the game would be much better with only one char slot imo
umm that would stop ppl avoiding sec hits and such but it would do a LOT more harm than good. if ccp dont want people recycling alts then put a limit on how often it can be done :/ and having only 1 char wont stop trial accounters doing the same still no reason to get rid of the other slots...

Thus far I have been more interested in keeping my ship in one piece. I actually considered ransoming someone last night, but was all too aware that we were quite evenly matched. It occured to me afterwards that he might have paid up despite, as it turned out, being in the better ship because the fight was quite close. Hey Xaph,
Great read. Co-incidentally I was kinda doing the same thing. My main account is banned for 10 days (long story) so I have created a second account. I was thinking of trying out the piracy thing and I chose caldari! In hind sight maybe I should have gone gallente but what they hey?
I got myself a kestie straight up and fitted her out and found out that the grid really sucks. I wanted to fit 4 light missiles but there ain't no room until I can get a Micro Aux Power Core into it :(
As a thought though. Are you interested in ganging up sometime and seeing what two kesties can do? I have enough money to afford a couple of replacement ships so don't mind losing.
If you are interested drop me an eve-mail.

I hear what you're saying Xaph.
But let me tell you some of my issues. I am an alt (second account). I was created not to pirate, but to carebear in order to support a PvP char, since as fun as it is to pirate in a Kestrel, you'll quickly find that it doesn't pay the bills adequately, at least at some point down the line.
With my main, I hardly want to be stuck flying only cruisers and frigates when I have over twelve million SP, and yet more often than not I find myself in another Thorax or Vexor, when what I really want to be flying is a Dominix, an Ishkur or an Ishtar. It simply is not economically viable for my pirate main to PvP in those ships, at least not the way I want to PvP.
I want to PvP with no strings attached. I want to find the balance between the risk still giving you the buzz, but the losses not devastating, at least not to prevent you using the tech two gear you've trained for. How to get access to this gear with a -10 sec rating is a completely different issue that is almost insurmountable without a hauling alt.
So the solution? I created a carebearing alt. I am currently spending all my savings buying up BPOs and researching them like they're going out of fashion, training industry and science skills. My goal is to have ISK on tap - not for the enjoyment of manufacturing in itself, but to support my PvP habit in what I think is the easiest way possible.
My point is this: PvPing in a kestrel ganking relative newbies in low-sec belts is great. Try doing it for a few months, by the time you can fly assault frigates, interceptors and battleships. Doesn't seem so great anymore does it? You'll want to PvP in cooler ships with flashy colours, you'll want to fight more competent adversaries because the newbies just don't cut the mustard anymore, but at the same time you'll miss the disposability of a frigate. I certainly do.
At some point you will need to adapt. It's not all fun and games, but it damn well should be. That's the point I'm trying to reach, and I wish you all the best when you reach your cross-roads and take pirating to the next level. |

When I do reach my 'cross-roads', if nothing else it should make for interesting reading for the rest of you ---------- You are a Pirate! Noob Piracy & Video Thread

I remember returning to EVE after spending a year without the internet. The first thing I did was log my PvP main, grab whatever ship was at hand and go hunting. It happened to be a kestrel, and the first thing I ganked was another kestrel pilot who was nine days old. It felt so hollow and pointless.
Now ganking a year-and-a-half old Cyclone pilot in a Vexor, that's the buzz I'm talking about.
I suspect you will hit the proverbial cross-roads in about a month to two months. PvP never stops getting better, only harder. Worse comes to worse, just support you pirate char with your main, problem solved.
I look forward to hearing more from you further down the line. |

I won't support this character with my main or any other character. I intend to see what can be done without any artificial help. That's where it'll get interesting. Or phenomenally boring, who knows . Either way I'll write about the results. ---------- You are a Pirate! Noob Piracy & Video Thread
