I used this name as a character in several stories, and also in a game that was being developed that was similiar to Eve, but in 2002 (nowhere near close though in terms of graphics or as a standalone game)
I liked the name, so I figured it'd be good enough to use here.

I wanted a name that sounded Caldari, but I made it up completely. In the end, I think I failed at making it sound Caldari, and to be honest I hate the name now.
And once I had the surprise of getting a convo asking if I was Sicilian; turns out "Ortu" is a Sicilian last name (or so I was told -- I have no clue).

I was about 12 when my Mom was cussing at me in german, and said i was verruckt, which means crazy more or less, and since then ive used it in most games i play. ive yet to have anyone use it.

I've used this name for a while, in many computer games, forums, etc. Basically long story short, Freyja is the name of a Norse goddess, and I always found it to be a pretty name. I simply added the 'n' to make it more masculine-sounding.

Umit Davala was a Turkish footballer in the 90s/00s. He was briefly famous for having a mohawk haircut.

the name I used comes up in a few places. One being the bible as a demon who is the guardian of lost treasures. Its also a character name of a book series. Its been ages since I read it but if memory serves its called "Red Flag" or something like that.
Anyways I thought it had a good ring to it and it doesn't seem to be used by anyone else. Lets hope it stays that way.

Strikeclone is from the film "the fortress" with Christopher Lambert.
In the films the "Strikeclones" are the cyborg soldiers used to kill the escaping prisoners of a corporation run mega-prison.
I also loosley based the background of this character on the film "strikeclones".

Sosus Red is a naval term. During the cold war the United States Military set up sonar nets on the bottom off the ocean. Every time a submarine was tracked over that particular sonar net a message would be sent out. If it was a friendly, it was sosus blue, if it was unfriendly the message was called "Sosus Red". That is the way the usa tracked soviet subs.

Tsanse is my name...scrambled up and missing a bunch of letters. Kinske was supposed to be "Kinski" for Klaus Kinski the insane actor, but my first character was screwed up and...well, it's going to get even less interesting from here, so I'll shut up.
Mostly I just wanted to play the damn game and needed to think up a name real quick. I'm pretty much happy with it.

when i made this char from a free sample trial account on a big LAN-"tournament" in iceland I had so much fun making the faces and found that the game sucked... that was just after the release... the only way to make money was mining and something - the game was just stupid... I made this char look like "Heihachi Mishima" from the Tekken series since I played that alot and I haven't met anyone better than me ;)
like a stupid idiot i improved charisma and perception and something and chose stuff because i thought it was cool. i had no idea attributes affected training time...
so 8months later or something i decide to start playing eve after being convinced there was actually pvp in it so i reactivated this crappy char wich i should not have done
people often think i've been playing all this time but no i got about 25m sp now stupid -attributes :(

I've always used Darksaber for everything on the internet. I thought of it... way too long ago. That'd be like 8 years ago now. The 64x is something random I make up if darksaber is taken (which in Eve's case it was). Unfortunately Darksaber was taken by someone who apparently played the game at about launch and didn't play for long. I'd still pod him if I ever see him 
Not sure how I came up with it. I'm into Star Wars, and I think I just turned lightsaber into darksaber. A Star Wars book came out around the time I thought of the name, but has no connection to it (As much as I can remember :P)

Mine is a completly made up name. It was back in UO when i needed something unique that i made it up. I liked the sound and it stuck with me ever since. I have used it in other games as well and it has by now been copied a couple of times but not to often to worry =)

Callistus was the name of a medieval Polish Pope (I'm half Polish) and it was my confirmation name. Though I'm no longer religious I still use it because it's pretty unique and sounds cool.
Before EVE I used Gatsby (as in from the book) but it had already been taken here.

I was a LotR freak a while back, and made this name for another game I played. Used it for every game ever since. It's my real name (Adam), in Sindarin (Adan or Atan), with a prefix "Wise" (Dr·) because Adan/Atan was too close to my real name for it to be fun. I dropped the accented u from the name because not all places supported it (my 3D Gamers account comes out as 'Dr?adan'  ).

"R Dan" is a shortened version of the name I've been called (in RL) for many years.
I was called "Rugby Dan" while on holiday where there were shed loads of other Dans..(typical!  ) and it stuck.
why "rugby"? because I played shed loads of rugby, was trying to go pro at the time (and looked it too) so wasnt tough for the other folks at the resort to remember...we also had "tall dan" "ginger dan" "football dan" "fat dan"....there were alot of Dans
anyway, it stuck and when I took up computer gaming a few years after it seemed the logical choice. - Even though I've had to give rugby up now (should be Snowboarder Dan now I guess... or Snow Dan....i dunno :P we'll see....hmm how about Lazy Dan....?)

Long long ago, on a back room gaming table far far away, as a young teen I sat down to a Sci/Fi roleplaying game called "Traveller"
It was about 1981 or 1982.....
The character I did up was a Baron that was of a wolf based raced called the Vargr.
I called him Baron Von Spot.....
I enjoyed playing Baron Von Spot.
When I started playing Mankind 1.7 in the late 90s, I called myself "Von Spot".
However, every now and then, some one assumed I was German (I'm U.S., but am of German ancestry...). This made me feel a bit phony, so when I started Eve I dropped the "Von" and added "Sergeant" (which truth be told, fits better, as I am a Sergeant, and like it that way.....)

When I started EVE I was reading the 'His Dark Materials' books by Phillip Pullman, I decided to use Iorek (from Iorek Byrnison the armoured bear) and the Caprica came because I had started watching the new Battlestar Galactica at the time.

I wanted to call my char "livewire" like the AC/DC song - but i mispelled it since i hated english in school - and i hated the school, all in it, the whole town, the land and the world 
The evil thing was that if you google this song you find it written "livewire" and "lifewire" - so i guess AC/DC-websides are made by drunken people.
But in the end the name fits because i am in life insurance business

I so regret picking this name.
I thought EvE would be just some "Star wars BS game" and that i'd be done with it after a few days...so i just picked a name, got a character wit ****ty attributes.
And...well sprayed...
I used to spray cars..and my real name is Ray...and i used to love the PPSH that "spray's bullits on COD" (nothin better then rifles though, u feckin machine nubs)

I read a book when I was a kid about space empires and such. It's been so long ago I can't even remember the name or the plot . The one thing that always stuck with me though was the character names. They had prefix descriptors that indicated caste such as Par for Lord and Del for Warrior. I liked the sound of Lord Gellen so I did it using that book as inspiration. The actual name "Gellen" I just came up with off the top of my head.

I love telling this story....
My first job, as many other people in the States, was working in Fast food. When I first got the job, all my paperwork was filled out with my first name, Jonathan. All was fine and dandy, as I usually go by my first name when trying to avoid the hassel of explaning that I go by my middle name.
Well, After a few weeks, I had to get some paperwork signed by the school, as new rules had been put out about how later students were allowed to work. When I got this paperwork, my Counceler put my middle name, (which I usually go/went by at the time) Brad, on the sheet. As such, My boss found out that I usually go by Brad, and as such she changed it on the schedule to match that.
Well, Her (HOTT) daughter was also a co-worker of mine, and already had a hard time keeping track of names. She constantly would say Jon-Brad stoping herself mid way. Eventually, that was shortend to JoBe. Once I started spelling it, I added an IE at the end, to stress it more and make it look more natural. Thus, the name Jobie was born.
At the time, I was an EQ addict, Did my time in WOW, and later to EQ2. During that time, all 3 games had a character named Jobie. On top of that, As a memorial to my (then current, now former) job, I added Hardee's main stream burger, the Thickburger, as my surname for my characters.
When I went to play eve, I considered going for just Jobie, but that name was taken by a 3 and some year old character who doesn't play. But that was ok, as I probally would have recreated and added thickburger on the end anyway. Besides, It gets a laugh out of both DJ Dawney and DJ Whitey on Eve Radio every time They see it
Thus ends the story of Jobie Thickburger, The tastiest Miner flying the stars today

Well, i knew a girl once, was a good friend of mine.
Tried to make this character look as much like her as possible.
The name, well she was/is a real temptress that enjoyed the thought of making men squirm (but still not being a ****), by leading them on, toying with their emotions for a while, then enjoyed completely crushing them, simply because she could.

Simply a math geek at a loss for a name. So I used this.
As an aside, I often joke about compact parking spots being unrelated to a cars size. It just means that you have to roll up the windows so the car is closed and bounded.
