I use only projectile... and all of my support skills are 3, most are 4. I have Controlled Bursts in my skillbook but it's not trained to rank 1 ;) and I'm not sure if it's worth training *at all*... Any tips? |

well if you have it the 15 minutes or so it takes to train it to level 1 won't hurt you 
but I was actually wondering the same thing (I bought the skill yesterday without thinking about it's usefullness)

Not unless you plan on using guns other than projectiles or missiles as they use 0 cap.

Only useful for hybrid turrets and lasers. No benefit whatsoever for projectiles or missiles.

15 minutes could be spent more usefully training a skill that does actually help you

i trained it pre cap removal and then it was only at lv 2 since i just bought all gunnary skills

Level 1. 
Anyway, it's not a needed skill, nope. Since projectiles no longer use any cap whatsoever it's only for lasers and hybrid guns nowadays.

I believe controlled bursts reduces the amount of cap mining lasers use, so the skill has some vague use for minmatar ships.

train it to 5, or else your gunnery skillsheet will look retarded

There is also a skill under science which increases ore yield while most of the skills in there are used for R&D

Uh...no. Mining Lasers are not affected by Controlled Bursts.

I've got it trained to level 3, but to be fair that was done before Tux removed all cap use from projectiles. Now, for a minmatar specialist there is no point at all.

Does Controlled Bursts affect Smartbombs? If so this would still provide a reason to learn it as a Minmatar.

Doesn't hurt to train it up a level or two, you never know if later on down the line it may come in handy.

Because a skill that affects missile launchers (weapon upgrades and advanced weapon upgrades) is under the gunnery skill tree. Still you are correct, but do not put it past the skills of one tree affecting the modules of a completely different tree.
BUT, you are right, controlled bursts does not affect mining lasers.

not worth it anymore, unfortunately i trained it to 4 before they removed cap for minmatar.
