Edited by: Korovyov on 06/09/2006 11:33:46 I really find it amazing that they have skill queueing on the drawing board. At all. And also that there's a "two skill training" thing. How will that work exactly?

Quote: Skill Training - Queue or Dual training
Enabling players to either queue so that training takes the next skill level or starts training another skill up another level. Dual training enables you to have a primary long-term skill in training with a secondary short-term skill sharing the training time. After the secondary skill level has trained, the primary skill trains at 100% again.
If that isn't self explanatory I don't know what is.
Also, as its on the drawing board, that's as much information as we have been given at the moment.

it means that both skills will train at half speed until one of them finishes then it continues like normal

Ah. I was thinking one would pull on its primary and one would pull on its secondary - a sort of 2/3 and 1/3 training rate deal.

I dont know why they just dont enable continuous skill training. For example you start engineering lvl 1 and when its finished it automatically goes to lvl2.

If you are missing training time, its your own fault (unless all you have are <4 hr skills).

i'm sorry but its really needed. i mean come on how may times is there a server/internet/isp prob when you're down to a few hours or less of skill being done.
i wake up 1 hour early every morn before work to rat or mine and train a skill with a short time before ileave.
same thing if you're near bed time or work time and the server/isp, etc goes down.. what do you do then?
me i either go home at lunch time to get a skillg going back.

Although I would also like to see it just continue to the next level, I could live with this possible solution.
You have that skill that will be done in 5 hours, you start it and another long term skill, you go to bed. The next night when you get home and can play, the 5 hour skill is done, and you have progressed some on the long term skill. No training time loss.
In its own way, this is better then continueing on to the next level, since you dont have to worry about when that lvl5 skill is going to complete. It seems that finishing off the last 3-10 hours of a skill take the longest time since they are done in little slices.
And no, I dont play in the morning, and at lunch, and at night.

This is one of those cases of beating a dead horse, but the horse has already rotted and decayed. Now people are just swining wildly in the air looking kinda... special...
The first 6 months you will freak out about losing 10 minutes of skill training. You will set your alarm so you wake up at 2:47 a.m. so you can run to swap your skill. Then after you train a reank 5 skill to level 5 you stop caring. When you realize that skills now take months to finish instead of days it's not so important.
Yes, I used to whine about skill training times. Now I have almost 22m SPs I don't care about missing some time. Two hours is about 4k SPs for me. That's nothing. So, if I have a skill that ends an hour before I get hoe I ask myself "Is there anything better to train or do I really want to get this one finished?" Sometimes I swap, sometime I don't. Also, I always try to have a lvl 4 skill waiting to be trained to lvl 5. That way I always have something to swap to just in case. (BS 5 workd wonderfully for this)

Yes, since everybody will eventually reach 22 million sp, it really makes no sense to do anything that lower sp players would like.

I'm not even at a million SP yet ( just under 800k) and Im already not caring if I miss some time. Eve isn't a race folks, and if you treat it like one, just remember there are people with a three year head start. So forget about obsessing over every second of skill training and get outside while the weather's still decent.

While I understand the problems with auto advancing the skill to the next level, I really don't see any downside to having a 2 skill que. I agree that losing 2 hours is no big deal in the long run. Losing 18 hours is a different issue (server crash before work, so that you're unable to swap skills). Having one skill that auto starts when one finishes would hardly break the game. I know it's been on the drawing board for a while - with all the server problems of late, maybe it's time to start drawing.

I cant wait untill this feature is implemented. You vets may not need it, but some of us newer characters would love to have a shorterm/longertm skill and skill queing. Some times I dont want to show up to my computer every hour or so to rotate skills. Once you get that initial skill base up, I'm sure it gets easier, but untill then this feature will be much apreciated. --------------------------------------------- "Whats wrong little girl? I've been playing about a year and still think that having 2 skills training at the same time would be great. I always end up with 6hr skills that are just to long, but not long enough... some of you will know what I'm talking about. Having a large number of level 4, needing to be level 5 skills it's not hard to swap out, but training the 2hr, 3 hr and 6hr skills while at work would be nice

If they were to do this I think that each skill should train at 45% the normal speed. Yes, that's slower than if you did each on it's own. The RP reason is that it's harder for the brain to track multiple things at one, and the real reason is to prevent abuse. Second, it can only be used on paid accounts. I know it hurts n00bs, but look at all the skills they can't train. Not being able to train 2 at once is not the end of the world. Hell, they aren't even paying for the game. Third, It should only work on low rank and low level skills. The idea that somebody could start mining barge 5 and astrogeology 5 or BS 5 and Large * weapon 5 at the same time just screams bad news.
This would have to be done in a way that helps n00bs, but does not allow people to abuse the system for the sake of selling chars for isk.
To be perfectly honost I think CCP needs to put more time into bug fixes or at least tell us who the president is, who the emporer is, and/or who killed the last emporer.

I would like the dual skill training simply because I often find myself stopping 1 week+ skills to train something I want immediately that takes a day or two.
Dual Skill training matches that perfectly. ----------
