Originally, before I knew anything about EVE, and only knew of it from the ad, and screenshots. I couldn't decide on a goal.
Originally it was to be a professional hauler, flying from place to place, in a large ship, transporting goods all around for others.
Little did I know how tedious hauling was, so I got sidetracked and did combat missions, slowly growing into combat and neglecting my original vision, now here it is 9.3 months later, I'm going to go back and work on my original goal. No, it's not to build anything, nor sell anything, twas simply to haul stuff around.
Preferably being paid to do so, ofcourse...

I remember starting the game and looking at all the older corp mates in their ospreys with medium drones. I thought to myself one day i will be in that. Now i have a dreadnought! In that way i have exceeded my original goal, but i have begun to look for more.
Ultimately it has probably evolved into a universal domination type of goal. You can do anything if you put your mind to it. So contradictory to what you have said i started with a small goal and have evolved to an unattainable one

-- To have the time to play this game properly and not just log in once a week to change skills.
Not begging for much here, just a couple of hours per day... Wish my IRL corp didn't require sooo much time...

To dock in a station in Jovian space with my own Jovian tech 5 battleship fitted with 8 Smurfblaster V¦s.
Unfortunately the Jovian race seems to stay a myth forever and never gets it into the game. |

My first dream was to get a battleship then to join fix alliance, then to fly a dread. My big dream for eve was to explore and find cool stuff all i found was gates and roids so i was a little dissapointed there. My new goal is to fly a pilgrim but whatever I do seems to get nerfed or changed b4 I get there. So my ultimate goal now is to wait for kali and see if i can at last use my scanner to find cool un farmable stuff. I also was looking forward to comet mining in exodus but that seemed to have vanished. I might take a look at manufacturing combat boosters and archeology and hacking might be interesting.

My dream was to run a combat corp but with a firm industrial base which had the ability to build stations. I had before playing perceived POS as full blown stations - as I read through website - and thus cheaper to build than outposts really are. Have tried twice and failed, so spend most of my time just helping other people with corps that have succeeded. The dream has not died per se, but I think I just need a little more stability in real life before I try it again.

My first dream which was impossible or so I was told, was to get less then 100 seconds natural shield recharge on a battleship which I did. Now my dream is to break the 10 second recharge barrier but my semi realistic goal is to break 30 seconds on any ship.

I think I'd like a full set of shadow serpentis ships (there's no frig is there?) and a full set of shadow serpentis modules on all of them.
maybe one day I'm get some core x-type mods too :)

First dream ?
When I was playing my first trial in 2004 and had no clue about the game, there were 2 things that interested me:
1) Fight for the Minmatar Republic. That's what I thought after reading all race and bloodline descriptions. So one of things I tried was to apply for the Republic Fleet. But didn't work. But I started to do lvl.1 missions for them anyway in my beloved rifter, maybe in the hope that they accept me later. 
2) On the first day I also read about the security status of different systems, outlaws, pirates etc. but didn't know exactly what it was. Tutorial was also not like it is now. So I thought that there are pirate infestions out there in low sec. like a Sansha station that looked totally different, surrounded by wrecks and stuff with a lot of player pirates and that I would go there someday, join them and become a pirate.
Like in movies, where pirate have their rocky island with cannons and stuff that they call home and from where they venture out in space to get some prey.
I thought it would be rather rough to go there for the first time, because they might kill me.
Well, it gets all a bit less romantic, if you play longer

I used to have that same goal with the osprey/miner II's!! too bad when i first started the game I wanted to be a indy/hauler character....got boring real quick. pvp FTW
btw Anaka, if you were ever logged in at the same time as me, youd see me more often :)

I signed up a couple of years ago with the sole intent of becoming a stereotypical lone-wolf type bounty hunter, as was being advertised at that time, only to discover that there is absolutely no support for that type of profession in EVE.
Seriously, someone look at it... there's a whole sub-forum dedicated to "bounty hunters and their prey"... make it happen!
It's still my dream. I have no interest whatsoever in capital ships or in the petty bickerings of 0.0 Alliances, and tbh would like nothing better than to be able to pick out a bountied target and pursue them to a confrontation (in which I would no doubt die farcically, but I can live with that :P).
That said, I'm still here anyway, so something must be going right. I can wait a little longer :)

My ultimate dream in EVE would be for Providence region to actually get some good ores and good rats. Sanshas are lame and they have crap faction loot. Replace them with Serpentis or something. The ores suck as well. I want arkonor, bistot and crokite! Now!

seing EVE turning like space empire IV but in Real time, my dream is coming to reality little by little and i'm near sure that at the end of 2007 we will have done a big move toward it , space empire IV for thoses of u that are turn is a turn by turn strategy space game with 1990 graphics but off incredible deepness http://www.malfador.com

Good running support, fast, fair, objective and with commonsence.
No more GM`s/Forum Admins in the top 10 alliances or coorperations.
