For security reasons, as of 14:00 eve time on the 23-Oct-2003 Venal will be closing it's borders to all non NVA or NAP members. All current non combatents present in venal space are advised to leave immediatly until the war situation can be resolved.
Once the current threat to Venal has been resolved, operations will return to normal and borders once again opened.
Any ships remaining in venal space after 14:00 do so at their own risk. Defensive forces will be operating a KOS policy during this attack.
If your vessel is trapped behind the lines then we advise you to make contact with NVA fleet assets either via local chat, or by joining the NVA public channel and finding an NVA-flagged member.
If you ask permission to leave in safety and cooporate with NVA fleet assets you will not be harmed.
This announcement covers Venal, M-ONENA and HQ6Z-L Regions specifically.
PB, K-Tay, and Fade are not closed at this time, but be aware that heightened NVA fleet patrols in these regions will be on full war alert and it is important to declare your intentions and keep an eye on local chat.
The NVA council thanks you all for your cooporation and understanding in this time of great anxiety and warlike preparation.

I'd have to guess a courtesy for those who use venal? Perhaps trying to keep them alive, and a way to cover our ass when we kill probably enemies inside venal? (Ahh the alts that stream into these forums when running a blockade) A creative way of trying to keep innocent people alive b/c they are afk on autopilot believing that the area is at a state of peace?
I don't see what your problem is, other than the fact you can't pass up a chance to speak bad of jade. Try remember that this is a game, and you can do things like her press releases to give information to others who need it.

Who is presenting this release is irrelevant.
Venal is closed until further notice. We are in a state of war, and as such our borders are open only to those we trust, and at this present time, that doesnt reach very far outside of the NVA membership. This is only a temporary measure.
Anyone In venal as of tonight, that shouldnt be, will be deemed a potential threat/spy, and dealt with accordingly.
This is the only way we can lockdown our beloved area frm the invading scum.
You want someone to blame for this, look no further than the Invaders trying to disrupt our building of a safe Venal.

I dont get the importance of this release.
Except maybe to say that Venal is now at war which i'm pretty sure has been covered in the other threads of backstabbing and treachery i like to call "Venality"

Derek, Venal has been open to all except for mass mining ops for weeks now, while the NVA charter is being put together. This unfortunate state of affairs that has been forced upon us for now, means we are totally closed.
This will change with resolution of this current "war". (description loosely used)

I'm impressed, they had the nerves to stand by the making of the new VA for weeks before deciding it's easier to just shoot them, I doubt many others would have had that much time to waste.
Enjoy Venal, you're certainly making it true to its meaning. Oh and incase you eventually next year or the year after that might get a charter written together while having peace in the region, could you please post up some road signs that show us where the riches that venal used to have are? There doesn't seem to be much to fight over up there(yes, those 20+ jump bistot mining ops must be a joy...) yet it seems the last 2 months of Venal's existence have seen one War with Jade after the other...

If man wants a home he builds himself one. What has the NVA built so far? 2 months of more or less constant warfare and still not even a charter to show for it, indeed as of the posting of this status of war the NVA and as such Venal have reverted back where they were 6 weeks ago. I'm pretty sure you can get a home anywhere in the galaxy but venal far easier and with far less problems than what we have seen people in Venal go through. Home, what an excuse really. If you leave the empire you do it for profit, nothing else should be of concern. The home is where one makes profit afterall, not where one gets to fight in one war after the other, with a whole bunch of people arguing over just exactly what the NVA charter should and shouldn't include. True, venal was once a nice region, lots of minerals, a nice quiet spot in the northern parts of the universe with agood population of pirates to farm and lots of good corps up there. During the last 3 months however we have seen the roids mined out(apart from those 20+ jump ordeals ofc). One corp after the other leaves the region and we have witnessed more political instability in Venal during those 3 months than during the centuries of anarchy before the appearance of the VA and NVA to the region.
Perhaps it is indeed time that the people of Venal ask themselves which was better, the coexistence of corps during the months prior to the founding of the VA, or what has happened ever since? True, some will not have that knowledge of how things used to be, say Oberon who decided to come all the way from their now defunct regional alliance on the other side of the universe(let's not go into what that should tell us about their political skills...) to Venal or even indeed Jade Constantine and the Jericho Fraction. Things in Venal used to be good, there was no coordinated alliance, but corps from TTI to Xanadu to BladeRunners and many more were still up there making ISK and apart from the lone pirate the region was indeed very safe and peaceful. But hey, who am I to complain, I left the place a while ago and while I do have some hangars up there with items I would need frankly I feel little need right now atleast to enter the space of the political circus of EVE that is called New Venal Alliance.

Dunno, depends on if they (NVA) are willing to call of their blockade.
Their forces, numbering at one time near 40 at their blockade point, were defeated in a series of running battles. Overall, probably (and i am only guessing), one of the biggest battles ever seen.
Of the 40 vesels, perhaps as many as 10 vessels escaped destruction.
Do they still have enough ships to enforce a permanent blockade of Venal? They could try, but if they provide themselves as a target in the weakened state they are in, they will invite an even bigger strike next time.
NVA take this to heart: that raiding force, at its peak, was 21 ships made up of 15 BS and 6 cruisers. Current BioMass numbers are just shy of 100 members. We could have fielded a fleet three times that size if we needed to.
Call off your closure of Venal. Let the miners stare at rocks for hours on end, and tell Jade to take some valium or something. The reason for this action, this deep penetration into "Jade Space" (EWW!!!!) was 60% due to her mouth, and 40% because of increasing incursions by NVA fleets into our space. If you can't play nicely with your toys, we will take them away from you. So shut up Jade, call off your blockade of Venal, and don't come into our space with more than three ships at a time, or better yet, don't come into our space at all.
That will buy you peace... for a while... (hey, don't take it personally, it's just a pirate thing, Arrrghhhh.. )
