I'm not sure how old I was, but probably around 10-13. We were walking around in the city with the class, and came to a crossing.
As usual, I wasn't really paying attention to my surroundings, and didn't notice that the lights turned red for the walkers (ie me), and I just walked right ahead into the street.
I stopped when someone called my name, and a split second later I had 1 car going past me at full speed in front of me and another at full speed behind me.

When I was a little kid I was standing on a corner watching a bike race in Milwaukee, as little kids typically do, I was off in space daydreaming or something, and a group of bikers crashed, my dad pulled me out of the way at the last second.
I was at Badger Hockey Showdown (also as a kid) and a puck came flying up and once again, my dad saved my life, he stuck his hand out right before the puck hit my forehead and deflected it. Too bad the person behind me caught is so I didn't get to keep it.
When I was really young (like toddler years up until maybe first grade or kindergarden) I would cry until I passed out, so my parents would just let me do that, but one time I passed out and stopped breathing. So my dad put me on the counter and gave me mouth to mouth until the ambulance came.
At birth I had the umbilical cord wrapped around my neck and had to be delivered emergency C-Section.
So I guess I should be thankful for my dad, 3/4 times that I was almost killed or severly injured he saved me.

About 3am on the 25th June this year I was riding home on my GSX-R600 [NO THAT'S NOT ME ] on a dual carriageway just outside of London. Going slightly faster than I should have been at around 80-85mph, I was changing between the two lanes and I see two eyes caught in the glare of my headlights. I panicked like a true legend, tried to pass round the Fox that was sitting in the middle of the road but alas my front wheel slid on the painted line at the side of the road.
I landed face first and for what seemed like an eternity all I could see was sparks flying as my visor was being shaved down to nothing by the road. Ended up in a tangled heap in the central reservation, got up straight away somehow, picked my bike up which had got back up on 2 wheels after sliding and managed to travel another 100 yards on its own, walked it to the layby next to the road before realising that my boots had been torn off along with my socks, I had a scrap of material left that was once a pair of jeans and my right foot didn't really look much like a foot anymore and at that point collapsed in a heap.
I was really lucky, a woman was parked up in that deserted layby because she was feeling tired and saw me slide by using my balls as brakes and was able to phone an ambulance while asking me some very silly questions like 'are you alright?' I got away with 9 broken bones in my foot which have all healed although I can't wiggle my toes yet! A broken wrist which is still healing, abrasions aplenty and a passionate hate for wiley foxes.
Moral of the story if you ride bikes, wear full protective gear, run over foxes and if this does happen to you, make sure you get your fair share of morphine at the hospital, best damn experience of my life.

1990 Hit by a car whilst on my motorbike. Really hurt and I thought I was seriously injured but only had a broken ankle.
1992 on holiday in Greece, discovert a drink called a Zombie (citrus drink with lots of alcohol) drank them all night and woke up in hospital the next day. I'd collapsed in the street and was choaking on my own vomit (glad it wasn't someone elses tbh).

To name a few...
I was doing 20 to 40mph (not sure, the things are fast and it was a while ago) on a four-wheeler on a friend's family's ranch. Rust coloerd goggles hid the barbed-wire fence until I was driving right through it. My helmet caught, by about a centimeter or so, the strip of wire that should've at the very least punctured my jugular and could've removed my head completely. I still have scars from that experience.
I was out camping with the Boy Scouts... deep, DEEP in the woods... standing next to a cliff when some dumb shmuck of a person decided to throw a rock the size of a softball (for those that don't know the size, picture a CD's diametered sphere with jagged edges). It SLAMMED into the back of my head spilling... well... an ass load of blood. While I'm bleeding, I am forced to hike somewhere in the vacinity of 3 miles back to our car, and then drive another 30 minutes or so to the nearest hospital (this was before cell-phones were tiny and worked everywhere).
I was walking home from the grocery store one night. I had to cross the street to get where I was going. This is a pretty busy street, so I do the resposible thing. I go to the next traffic light, and I wait for it to turn red. Well, waiting there put me behind that metal box that controls the lights and an electrical pole. So, the light turned red, and something in me told me to wait a couple extra seconds. I was right about to cross the street when a truck came FLYING by and literally missed my foot by a few inches. Time actually slowed down when I made eye contact with the driver of that car.
So yeah, I've had more, but those I remember pretty well. --- --- --- ---

2 for ur entertainment.
1) riding my bike (25 years ago now) - came off on a tight bend (was on the pavement) - bke went sailing forward onto the road with me following. - - BIG four wheel drive passes straight over my head as i lie looking up at it. It stops ontop of my bike and with me diagonally underneath it. the lady driver was somewhat hysterical thinking she had killed me. I crawled out from under (useal cut knees and elbows) - i was totally cool about it and offered here 'help' at which point i was given something of a bear hug by this lady. Shw drove me home, went straight away and bought me a new bike!! - something of a result.
2) about 2 years ago, I walked out of work. I consider myself quite observant. I was 'looking' right at a T junction leading onto the road i was on. The OLD OLD guy at the junction was in a brand new volvo. All of a sudden the volvo lept forward accelerating hard straight into the traffic coming acroos him on the main road. He clipped the back of a vectra throwing the front of his car up a little bit the engine GUNNED MAX OUT. As the front wheels touch the ground the tyres LIGHT up as (this guy who now is looking like a passenger) the car lands and starts accelerating HARD STRAIGHT at me )))) - - - Just where i was - there were 2 lamposts about 10 feet apart. I was looking him in the eyes and trying which way to jump. i processed in my mind that if he hit either lampost the dam thing would come down on my head!!! - - i faced the car, knees bent. decided left and jumped for my dear life ))) - - - he grazed one of the lamposts as he mounted the pavement at about 40 mph i guess and SLAMMED into the house behind burying the car up to the windscreen in the house.
With the engine still racing and the tyres still spinning HARD (the car had been lifted slightly by the bricks) i ran up and opened the door. Smoke billowed out, the airbags had gone off and the guy was more than dazed. I turned the engine off, removed the keys and dragged him out (whilst trying to keep his head straight) as the smell of fuel started to become obvious. Infact this was fuel from the engivne bay and not the tank so ws not a real threat.
When the ambulance arrived he told me what had happened. His family had forced him to sell his old manual (Stick shift) volve and buy and automatic. He had tried to stop at teh T junction and had gone to press teh clutch with his left foot and the brake with his right. Sadly with only 2 pedals in the car he had lifted his left foot (off the brake) thinking the CLUTCH was making the engine rev. From that moment on he had pushed his right foot harder and harder on the brake (Actually teh accelerator) in an attempt to stop. He was confused as to why he had just kept going faster and faster!!!!!
One of my mates from work had seen this unravel. He said watching me pose myself for a jump for life was one of the most funny - horrifying things he had evere seen!!!
I got hit with the adrenelin rush about 20 minutes later - - nothing a good 5 cigarettes didnt sor tout -p

well, mine wasnt really "close", it was more of a direct hit but anyway..
me and my buddy were walking in tunnel when i heard something really loud and going very fast approaching behind me. We were really close to the wall so i didnt bother looking back. My friend looked back and decided that it would be hilarious to yell WATCH OUT!!
He did, and it made me spontanously run to the other wall to avoid getting hit, directly into the path of a mountainbike going very fast (the tunnel was at the end of a sloped road). This was when i was about 11 or so and not very large in size so i got pretty badly hurt.
Could have been worse though, could have been a car ______________

5 years old, opened the backseat door and was halfway out of the car while car was speeding 80km/h. My mom managed to grab my jacket and pull me in.
9 years ago i worked ona fisherboat. Got too much fish in the net and boat almost turned over in the middle of open sea. Someone managed to release brakes on the wire just as we were about to turn around.
14 years ago i had a summerjob at a fishingvessel. We were cleaning the tanks as we were leaving for the field. Boat hit a big wave and i almost fell in the tank. about 10 meters down straight into pure metal. Luckily i managed to throw myself on the deck. I was balancing between 2 tanks at that time. Captain almost choked his coffee. Wouldnt be here today if i hadnt throwned myself.
Driven over by a car while i was bicycling. I was a bit reckless, got the sun in my face and didnt see the car comming out of a parking lot :P The driver, a woman, sat in the car completely frozen and was quite releaved when i rose up and only ended up with a bent tyre.
Crashed with a deer when i was 19. Gladly it didnt end up in my front window. And a few incidents more with crashes while i was young and reckless |

way to many with my bike (GPZ-550, it's a basket case now )
1) me in left lane, some chick in the right, so the stupid bimbo is driving in the lane next to me for a while, she decides she wants to make a left turn... flatspotted a tire, fortunately the truck behind me saw and locked his brakes too as his grill was REAL close
2) driving up the highway on my bike to my then gf's job to see her, some moron decides to slow down and block traffic so the 'evil biker' can't pass him, blocking me next to a semi, the semi started to move over due to traffic, had about 1inch clearance when I passed the car that was being a **** on the left in the curb, gave him a nice 2 handed behind the back salute and laughed as he tried to run me down from behind(he had his car pegged, and it wasn't even close)
3) and the one that put the bike into it's condition went around a notoriously bad corner, half mile from home, to see them doing tree work, and tree bits all over the road... back wheel slid sideways and dropped out from under me, the bike hit the ground trapping my right knee under it, slid a good 10-15 ft before(according to the person behind me) I KICKED the bike off me, the company doing tree work called the police and ambulance, the cop got there while I was picking the bike up, canceled the ambulance after I told him I didn't need it, took statements from everyone, the guys doing tree work were afraid I was gonna sue, the cop was asking me if I needed a tow-truck, and I was insisting that i'd be fine if I could get the bike to start, eventually he points out 'what about your knee', and I looked down saying what about it?, tore it up good, drove the bike to the hospital and was comparing scars with the DR, the close part was my wife almost killed me for not calling and saying where I was bike sat for about 3 yrs before she let me try to fix it, the carb was completely screwed and the tank rotted out in that time... I just can't force myself to get rid of it tho, praticly lived on it for a while, I put about 50k miles on it

Ah well, we can't let the motorcycles have it all.
I was driving along a major road (still only one carriageway either way) when a moron decides to overtake coming towards me. No room to maneuver, I hit the brakes hard and my wheels lose traction, my car starts sliding sideways off the road. Moron manages to avoid hitting me due to my braking, I come off the breaks to allow my wheels to grip again and manage to recover.
Fortunately this was one of the few such roads in the area without drainage ditches on either side.
Secondly, I was regularly travelling by train over the broken rails at Hatfield prior to the crash.

A spooky tale for you, I was after accomodation and saw a add in the local paper, phoned it up but had to leave a message on a answerphone, 2 weeks later the phone goes, a old man asks if I was still interested the job, confused I tell him its a wrong number. Later he phones again and asked if I was still after the job, turns out the accomodation came with the job, not after a new job I left it.
A few weeks later the news is filled with a farmhouse on fire and bodies found, sadly the whole family died, the old tenant/employee had a gruge after being sacked, came back with a friend killed the family and set fire to the farmhouse to hide evidence. It still haunts me to this day, the police checked on me as a part of the investigation, but it was a close call as it was near to my favorite stretch of the river Avon, I very nearly took the job!!

When i was 10 i used to play on the railway lines with a friend of myn. We used to put keys and wires to make them flat. Besides the fact im lucky these wern't electrified rails seeing as i used to put my head on the rail to listen for coming trains i had a rather interesting time one day.
The part i used to play on was at the end of a long, long stretch of straight track and the begining of a bend, but there was also a bridge so you couldn't see up the track for oncoming trains. We were standing on the left hand track, looking to the station where there was a train on the right hand track. Esentially i was standing on the track but looking the wrond way.
Well bizzarly i didn't here the thundering deisel engine coming round the corner, and neither did my friend till it beeped at us. Infact he didn't even hear it 'when' it beeped at us. So i have to run 5-10 metres down the track to drag my 7 year old friend by the scruff of the neck off the track narowlly avoiding being mown down.
We sit on the bank for a while catching our breath and we stand up to go look at that train on the other track, i hear a sound, i stop, he stops.. nothing. I take a step forward and get knocked off my feet by a second train hurtling passed. It didn't hit me, but i was taken 'off' my feet a good metre or so. We went home after that.
