Broke through six million skill points about 2 hours after DT today. Has anyone else reached this mark yet or am I the first?

Well, if I had got the game at release day, and been playing beta, I would have been there too now. Add the bug that existed early on, and I guess some exploiters are close to 7M

FYI.
Started game the day after launch.
Never played beta
Didn't learn how to train skills for 2 days
Have never exploited anything, when I thought there was a bug in my skill points, I reported it immediately to both the GM's and the Devs and both said it was fine.

Gratz! I'm still only in the 4m, but a buddy who started at the same time with a better initial attributes and full learning is now around 5m+ | Join eve-webring.com to promote your site. |

I didn't say you exloited the bug I expected you got it on release day, and said I would have been to brake 6M about now if I had done that too.

I started about a week after release (12th May I think) and have 5,3M. If you add up all the missed hours and days I've probably lost a week or so of training along the way. Having some terrible attributes apart from willpower didn't help too much either...still not too bad all things considered.

I started in beta, got my retail copy just after release and I'm about to hit 4M... Probably because a lot of the skills I've trained haven't been skills with attributes my character has high.
Attributes make all the difference.

I have been playing since the spring and sort of neglected my skills at the beggining ( hey didnt we all? ) but now that i have got all my learning skill up to lvl5 that should make a BIG difference ...but at the moment my skills are just up to 3.5 million .its a slow process but .worth it in the long run I hope .

I also have Learning lvl 5.
total skill points little over 5.8mil
Were it not for all the perception and willpower skills I have trained i am sure i would have a much higher over all skill point total. Started day 2, had 4 days of indicison and reconfiguration of character and lost out on the RollBack skill gains :(

Back in June I noticed some of my skills seemed to be going up in points even though I wasn't training them. On July 7th I started recording all my skill points in a spreadsheet at DT each day, and with the exception of a few days, I've done so since. As well as noting down how my points changed, I also recorded what I had done that day. I soon noticed that doing certain things caused certain skills to train themselves. from then onwards, I concentrated on two things, one was training only skills that didn't train themselves unless I had to, and doing as much in the game as I could to make skills train themselves.
For example, I noticed early on that when I went round a region collecting a region wide buy order of minerals, by using a mixture of overdrives, nanofibers and cargo expanders to keep my ship in a max speed min volume configuration throughout the trip, visiting something like 30 stations in 25 systems, using my afterburners all the time I was in subwarp travel, I could easily earn 4000 sp on Afterburner, 3000-4000 on Hull Upgrades and 500-1000 on Mechanic. In a 24 hour period then I would typically train between 28K and 35K SP depending on what I was training, but I would "earn" a further 5K-10K from doing things.
I can't be bothered to go through my spreadsheet and add it up accurately, but I would expect tha from my current total of 6.12M SP, probably between 1.2 and 1.5M of those points have been "Earned" rather than trained.

Edited by: Stradivarious Hawke on 25/10/2003 20:41:34 I find it interesting to underline that most of the attribute values listed here are the displayed ones and not the real ones . I was puzzled at first because my values seemed lower but then I remembered about this . My attributes are : (baseline/displayed /effective ) Intelligence : 7/15/14 4 analytical/implant Perception : 10/15/14 4 spatial Charisma : 9/16/15 3 empathy/implant Willpower : 9/17/16 4 iron will/implant Memory : 4/11/11 4 instant/implant
totals : 39/74/70
This makes me believe that the displayed values take into account the learning skill level, as somebody said not long ago. Displayed = effective x [ 1+ (0.02xlearning skill level )]
Forgot to add that I have learning skill level 4 .

Yup, it's important to notice that the displayed attributes are not correct. I have 18/17/9/12/17 displayed, while correct is 17/16/9/12/16.
If I count on skill training time it exactly matches:
Number of points gained in 60 seconds = (correct primary + correct secondary/2) x 1.08 (learning 4) Which also means that the description on the learning skill is wrong

Just broke the 5M limit and proud of it :)
I was 2 weeks late after the release.. Couldt get a damn copy here in sweden :(
All learning skills lvl 4 (yah I know, I should have em at 5) Implants on everything but memory.
The last few months I have been training shaceship comand allmost exlucevly. 17/17(displayed) perc/will helps a lot with that.
I do have 15 of the 17 scapceship command skills to atleast lvl 3, over half at lvl 4. Working on amarr BS4 atm, allready got gal BS4, atm there are only 6 ships avalible to players that I can't fly.
Cheers; Perrin

Don't you have a better way to spend your time training skillz? A big cunck of your 5 mill skills is worthless considering you can only be flying 1 of those ships at a time. You'll be able to fly ships, but be worthless in them. People should specialize more >_< _________________________________________________________

Edited by: Syme on 30/10/2003 09:18:43 Just to confirm that you can have all five implants installed. This is not dependant on the level of the Cybernetics skill, which I presume will need to be at higher levels to install more complex implants.

Mwuhaha...6,697,000 skill points as of a minute ago. Attributes are:
Intelligence 20 Perception 12 Charisma 12 Willpower 15 Memory 23
Level 5 learning skills across the board and implants across the board except for charisma.
I set this account up specifically to be an industrialist and scientist, giving heavy weight to the memory and intelligence attributes.
My training regimen began with the memory-intelligence-learning skill rotation all the way up to level 5. I then trained the other learning skills to level 5 before beginning training of all of the industry and science skills.
The Doctor should cross the seven million skill point mark in less than a week

Just so you know, those aren't your real values.
Baseline attribute points : 39 ( same for everybody ) level 5 learning skills across the board = 25 4 implants = 12 total = 39+25+12 = 76
Your displayed total : 20+12+12+15+23 = 82
82-76 = 6 points too much =)
I'd say that your true attributes are something like : 19 intelligence 11 perception 11 charisma 14 willpower 21 memory.
Cheers.

Learning adds 2% to your attributes directly rather then detracting 2% from the learning time.
The value you see is truncated.

lol
Where do you think my numbers come from ? :D Those I listed are his real values and then it's the learning skill that makes them increase. Some people just don't realize that and use the displayed values to calculate the training time using the formula skill points per minute = (primary + secondary/2)x( 1+ 0.02xlearningskilllevel ).
In fact, if you use that formula you notice that there is a difference when you use the real values and the displayed ones. I'll make an example with a skill I'm training now. Small projectile turret (rank 1) Primary : willpower secondary : perception
level 2 ( 1415 ) ---> level 3 ( 8000 ) 8000 - 1415 = 6585 skill points to gain.
I begin training and the time required is : 4 hours and 25 minutes
My stats are willpower : displayed 17 effective : 16 perception : displayed 15 effective : 14 learning skill level 4
time calculated using the effective values in the above formula :
6585/[(16+7)x(1+0.08)] = 265.097 minutes = 4.42 hours = 4 hours and 25 minutes
Using the displayed values , you get :
6585/[(17+7.5)x(1+0.8)] = 249 minutes
As you can see, you get the correct result when you use the effective values.
Please, re-calculate ?
