Actually it is not easy. The new font is not just a new font, it is a new system for the font. If you read the dev blog that announced the font you will notice that they announced several technical changes to the system. Several times now Punkturis has said it is not possible.

I'm not sure about that. I'm not a programmer per s+¬. The experience I have sais that it isn't simple in most occasions, but If you have experience in that field that sais otherwise then i'd be happy to believe you.

That isn't nescisarily true. The font size can be changed per "object" And If you find it goofy looking, what do you think would be an alternative? Most sci-fi themed fonts aren't readable at all without them being quite big. Most of them are script letters and meant for big titles. A font like times new roman is actually specifically tailored to be readable and has more of a chance to make it as future typeface. I do agree it would really be bad to use that as eve font though.

this saddens my just like the new turret icons. The new turret icons were great and everybody cried because they couldn't adjust. Now we are stuck with hand drawn cannons in a Sci-Fi MMO.
It is just a font.

i've been staying up on that thread you linked. It's bullcrap. They should never have abandoned the old font. period. They could've fixed it without destroying it.

You're right, of course. It should be a choice and let's be honest, it's dead-easy with fonts, it's not a huge codebase change.
However, having said that, I for one am much happier with the new font, it is far easier to read. Drawback is all my windows have to be resized, but that's not a showstopper for me.
So thanks for the new font CCP - Just please consider giving us the choice of font to use. It's not difficult with Carbon.

I agree with OP that options are good. It seems strange that I can't choose from a large variety of fonts/sizes.
I also agree with OP that there should be a way to deactivate the logi warning (as there is with other warnings.)
I don't consider either of these two things significant enough to be worthy of anger or bitterness, but I'm a pretty mellow dude. |

Punkturis responded twice with no information, and what do they mean "not possible?" What the hell did they do. It should be a very easy feature to add.
What did they do? Hard code all the positions for the text? |

The new font is stored in EVE's .stuff files and appears to be in OpenType (.otf) format.
Assuming they're using the standard file format it really shouldn't be that much work to swap the .otf files for a different font, or add an option to select from a list of multiple fonts.
Of course it all depends on the architecture of their UI code. If they have proportions hard-coded, for example, then it would be a lot of work to make changes...however if that were true then it would be somewhat poorly-designed  .
Now if some enterprising individual could work out a way to replace the stuffed .otf files...  |
