Originally by: DigitalCommunist I can see some logic in what you claim, but you've totally missed the fact that [insert free space theory] has been tried and has been found lacking. The spectacular fall of CFS put me off alliances for a good two years, and they were doing exactly that. You yourself haven't managed to succeed with this free space hoohah in any large capacity. If idealism is what JF has, and the imperials don't, why do they continue to capture the attention and loyalty of thousands? Where is the revolution?
While you make a valid argument concerning the viability of non-NBSI policies, you're not really addressing the topic of this thread. It doesn't matter how much more effective the NBSI policy is to implement for an alliance; that's irrelevant to the question of "why are the boards less interesting?".
I agree with Jasmine's position; if the boards are less interesting than they once were, it's because there are so few truely interesting powers in EVE. I was a privateer for more than a year largely for that reason.. you're all the same, and boring. If it's not "we mined a lot and stuck PoSs all up in your house", it's "we brought 200 BS and 20 cap ships and lagged all up in your house", over and over. There's rarely a question of why, because you all do things pretty much for the same reason: because it's all that's left for you to do when you're bored of PvE and field so many people that you have to pick a fight with another alliance for sport.
When there's actually a reason, when there's some betrayal, posting of private logs, disclosure of secret information, great reversal of policies or longstanding alliances, suddenly the thread lights up. Or when some roleplaying power comes under attack, or when Big Blue did, those get attention. Because these things are interesting.
Maybe there's less volume and vitriol with the alts gone, but whatever. Some people may miss that, but their loss is certainly not mine. There were a dozen stupid, pointless threads every day for me to skip, and the signal to noise ratio is a helluva lot better today.
