Yesterday there were about 7.5 pages of new threads on the Sell Orders forum. I haven't counted them exactly but it's over 200 threads. With the "one bump per day" restriction it is making this forum very difficult to use. If you post a new sale it drops off the front page in a matter of hours.
There are now more threads posted on that single forum in 2 days than there are in TOTAL on the four forums created for the CCG.
Why can't we get a splitting of the sell orders forum? The obvious splits would be seperate forums for GTC sales, character sales and item sales. AFAIK no CCP dev or forum moderator has answered this question. Clearly it's possible to add new forums, vis the CCG forums.
C'mon CCP, throw us a frickin bone here.

Personally I don't care how they do the split, I'm happy to let them decide that  But I can't see how anyone could claim a split of some kind wasn't becomming an absolute nessecity.

In-game auctions with Kali should reduce the volume by quite a bit. I imagine characters and GTC will still be out-game, though.

Well, the sell order forum SHOULD see some major decrese when contracts comes out SOONÖ. But here would be my ideas for sections:
Auctions (possibly split into different secions, ships, mods, etc)
Raffles/Lotteries
GTC
General Sale orders (possibly split into different secions, ships, mods, etc)

The mods arent doing anything about it because when Kali hits the ONLY things that will need to be sold out of game are GTC's.

I am not so sure about that.
If I understood Oveur's and others blogs correctly, the new system which replaces escrow, will only be limited per region.
ie: You would not be able to accept the contract outside the region.
Hence the forum will still need at least 3-4 more sections splitting

Also, Characters will still be sold out of game I'm sure.
Plus some people just prefer using the forums due to 'scam protection', which doesn't actually exist.

Trial accounts can't post in the trade forums anymore, right ? So if they get someone scamming with gtcs or chars, they should be able to ban a payed account now.
Well, yes, for other things no scam protection, but most people should know it.

OK, well *if* the new Kali contract system will address this then that's all very well, but Kali has now been delayed so many times I can't count them all.
Does anyone here really believe we'll see the contract system implemented and working before 2008? If so then you clearly haven't been playing EVE for very long since CCP are always, always, always very very very late deploying everything.
Even if we saw contracts going live at Christmas (lol, that's so not going to happen) then another 3 months of a nearly-useless Sell Orders forum will be a nightmare. They managed to create 4 forums for the CCG in very short order, why can't the same be done now for the Sell Orders forum?

yes its in kali 1 the first kali patch that the new secrow system will be put in so that should be in the next 3 months or so...

because they dont want top encourage forum useage over ingame usage, if they dont create the forums people will be so happy when the new escrow comes in that more poeple will use it. Make the forums too mainstream for this thing and it will never change. The forums were never desighed to take that much traffic from sales, and they dont want to encourage more.

No they said they have now changed it so you can view contracts from anywhere, but you can only buy them if you are in the right region.

That's good, but it won't change anything. Who would want to look at a bunch of auctions and be unable to bid on them? And what about all the people who live in 0.0 and can't spend 2 hours going to Jita every time they want to buy something?

just did a quick count and from uptime at 3 pm to now we have 270 threads,approximation for 24 hours would be 340 threads

It really really needs at the very least seperate sections for GTC and character sales. Those do not interest me (and likely most others interested in actual items) the least, yet they clog up the sell order forum like nothing else. Please give them their own place.

I'm under no illusions that it's considerably more than 5 minutes work, and I'm also well aware that setting up the CCG forums was something they probably planned a long time in advance of the CCG going live.
But the Sell Orders forum has been like this for a long time now, it's really getting to be a problem. Escrow is nigh-on useless due to the pathetically small number of escrows that show up and the drowning of it with scams. The in-game market can't be used for GTC's, characters and many in-game items. Our only other option is the Sell Orders forum and it's b0rked due to sheer volume.
Would really, really love to hear that CCP are aware of this issue. I'd even be happier to hear a dev say "No, we're not going to do anything about this, it's fine, ltp, go back to WoW" than the continued silence we're getting now

The main reson this happens i think is because there are limited tools to sell things ingame so people use the sell forums.
Hopfully this will be addressed in Kali.

It was not intended as a flame (lazy about this topic, yes). Just think about some facts:
-GTC and char sales dont really fit into the sales forum (personal and public opinion)
-its been suggested a fair number of times with everyone that replied agreeing
-Devs and mods said they hand the suggestion to the right parties.... nothing happend
-Devs and mods agreed to look into it.... nothing happened
How long does it take to create a new sub forum for it? Some minutes for the name, right position (under sell orders perhaps) and the right access for mods. Done. (I had a forum once too.)
I cant imagine that it takes days or weeks for a small group of ppl to say "yes" or "no" to a small request like this that benefits the eve society.
