I downloaded the patch manual but i cant install, i have 2,6 GB free space on C: (i cant make free any more) but thats to less.
Is there any way to say this stupid programm that it should do the Temp Files on E: and not on C: ( there is a greys out browse option but the programm dont let me choose it just start to install)
This is realy so anyoing and not the first time with EVE. |

What drive is your OS installed to?
There might be a way to tell your OS to put temporary install files on a different drive, but I don't know.
If this has happened before, I suggest you start looking for a hardware fix (bigger drive) to put whatever C:\ currently has on it.
I'll assume you have literally only your operating system on that drive, since you say you cannot make any more space. If you have only 2.6GB left after your OS, you really need to look into upgrading drives.
If you have other programs installed to C:\ like EVE, office suites, and other games... again, you need to look into buying some new hard drives to install your stuff on, instead of C:\
Either way, if your hard drive is full, you should be upgrading by now instead of looking for workarounds.
(This all assumes you have the money to upgrade) |

hem, maybe move your Eve on E:/ ? I guess you're using 2 HD's or partitions so there's not much of a choice.
Either you delete your p++rn videos, either you place your eve forlder somewhere else either you don't play.
You have to pick one

On C there is only the OS and i have no problem since years with this.
My Problem is that the installier puts the Tempfiles for installation on C: and the whole Update Process runs on C and i want that to do on E... |

Edit: It was pointed out that this may not work because of :CCP:
What OS? In recent Windows versions you can right click on "My Computer" / "Computer" choose Properties or go through Control Panel.
You'll want to go to Advanced (Advanced System Settings in Win7 Control Panel >System, on the left) , then Environment Variables.
You will see User Variables and System Variables. You can delete the User variables if you like (or change them) and go to System Variables to find TMP and TEMP and edit them to a path on E:.
Reboot. |

I feel your pain. I often partition my OS separately on C:/, with about 10-15gb spare which slowly fills over time with crap, and leaves me with about 5gb spare. For those who can't understand the reasoning behind doing this, just don't bother posting, it makes you look like a moron.
OP, if you haven't already done so, tell the OS to store temp files on another drive, google it, it's simple enough. However i don't think this will solve it, CCP have a way of making the simplest things difficult. Another option is to move the page file to a different drive, which could also give a slight performance boost if you put it on a separate physical drive.
Or you could buy a bigger drive and hope that the act of installing it magically unlocks the option to chose where CCP's program dumps the temp files for some reason... |

move games and stuff over to another drive and leave c for your OS The American public's reaction to the change was poor and the new cola was a major marketing failure. The subsequent reintroduction of Coke's original formula, re-branded as "Coca-Cola Classic", resulted in a significant gain in sales, leading to speculation that the introduction of the New Coke formula was just a marketing ploy |

*sigh* if people read the thread they'd know this is already done. This isn't about a small drive, it's about the OS partition being to small to hold the extra data from CCP.
This isn't a problem with his setup, If CCP used the system defined temp folder (like pretty much any other installer ever) instead of hardcoding their own, then he would have the choice of placing the temp files on any of the his other, much larger partitions. |

Download CCleaner (google it).
If you are like most people you will have a good couple of gigs of crap sitting on your C drive. This will get rid of it.
If it still doesn't have space for the temp file I will offer more suggestions.

CCP asks the system where to download to. That is, they ask "where's %TEMP?"
you can change where "%TEMP" points to by doing this:
1. Right click on My Computer 2. Click on "Properties" in the context menu 3. Switch to the "Advanced" Tab 4. Environment Variables button (it's near the bottom) 5. Highlight "TEMP", and click "Edit" 6. Change to where ever you want (give it the full path).
By default it will read "%USERPROFILE%\Local Settings\Temp"
On Windows XP, that corresponds to C:\Documents and Settings\Mirimia Thunder\Local Settings\temp\
(bolded part will be your username on your PC. I just used my toon's name).
I'm not sure about Win Vista or Win7, but the steps should be nearly the same.
and if CCP doesn't use that folder well they just ******* fail and need to start using it I love the the smell of victory in the morning. It smells like... Blood, vomit and burning flesh. I Like You. I'll Kill You Last. |

A lot of people, as can be testified by the multiple threads on this subject. And we dont blame Eve, we are blaming CCP who programmed the updater. The check where the user would want to save the patch should be the most basic thing ever to program.
I had more than 1 terabyte of free space on my hardrives. Which could not be utilized because the updater did not ask where it could save the file.
And once more there are people referring to straw men arguments in defense of CCP. *shakes head*
Whether people should update their PCs is an entirely separate issue. iirc my sisi installer did the exact same thing with a 16GB or so sisiclient.. Whatever it was, it was lot more than 2,6GB. |

Production of 3.5'' drives was hit directly and 2.5'' drives followed suit as ~80% of the worldwide production capacity of drive motors was taken out.
Occasionally you can still find remaining stocks of cheap external 3.5'' drives (check mom&dad PC stores with low turnover) - just rip off the casing.
Maybe buy SSDs. |

If your C:\ drive is NTFS formatted and you have another partition / mounted drive that has plenty of free space you can mount it again as a Directory path. Its an win2K/XP/Vista Win7 feature that's rarely used.
Example I had "I:\" drive with plenty of space - on my OS (XP) the Repair-tool autopacher directory is "C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\CCP\EVE\repair_download_cache" , Using control panel "Disk Management" I added that directory path as a second mount point for I:\ drive and anything written to that directory is actually then written to the root of the I:\ drive.
Vista and/or Win7 the path for the Repair-tool autopacher is likely different and the only thing to keep in mind is the directory has to be EMPTY when you adding it as a 2nd mount point - but that directory should be empty anyway.

Hi, HDD space needed is as follows:
On C: at least 15GIG free for Eve Temp file to installed, this does not take into windows and memory resident programmes already running.
20 GIG free is better and installation goes faster.
If Eve is installed to C:, then you need even more space, as client needs to be updated and added to.
My eve directory is at 10.5 GIG at since patch
cheers
