This thread needs to be a tribute to those people that were working that day like normal when planes slammed into their office tower and killed them, not on your views on the world.
Keep this thread about the people who died ffs, its the least we can do to them to remember what they went through.
I totally agree with that dude, but I will not stand by and watch as these two fools mock and berate the event and try to downplay its importance to the United States and to the world. If they didn't like then they didn't have to read it.
Part of America is supposed to be tolerance, mind you. Everyone here should keep that in mind and just show some self-restraint, on both sides of the subject.

You claim to be in the American armed forces. I seriously doubt anyone in that position could be so unprofessional as you.
If it isn't positive or flowing with the thread then it has no place in it and if you was educated in it, you would know full damn well that what you and ole crumple was preaching about would start a huge fire. I came to the thread today looking to start an honest thread on the same subject but not just focused around my country but mainly about the sacrifices of many trying to make our world a safer place. It was then I caught what you and Crump'ed was barking off about and THAT boiled my blood. Quid pro quo dude.

Take it in this light. If I punched you in the nose, wouldn't you get mad? If a I tried to calm you down and try to tell you its ok and a little later punched you in the nose again. Wouldn't you get a bit more ****ed. Wouldn't you at one point or another start fighting back? In the beginning after I punched you in the nose or after it got bloodied after two or three times, the reaction is the same. Think about that and how it reflects this event in history and about your comments on this thread. When will you say enough is enough to keep it from happening again. What would you do to keep it from happening again even though people don't want you to fight back, would you just continue standing there or eventually fight back. Think about it.

If you are having trouble dealing with the tragedy of September 11, 2001, then call a hotline and talk to someone.
People who bring up such a tragedy on a computer game forum are looking for one thing: attention.
Such a post is just another way to capitalize on the sorrow of those that truly suffered that day. Seems to be a lot of that going around (watch CNN).
Lastly, the mere act of reminding someone of the events on Sept. 11 is in a way trivializing the event itself. Having to say "we will never forget" is also to say that one could forget the attacks, and thus begins the process of relegating the day to the pages of a history textbook.
Such rememberence is best left to the family room.

No use digging up memories of this painful event. People dying doesn't require a "tribute."

I was pretty sure I'd run into someone who'd disagree with me, but I honestly never thought I'd run into the likes of you. I thought people like you were an urban myth to make europeans dislike americans. Making the world a safer place is what I'm all about; I do not feel safe with the biggest superpower in the world attacking arbitrary countries. ----------

Coming from someone who lives in NYC, works in Manhattan, and has been around Downtown/Battery Park/Financial District/WTC more times than I can count:
Today is another work day for most of us. We still go into the office, we still do our jobs, it's no different than other days - save for the media circus circling about like half starved vultures.
A lot of people here and elsewhere lost people close to them on that day, or as a direct result of it. It wouldn't do any harm to stop and reflect for a moment, *privately*, on how those events have changed the world. It doesn't require ceremonies, TV shows or silly Hollywood dramatizations. You've never met a New Yorker if you think it does. That's all the media's horn-blowing that you're seeing.
Please also remember that here in NYC, we weren't the only ones affected directly on 9-11-01. United Flight 93 went down in Shanksville, PA. Additionally, the people aboard American Airlines Flight 77 that hit the Pentagon - that too was not here in NYC. (before you break out your tinfol hats and spout off theories about a second plane on the grassy knoll and maybe some UFO's doing damage to the Pentagon, please go read snopes: http://www.snopes.com/rumors/pentagon.htm)
We'll get by just fine here in NYC. We appreciate all the sentiment, but really the average New Yorker wishes that the media would just bugger off and let us carry on. Al Qaeda made their political statement at the expense of a bunch of civilians. And it sparked a global sh*tstorm, like it or not. Bickering on a game forum will accomplish exactly nothing. Finding ways to resolve any issues and get our soldiers home and back out of harm's way once that is achieved is paramount.
And sure, Bush is well - less than ideal, and I'll keep my personal opinions out of here, as this isn't a political debate. But I challenge all of you who rant, rave, and flame each other to fully educate yourselves as to the events that lead up to 9-11, and why they did. You'll find the Clinton administration had no small part in ****ing off certain parties in the middle east, along with Bush Sr, Reagan, and yes even Carter. It's nothing new - go read your Chomsky for starters and find out why things are the way they are.
There are no 'innocent' governments, and criticizing one over another is an exercise in naivety. And so is assuming that a government is a proper indicator of the people it governs. Politicians have always been politicians - bickering over semantics means little. Let's work on the solution, not argue over the problem.
It's a sunny and beautiful 68* (F) here in NYC, can't bring myself to argue.

My boots have more wit then both of you put together. I'm getting out very soon like in 5 1/2 months anyways. To much political crap in the military. I've had enough of it after 8 years of service and want to enjoy life with my new wife. Thats only to educate you since you are more clueless then me.
I hope he does so they can lock the thread. Everyone including myself have already railed off the thread from its purpose thanks going to ISS. this will be remembered in knowing the morality and caliber of people you two really are.

I'll never cease to be amazed by all the heroic efforts in the midst of this tragedy, and all the security personnel that gave their lives to save others. Words are just not enough.
However I feel I also need to send a thought to all the innocent people, civilians aswell as soldiers, that have died ever since, ironically in what has been labeled a war on terror, by the terrorists leading it. May it be in Iraq or Afghanistan, Madrid or London, and elswhere in the world.
Let's pod all those people with a too big desire to wield their power, and then all NAP eachother and live in peace.
agreed. One of the few proper posts in this ******* stupid political hatred thread.

Edited by: Alejandro Zapata on 11/09/2006 18:41:52 Allow those who wish to honor the dead do so, it is their right in this forum of relatively free speech. Those that wish to debate the merits of the military campaigns in Afghanistan and Iraq should take it elsewhere.
To any of you that lost loved ones five years ago today, my thoughts and prayers (if you wish them) go out to you, and I hope life eventually becomes easier and better without them.

From a brit here in UK, 9-11 will be a day I'll never forget, my thoughts are to the victims and the families on this day.
The twin towers will remain symbolic to me that extremists will be wiped out one day and leaves me with the hope that normal peace loving people of this Earth no matter what creed, colour, race and religion will continue to prosper.

This thread will get the lock after my post. The reason behind this decition is that it really has no place on a forum like this. We have players from around the globe and a topic like this will only stir up a heated discussion and new conspiracy theories. Theories that we dont need.
Simply, there are other forums on the internet to discuss politics and the happenings of 9/11.
I hope you all can accept this.
