There's no difference in innate ability in Eve, so any kind of competition for females only would be patronising and insulting. I'd actually like to see many sports start treating men and women equally, where there's no height/weight/muscle advantage, or where it's compensated by agility/etc. Darts, bools, curling, snooker, possibly even association football, I see no reason to bar women from competing with men. Edit : Something else that also bothers me is the occasional reminder of the apparent desperation of some of the playerbase here. Go beat off to ****, and if you want female companionship, turn off the PC and go meet some.

I might suggest 'Right, get rid of that useless guy, he's dead weight' and get agreed with, try 'Um, she's absolutely useless and doesn't know one end of a gun from another' and get set upon by a brigade of chauvinistic hormone fuelled geeks. I've actually yet to see it in Eve, as far as I can remember. On the other hand they've got it harder, they're 'only girls' they can't use voice comms without guys hassling them. That I've seen in Eve and it's really quite saddening. Because of those I suspect there's a lot more females in Eve, who don't advertise they're female, and won't use voice comms, simply so they don't have to deal with all the baggage attached. Maybe some day there will be a thread, where thousands of Eve players 'come out' as being female. And before we know it, we've got a much less patronising game.

Although there is quite often the 'Oh, a girl !' effect, when someone notices them for the first time, the girls can deal with it, it usually normalizes really fast and then it's not different to friends in RL or something like a mixed bowling club. If you freaked out there, because of a girl, you'd look silly, too. I mean most players are over twenty, quite a lot over thirty with girl-friend or with a wife and kids. Guess it's the same in most alliances. Eve beeing the only online game ive played i cant say i have any knowledge of other games females play and how they act there, but yes there is properbly a lot of girls in eve that get a easy ride because they are girls but comon what fun is that? I worked my way up the hard way not by getting the blokes in my corp/alliance all hot and bothered by the fact im female. And tbh beeing a woman in eve thats out to prove that she is "somebody" amongst her corp/alliance m8s is hard stuff because of the double standards and you need to work twice as hard for them to think of you as one of the lads or their equal. The guys i play with treat me like one of the lads and i dont expect nor want to be treated any diffrently regarding my status in the corp/alliance. That ofc doesnt mean i dont like to wind them up now and then :P i am after all a girl but i worked hard to get where i am and in the end those that matter know that.
