Many options.
Sensible ones:
Rattler for raw DPS
Any Marauder for easy bastion tanked goodness
Mach becasue the time saved with extra warp speed makes up for a lot of DPS
ishtar becasue it is awesome and may well get nerfed shortly so may be a last chance to fly a good one
Less sensible option:
Dual boxing some crazy combo like a VNI plus a bomber

I was using a lot of ships for lvl4. In my opinion Machariel is the best. It's fast, agile, insta pops frigs with autocannons from little distance, can pop orbiting cruisers. Does sick damage to BS at it's optimal. And it can hit up to 90k.
Also I am having a bit of fun with Gila.
Don't like Rattlesnake, because it's toooo slow. Turns like a brick and top speed with afterburner is only around 300 m/s. |

Mach is still very good because the warp speed plays a big part in mission efficiency. It does very solid dps (1200 easily) with very good on-grid mobility as well so you never have to waste time with MJD triangles or slowboating to gates. Just slap an MWD on there and just MWD up into a group of rats while popping frigs on the way, then drop sentries once you're 30km or so from a group and murder everything. You can easily use the good speed and MWD to maximize your dps, minimize transversal and get to mission items/gates fast. |

even with deadspace afterburner it goes 600 m/s which is very good for a BS |

I'm using myrmidon for all my l4 missions now since I'm fed with the crap state of bs & marauders.
Edit: two-slot armor tank myrm.

imo the drone/missile combo is just a headache, the only way I can manage with a rattler is with a mjd, sentries, and some auto-targeting missiles, or as an assist platform.
I still stand by my earlier answer of paladin, you get to sit there and poof npcs all day long!

if the TE nerf didn't happen I'd be all over that... heck it still is probably a decent idea, I just find it works so well with armor I haven't been all that tempted to try the shield version yet.

And their speed nerf... made me feel like I'm always in the bastion. I hated bastion, I died because of bastion, mourn mourn mourn.... At the end, I didn't like the idea neither. But since it is an implemented mechanic, the only theme for me to train for gallente bc V, thanks for the medium mjd I can now do lvl4 missions with 4 sentries like any other bs hull with much lower signature. The only exception might be dominix or any other drone boat yet to be implemented. Drones... No firing cost, no cargo space, good range, good tracking. Price efficiency 10/10. Time efficiency 8/10. What else could I want? ^.^

You're right about the Te nerf hurting it but when you can fit three of them in the lpws and apply just over 800dps at 91km optimal with scortch it's a beast

Most fun? The hardest to survive in.
I liked using a faction cruiser for L4's. One had to actually play Eve to complete an L4 in one. There is nothing fun about uber-tanking a billion isk ship to AFK content- all for a few million in payout.
Even more fun- a few small ships with friends where you can practice building a fleet around specific fleet roles and take turns being an FC.
Nowhere would I define making content trivially easy as 'fun'. Uber tanking and watching TV while rats barely scratch you is hardly gripping entertainment. Grab some friends, work out some fleet doctrine and tactics....see if it works. Spamming F1 for the umpteenth time in a ship costing 1000x the actual payout of a given mission is dull and unoriginal. |

I mess up my bastion timing sometimes when I'm hammered, rest of the time I usually do fine. plus you are only stuck for a min at most, good excuse for another drink or a ****.
when you hit 1100+ dps at 72km speed isn't really a priority. plus 900 something m/s is fine for lv4s. and I'd probably just stick with the ishtar and skip the eos, but hey, using sentry drones makes me want to take a nap, they can do their own thing and you don't really have to worry about them much. Also I have no clue why anyone would want drones for a weapon platform in lv4s other than to go afk. they are less entertaining than mining. and also the income is awful using sentries as a main weapon.

I can do that with tracking comps no problem and fit a sensor booster, although I tend to drop one for a prop mod. having the tracking bonus all the time sounds nice though, and honestly the optimal range is probably enough anyways. and when I plant to shoot at 90km I bring the tachyons.

I did that "missing cycle" while playing like maniac under neut pressure between tons of npcs, I know I called it myself but lost the ship anyways :D

You're right about projection, hence my gameplay is rather like shooting while moving. I liked to watch that manuavering between NPCs, bastion hammered that abit, and while trying to get use to it, I lost the ship.
For the drone part, you're correct to the bits, however I can tell that it hurts income a little bit but not that much. Bastion gameplay is not much different than drone gameplay, except ship can take more dps pressure and more looting speed/capacity, which sometimes exceeds in normal hulls.
