperse the energy of the event. The second option is frankly frightening but, if Thera was a target, how did the outer regions of the system survive? In this scenario it's probably far more likely that Thera was an origin of the dispersal, performed in order to save the stations from damage, however to counter myself again, did the irregular expanse of the Thera system save the outer regions from 'shattering'.
Now that i've said it out loud, i feel like a weight has lifted, yet the confusion and anticipation remains, given our seeming immortality it's things like this that keeps life alive.

The simplest explanation as to why outer regions of Thera survived is they are simply too far away from the star. This, though, requires an assumption that each shattered system suffered a fate similar to Seyline. That is, they were deep-fried by their own stars. Which shouldn't be that much of a stretch given that shattered system starts, if I noticed it right, are behaving quite strange. Or, alternatively, something went off near those stars nasty enough to severely affect the stars themselves (Isogen-5?).
Or maybe it has something to do with the talocan spatial rifts near the epicentres? Maybe being so close to the stars they are creating some sort of gravitational instability? |

So I stumbled across one of these stations in Sharji (Still there if you want to investigate). After a few minutes, as previously discovered about 5 Sleepers warped in, but they came in seperately, not all at once, began scanning the beacon, then moved to the station and began scanning that.
I began pulsing smartbombs on the station and the nearest sleeper, no observed change of behavior, they ignored me.
I called in the support of a Domi that was in system, I went back and brought in a SoE Stratios with tackle and between us we tackled and destroyed the 5 Sleeper ships (Chicada Seekers or something to that effect). They made no attempt to run, and began to scan our drones too.
Upon their destruction, I began salvage operations, recovering only scrap metal. We attempted to get close enough to the station to begin a hack, but the object appears to repel approaching ships at ranges between 5,400m and 5,260m, so we weren't able to see if there was an uplink available to hack into.
There was a Sleeper Cache in system at the same time - attempting to hack this made no change to the situation of the station. Upon a successful hack a rift was generated, which I was unable to take the Stratios through due to mass limitations. Sadly due to a failed hack previously, the station guarding the rift self destructed. Again no changes to the station were observed.
The structure appears to be a spire, with between 3 and 4 outer heatsink/fins from what we could tell from our extended observations of the structure. Black clouds as noted in previous discoveries were found surrounding it.
I would estimate that the structure was around 15km in height, possibly similar to that of a control tower?
I have extensive pictures of both the tower, and the sleeper vessels that appeared that I will upload later to the neocom for your perusal.
After giving up on the station, and failing to find them in the belt in system, I began to leave.
We found 5 more Circadian Seekers (For this is the vessels name apparently) scanning the gate and the Amarr Navy ships orbiting it. My new Domi friend notified me that he'd noticed the Sleepers earlier in the day, but had noted they warped off whenever he saw them - this seemingly didn't ring true now - as having locked up the the vessels they once again made no attempt to defend themselves or retreat.
After a minute or two we tackled and destroyed our 6th Sleeper ship of the venture, but as we began to engage the next they warped away. Since then we haven't been able to catch up with them.
Other notables - the system contained at least 1 active wormhole during this time. |

Reading the speculation surrounding this event inspired to dig up some of the old data from the Seyllin incident. This report in particular, by Dr. Raimus Amira, is interesting. It was also rather difficult to find. Had Dr. Amira not been a capsuleer, I highly doubt enough of the report would have remained in public databases to reconstruct. Had I myself not been a capsuleer, I highly doubt that I could have obtained the access required to do so. While reconstructing the report itself was not overly difficult, access to it would not be possible for the average scientist.
Assuming Dr. Amira's data on the nature of the Seyllin Incident is correct, I think that at this point we can safely conclude that Caroline's Star is another Isogen-5 detonation event.
Supporting evidence:
- Isogen-5, when detonated, creates an exotic form of matter that, when organized properly, results in the formation of wormholes. (Amira, pg 12)
- This material, due it's exotic properties and non-standard interaction with space-time, is able to travel faster then light. (Amira, pg 13)
Already, the connection to Caroline's Star / Anomaly and the events that followed it's emergence is evident, in particular it's superluminal qualities.
Furthermore:
- An alteration of Seyllin's magnetic field, still of unknown origin even today, directed the products of the Isogen-5 detonation to hundreds of neighboring stars. Subsequently, wormholes began forming across the New Eden cluster. (Amira, pg 13)
- The Isogen-5 detonation at Seyllin was not centered on the star, but at a point halfway between it and Seyllin I. (Amira, pg 10)
- The remains of Caroline's Star do not conform to the nominally-spherical shape expected from that of a naturally occuring supernova; instead, the shockwave/ejecta forms several oblong shapes that appear to be interacting with each other. (source)
- The mass of solar ejecta (plasma wave) responsible for the destruction of Seyllin I was focused along the same path as the magnetic realignment that dispersed the Isogen-5 byproducts. (Amira, pg 10)
If a similar manipulation occurred in W477-P and resulted in the anomaly we know as Caroline's Star, the phenomena reported by Dr. Amira would adequately explain many of the observed effects of the anomaly, including it's unusual shape. Considering the massively increased scale of the current event compared to Seyllin, it's not unreasonable to assume that the hyper-Euclidean defects caused by an Isogen-5 explosion would affect also Jump Drives, Stargates, and navigation throughout the region, thus also explaining the other mysterious effects observed recently.
Speculation:
Obviously Caroline's Star is a much more massive event the Seyllin event or it's less-documented contemporary cousins. I don't have the navigation data necessary to calculate it's size, and thereby to even estimate it's energy; however it can reasonably be assumed to be multiple orders of magnitude larger. Dr. Amira speculated that Seyllin is the result of an ancient race, perhaps even the mythological Terrans, using the star to propagate a controlled topological defect in the space-time geography. Is it possible that Caroline's Star used a Stellar System in much the same process as Seyllin used a Planetary System? If so, the reach of it's effects may be unimaginable.
The Isogen-5 explanation does not actually solve any mysteries of note. What civilization or entity is responsible for stockpiling such huge amounts of the dangerous mineral? Isogen-5 only occurs in orbit of Type-O Blue type stars, making it very rare; acquiring and storing enough of this material to explain Seyllin is difficult enough; explaining the same for Caroline's Star defies reason.
Are these stockpiles, or the force that made them, somehow related to the cloaked structures now being discovered accross New Eden? Or the Circadian Seeker's mindless search?
Lastly, the most speculative question of them all: given the non-standard interaction between Isogen-5 byproducts and space-time, is it possible that the events we are seeing unfold today are *directly* related to the collapse of the Eve gate so many millennia ago? To my knowledge, no-one has discussed this possibility in a scientific context. Could the Prophecies be based on real phenomena?

I don't have the necessary contacts in the scientific community to get specific information about it's structure; after the incident at the University of Caille, no public research has been conducted into the material.
It could be any of the options you describe. An isotope of Isogen is highly unlikely, since this isotope should be expected to occur naturally in all Isogen deposits yet it plainly does not. It is most likely an exotic phase of Isogen, produced through some as-yet unknown process. There may be something about Type-O Blue stars that results in the formation of new allotropes of Isogen, although why these allotropes didn't accrete into asteroids and planets during stellar accretion is a mystery in itself.
If I may veer into the realm of supposition once more, I would like to point out that there is no evidence that Isogen-5 is naturally occurring at all. Perhaps it's prevalence at Type-O Blue stars is because it was placed there by an intelligent agency, and the trace amounts we discover have somehow escaped their containment structures. At this point, we should keep all avenues of inquiry open.
Unless it is true that the Sanctuary Corporation has been researching this material, and unless someone can convince them to release their results, that is all the information about Isogen-5 that I have been able to obtain. Sadly, it is nearly all speculation.

I had 2 encounters with shattered wormholes thus far. The first one had some sleeper drones near the epicenter, so being in an astero I only had a chance to look around sitting cloaked. The second one, the entrance wormhole was timing out, so I only had a very limited amount of time. This time rats were not present, and I decided to make a quick try on a talocan destroyer (being the most intriguing object on grid). It didn't respond to analyzers, showed nothing on cargo scanners and wasn't available for salvage. Of course it could be that I wasn't the first one in the site (which explains the absence of sleepers).
Otherwise sensors didn't pick up anything worth trying to hack or salvage, and I believe most of the stuff present at the site is pretty typical to W-space. Except violent wormholes, of course.
Speaking of Sleeper Caches. I got one today, and it had something appearing to be a cloaked structure with a cloak very much resembling that of the Unidentified Structure. So maybe that suggest the sleeper origin of the structure? Didn't bother taking pictures unfortunately. |

It is sleeper. That's why I brought up epicenter. Specifically, the rifts and talocan gates.

This is indeed slightly worrying, and i'm doing some research on it as we speak.

We missed several big clues provided by CCP right out in the open. Listen to "The Prophecy" trailer from several expansions back.
Two major clues are dropped. In the scene of the Theology Counsil Listen Post the female voice says, "The Prophecy is true. The Heretics have constructed the gate." She says "THE GATE" not "a gate". That's suggestive that it's more significant than a regular Stargate between systems. It's an Eve Gate level of importance.
Next, fast forward to the scene in the capsuleer base, the computer voice says, "Ignition sequence initiated. Standby for perimeter evacuation." Ignition, ignition of what? Isogen 5? This gate isn't powering up like a Stargate to fire a ship to an adjacent system, its detonating something.
Finally there's the battle scene at its conclusion. Every ship and object other than the gate device itself received a crippling shock of some type. Perhaps some overwhelming EMP type blast. While the blast does not seem to be massive enough for destruction of the entire system such as a shattering event it does laywaste to both fleets, then sucks the objects into itself before the blast expels them. We also can get some hints from the surroundings, the nebula, planet nearby, etc. for where and perhaps equally importantly when this event will happen(ed).
I hope this food for thought is helpful. |

Just a note and an observation from the camera feed. That ship being used, the Gallante Cruiser..... as a model from a simulation software (SISI) and is due to be released in a month or so. The Sleeper's shooting is a hypothetical simulation, albeit based on good statistical data regarding behavior prediction.

Alright alright, enough idle speculation. If they do shoot back, and if this turns out to not be a simple scanning mission, we need to be prepared. We've seen the sleeper drones have missile launchers, but have yet to use them.
We need to prepare for every avenue, and we need to up our defences, in case this turns into an all out war.

The simulation software ((sisi)) does seem to be remarkably effective at predicting results, whilst it may sometimes mispredict the magnitude and strength of the new equipment being delivered by the main labs and shipyards, the actual features are usually correct.
Whilst AI is banned, remarkable work has, and is, still been done with advanced "standard" simulations.
We need to consider the possibility of the circadian sleepers becoming more aggressive as a most likely scenario. It is now Time to practice tactics and weapon/ship choices, before it is too late to formulate them.
Of course this may only be the initial vangard of a much wider force.

And it seems the statistics were dead on.
Also, a note, the second wave is more difficult than the first. Some in that wave are more durable, while others are significantly better with their missiles. |

Nw update information that might be relevant. Last night during our activities against sleepers in wormhole space, the sleepers consistently only fired upon the one target, making life laughably easy for our logistics pilots. This loss of intelligent targeting is odd in sleepers, possibly connected to their scouting of known space? Perhaps they are failing and in search of some kind of fix?

I think this might have been an edge case. I was clearing a Perimeter Checkpoint late last night, and several patrollers readily turned on my drones. |

It is most likely a fluke in the AI's programming or the infomorph normally controlling the drone is away on other business.
To illustrate a case, when defending a POS, the POS will often target a single individual or group of individuals ineffectively. WIthout a true intelligence to guide it, the POS will often target poorly. A true artificial intelligence or infomorph can assume control of the POS and target an enemy far more effectively.
With the Sleepers, an intelligence normally guides them. If the Infomorph normally guiding Sleeper drones becomes unavailable due to other priorities, it is possible that the Sleepers would allow an AI to assume control of their drone defense systems. The AI then begins to exhibit the same fundimental flaw of inability to connect seemingly unrelated information.
In conclusion, it is an uncertain possibliity that while the drones run off threat-assessment code, the Sleeper infomorphs are gathering for some larger purpose. |

I was on GalNet while I was planet side for the last two weeks. While going through news archives, I stumbled on a piece titled Breathing Room. This well written, though apparently unsubstantiated, account follows the Chief Secretary of the Arek'Jaalan project, and embedded in there was an interesting little gem.
Quote: On this evening, Vos [Ramini Vos, CS of Arek'Jaalan - VdM] was having a particularly vivid dream in which he, as master of the universe, was contending with a troublesome supernova that threatened to dwarf a little cluster of stars heGÇÖd grown quite fond of, having spent considerable time already optimizing their orbits. After many unsuccessful attempts at draining the nuclear fuel, heGÇÖd been toying with the idea of a well-placed black hole. The light from the dying star continued to grow, however, and as the tension of his fantasies began to mount, Vos (as he would so often do) retreated back the other way towards reality, just in time to notice a little supernova of his own.
Not sure where this proverbial wormhole may lead, but it bears an eerie similarity to Caroline's Star, and I though was worth mentioning. Especially since it abstractly ties the star event, A'J, Tukoss, and Eifyr & Co. together.
Now let the speculation begin while I go line my capsule with tin shielding. It helps. Really. |

Just did some browsing on the independent capsuleer loss records. Found this kill with 75% of the damage done by circadian seeker drones: https://zkillboard.com/kill/43861365/
Aggression of CS drones confirmed via kill mail, though I would feel better contacting this pilot directly. |
