Edited by: InnerDrive on 04/09/2006 11:30:12 I been looking at what woud be the best ship to use to npc in belts with fighters assigned.
Obviously a maxed out skills raven is the best for this, but i lack skills in caldari. A short range amarr laser boat prolly also works well, but i lack skills in those aswell.
I got good minmatar and gallente skills so im looking at if theres any min or gal ships that are capable to do it, especialy killing the small ships i see as problematic.
So a minmatar or gallente ship + fighters in a belt, wich one woud kill them the fastest?
Deimos, munnin, vagabond, BlasterT, RailT, AC tempest,... ?

Well, if you have fighters assigned all that you *really* need to do is be able to tank, they'll do the rest.
Personally, I'd probably fly a tanked rail Deimos with a tractor beam. Pve makes you do funny things to your ships :P

A HAC of some kind, but not an ishtar. Deimos / vaga / munnin / eagle would be fine. All you need to do is pop the frigs. ---------------------------

Edited by: InnerDrive on 04/09/2006 11:36:37 Well i want a higher killrate, not just sit there and wait for the fighters to kill :p
The fighters kill pretty fast but its not instant killing, and ye i need a way to take out the small friggies and cruisers coz the fighters are crap at hitting those.

I would use a Muninn then. Good ship for its relative low price.

Like I said, Deimos. Minmatar boats eat too much AC ammo and/or artillery have sucky DPS. You'll be using all your drone slots, so no Ishtar. Blaster Deimos+drones = dead stuff fast. Rail Deimos+drones = dead stuff nearly as fast, even if it's on the other side of the belt.

Another alternative would be a rapier.
3 webs and 3 painters, and those fighters will *****even the smallest of targets.

Crow. Or other interceptor. The only bit a fighter has a problem with is the small ships, e.g. frigates and 'ceptors.

For pure ratting, retribution/zealot, just to get rid of the ammo problem! none of them have dronabys, so you won't feel like you're wasting something and they both provide excellent dps.
Sadly, you lack amarr skills :(
As it's been said, huginn might be nice, but a plated rupture or a cyclone will do the job, stick dual 180 AC and as much tank as you can fit and let the fighters kill the big boys! _

Just use the carrier to rat with... and dont join friendly gangs in the system so you dont get their attention when hostiles jump in and engage you in belt, setting all your fighters on the inty that joyfully hops away between planets ;) Thats know how.

the dps you get out of 5 fighters is a bit sad, ratting in a raven is probably quicklier

Bearing in mind all of my carrier experience is with being under fire from them, but I can't imagine this to be true...

Because without flying a carrier yourself, you still have the drone control limit of 5 drones (assuming you do actually have drones 5) to contend with.

I would go with a deimos. You can kill the frigs incredible quick, you have almost no penalty for using an mwd, and once the frigs are down you can help the fighters killing BSes.
And once a rat is down, you are usually within 3km from the can so easy to loot.

How about a megaT with ions and maybe a small launcher to kill the frigs? and fit a web for the cruisers.
How much dps difference is a tanked deimos from a tanked mega?

sleipnir/astrarte or claymore/eos, awsome tank and high damage together with possible boosting of the gang :)
Might take a while though :p |

Cerberus with a passive tank. Focus the fighters onto Battleships while taking out cruisers and below with your boosted missiles. -----

5 fighters if the person is in a thanatos with carrier 5, and fighters 5 is about 625 dps. But i doubt they have fighters and carrier 5, so at least 20% less than that.

I would suggest to try this: Deimos with dual 150mm II, load AM ammo (or whatever gives you range of about 9km optimal, and up to 20 falloff. Tractor beam, and then one tracking computer II or even 2. On lows hardeners as needed (2 should be enough), MAR II, and CPRs to maintain tank.
Carry a bit of Spike and Javelin ammo in cases rats are far away, and javelin in case something like another hac attacks you, or you done with the friggies and want to help fighters dawn the BS asap.
Also, carry 5 light drones, just in case you need to take care of long range crows. ------------------ Tired of fleet combat lag? -Post HERE

Is the carrier pilot your alt/the char using the fighters an alt of the pilot?
If not, keep in mind they get the full bounty, and you nothing. (Tested it.)

If you want to help the fighters kill the rats quicker, put a couple of target painters on (no web)

Does this help speed up thier kill rate of BSs? Or just smaller things that they have trouble hitting?

Both realy. They should be getting fewer misses/scratches and better hits in general, especialy cause they sometimes take forever to get into their normal optimal orbiting range due to moving too fast.
