Edited by: Swor on 15/09/2006 04:50:05 Edited by: Swor on 15/09/2006 04:48:41 I have been playing this game for 6 months, not that long in the grand scheme of things, but of that 6 months i have spent atleast 5 months pvping full time in 0.0...
40% of my kills in that time were as myself as part of a gang, picking on people "Ratting" hauling or mining in 0.0 belts (AKA Ganks)
30% of my kills were from massive low sec gatecamps (AKA Ganks)
25% of my kills were from baiting an enemy fleet to engage a partial group of our fleet then pouncing on them at range and wiping them out (AKA Ganks)
5% of my kills are solo 1v1 where i got lucky and picked the right target
in 6 months i have lost 90 ships and 27 capsules in the same time i have been part of 796 ship kills and 420 poddings
i eat and breathe pvp, our gangs rarely exceed 15 people, and yet pvp is getting so frustrating.
our targets see us enter local and no matter how fast we can scan, they are already in warp to the station/POS/safespot
if your not going to remove local showing who is in system, atleast give us a chance, delay our appearance in local by 30 seconds, thats it, 30 seconds, its all i need to get double the fights and make 0.0 a lot more risky. but this only helps us get more ganks...
removing local all together though to me is the perfect solution to what i see as the greatest limiting factor to fair fights
we have come up against fleets equal in number(even ones that outnumber us) 90% of the time it turns into a waiting game of seeing who is going to make the first move, or the first mistake, and then never actually turns into a fight as one side gets bored and leaves...
the sencond biggest threat to PvP in 0.0 is the dreaded POS, it takes 1 billion isk worth of pos to tie up 10 billion isk worth of dreadnaughts for several hours, if your not going to make pos's weaker than make dreadnaughts stronger hitting... not many people have hours to waste shooting at a pos, reinforcement mode rarely leads to a fight or anything useful to anyone and POS guns make it so if there ever is a fight its very hard to protect your dreadnaughts
as for snipers, i agree with the views of one person in this post that said when does long range ever mean high damage?
if a tachyon has the longest range it should have the lowest damage, else what reason is there to ever use a dual heavy laser or dual 250mm railguns in pvp?\
so many good posts after page 3 i agree with what Jasmine said but people need to keep reading
