Its original purpose was not a super weapon. It broke and could still be used, just as a weapon. Its original purpose is unknown. Given that it runs on isogen-5 and all the spooky stuff going on with whs, sleepers, iso-5, etc, I could explain some theories we came up with. But I'm sick of exerting so much energy over something that gets me nothing because the next act will occur based on a length of time, not player action.
In other words, trying to solve the mystery is pointless. Just wait for the next part of the story.

Wasn't a superweapon, just a piece from the Eve Gate. Think it's a magnetic field inverter using strangelets to create a stable inverted magnetic field. That would explain how it spread out among the Minmatar fleet with a single discharge. Crippled the shields and power systems, which allowed her personal bodyguard of imperial Apocalypses to just burn through the lot (they do 1k+ dps apiece). Isogen-5 use merely connects it to wormhole technology. A detonation of Isogen-5 near a star could result in part of the stellar magnetic field being inverted and produce a directional discharge of stellar matter as have been witnessed in the Seylline incident. Caroline's star could have been created by detonating a lot of Isogen-5 inside a star, thus inverting the whole stellar magnetic field and creating a accelerated supernova with accompanying unstable wormholes and other hyperdimensional shenanigans, like the superluminal effect.
But all that is just speculation. Guess we'll never find out.

It is wrong to assume that the Terran's reappearance into the Eve Cluster would bring disaster. The Terran Empire could have fallen and rebuilt many times in that time period, similar to what happened in the Foundation series.
It's all theory-crafting, but anything could be said or done to make the Terrans as scary as the Jovians, or as annoying as the Amarrians.

In fact according to lore and books isogen five was used to fuel the primitive warp engines of the day and the fuel was strictly and tightly controlled by larger corporations, the tech the empress used was rumoured to be an engine component and was as such modified to be a weapon. |

Well I had an encounter with the sleepers - I had undocked from a station in null sec and I saw some sleeper rats doing something to the station, it wasn't agressive but it was some weird kind of beam, and then when I attacked them the used it on me, but it didn't do anything to me, no damage no effects, nothing and I was in a PvE tengu |

Probably wouldn't be able to kill people who are cloaked, but for sure folks in say Combat Recons who only have DSCAN immunity I could see that.
I think the most interesting aspect is they are now shooting back...and these little buggers are everywhere, not just in HS. I wonder if they can warp to the unscanned sites. Would be interesting if you were just AFK mining in a Gas site or something to come back dead due to rats. Or warp to POS.
I bet they progressively come stronger the longer they are out and about. More Resistance, more Damage. Like T3 NPC's. After all T3's do come from their tech and are highly adaptable to many situations.
I can see it now, Nullbear McTearyEye sitting with his carrier outside a pos running a 10/10 in his quick lock Paladin and assigned Fighters. When suddenly Woken Seeker's lands a small gang of 10 Circadian dropping 500 DPS a pop with 100K EHP OMNI Tanks, they melt McTearyEyes Carrier, and start smashing his undefended POS where they enter siege mode with a staggering 10K DPS.
Oh whos that in the Paladin Nullbear lands on grid, some Circadian switch to Brawler configurations with Battleship like DPS from a cruiser sized frame. Nullbear calls out for help...but everyone is docked in the staging system waiting on a timer fight, and Nullbear should have been there instead of losing 6B to rats. |

You have to shoot them first. AFK-Cloakers can't shoot first because they are AFK... that's why AFK-Cloakers can't harm anyone.
But yes, if you warp away from combat those Seekers will follow you - they even follow to your safespots anywhere in system - they even follow if you covops-cloak while warping away.
But no, they won't decloak you because they land 20km away on grid but will come back to you every 60-90 seconds...

As I mentioned in the post above yours... you need to attack the Seekers, otherwise they ignore you.
I havn't found a way to attack something while I am AFK.
No, there won't be tears of AFK cloakers or autopiloting freighter pilots (yet).
Tears will still be a Gäó of people complaining against AFK cloakers.

Possibly by the time it comes to fruition the present mechanics of travel and the status quo around it will be so nerfed as to be unrecognizable, but the mastery of the new means will put those who put in the effort at a greater advantage over those who do not.

A builds gate in Q that links to Y
B who lives in Y has no link to Q so they have to either take worm holes or build a gate to stop A invading them.
C makes gates to all systems in range and keeps blowing the ones made that links to their system. They cyno home after they do this.

These little scanning sleepers and cloaked structures couldn't have come at a better time for me. The Rhea graphics updates have all but locked me out of actually playing Eve (crummy graphics card that apparently can't handle the update).
Two thumbs up to whichever group at CCP set this in motion, following this thread has led me to read more chronicles, research Eve lore, and generally kept my interest in the game alive!
I'm excited to see what, if anything, evolves from this in the future. |

Thanks all for the informative replies concerning my post on Terrans! Wasn't aware Jamyl's superweapon was a broken piece of Terran engineering built for a different purpose. Still darn scary, makes you wonder what kind of weapons the Terrans do have...
That guy sounds way to excited to get podded! Neat footage about Seekers attacking & destroying a ship & podding the player after.
Seems the story is evolving, curious where it'll all lead towards.

Well the press release from DED today certainly indicates they are going to be aggressive. I did notice them today on multiple gates, which begs the question what is going to happen to gankers and wardec corps on these gates waiting for easy targets to call in their kill accounts, feeling nice and safe...........
This could become quite interesting.
