I think the OP is onto something. Merge points 3 & 4. No ships, we all just have one big drone with one big gun on it. NPC corp pilots don't get the gun as an incentive to join a corp. To further reduce lag when you join a corp you just share the one corp drone. The drone gets 1 extra hp for every member in the corp and everyone gets to take turns shooting the gun.
