Well that was thoroughly unpleasant. Could all those who had the logserver running when the node died please submit a bug report, remembering to Zip the logfile and attatch it. Details for how to submit a good BR can be found in the Game Development Forum.
We are continuing with the test and we would be grateful for your help:
Could all attackers please warp to Planet V and wait to be ganged. Could all defenders please return to the POS and wait to be ganged.
Thank you!

I was on the attacking side..
we warped in.....alittle load up lag (loads! but not as bad as I've seen)
I locked 3 things. (i was in an eagle) A fighter (dragonfly?) -because it got in the way an Astarte because it was in the way too! an Ares -because its what i was trying to lock and i wanted to mash it
after a few mins they finally showed as locked! I tried to activate mods and then i was kicked..... and I've spent the rest of the time trying to log back in
I will save you, but make sure you bring beer - Wrangler and cAKe - Imaran I thought it was bREe, omgi'mgivingawaymodroomsecwetsftl - Cortes when come back ... bring PIE. Me like PIE. -Capsicum |

Should I split the file and make more bug reports? Or could you give me another way of submitting it?

Try uploading it to the internet and linking it?
As for me, I've just realised I'm going to log back in at the POS, probably not friendly to it any more

Thanks so much to everyone who came and helped us test this. We were able to gatehr a lot of data today and it should really help us pinpoint issues and get them resolved faster.
For those of you who ran logserver:
Please zip the file and submit a bug report (you can find a link in my forum sig) with the title "POS stress test"
If your zipped logfile is larger than 2mb, please mail it to Runner: [email protected] and he will forward it on to me.
I would also like to thank all the ISD volunteers who gave their time to help me get things setup and handle transporting people around.
I appreciate how patient people were with us while we got things setup and even in dealing with the node deaths and login queue. You guys are all awesome!

I'd just like to echo what Tanis said and say thanks to all of you - you were a fantastic help. I hope you enjoyed it!
Also, much <3 to Tanis for organising the whole thing in the first place. I know it's taken up a fair amount of time to get everything sorted.
Thanks again!

Edited by: Dark Chasm on 30/09/2006 17:18:53 Edited by: Dark Chasm on 30/09/2006 17:18:30 Well, happy to oblige. Think by the time we got into H-W system , we were finally getting off some shots, allthough I must admit the attackers were outnumbering the defense about 90-60. Nevertheless, it was nice, weird tho that a POS just being there crashed the node so easy. I guess it is related to node-crashing afterall so hope it was a worthwhile test.

That's the really sad part. 100 vs 100 is indeed a very small battle when talking about POSes.
And by the responces here, it seems it was about as messed up as it is when doing it on TQ.
EVE is completely broken atm, thanks to POSes and general pro-blob mechanics.

Agreed its not great but that was the whole point of todays excersise. To help CCP find where the broken code is so they can fix it.
Eve is NOT completely broken. Far from it eve runs well at time its just certain circumstances such as fights at POS's and fleet battles that have problems.
I would encouage people to help with the testing after all this help sort out the live game. I know you dont HAVE to but rather than bleat about problems on the forum your time could be well spent helping CCP fix the problems.
Cheers

Thank you, despite the inevitable problems (which is what we were there to help demonstrate) it was fun.
In addition to emailing the logserver files I frapped the two POS assaults that crashed the node, itÆs probably not that exciting for others but I thought it could be useful: Test Server POS assault stress test (150MB wmv)
In the final fleet battle I was flying a Scorpion, thus warping in and out each time I began to take fire. Each time I warped back the lag and hard disk thrashing on loading the battle seemed to increase significantly, to a level where I warped in and froze for a minute or so and just hit the autopilot to warp out, hoping that I wasnt taking fire or already destroyed. The serverlog file for that is ~20Mb zipped, if it would be of any use I can put it up on some web space for someone to download.

Actually that would be good if you wouldn't mind.. probably easier than trying to stuff it through the e-mail system.

But donŠt link the file it in the public forum as it may be possible that the log contains sensitive data.

Well, it seems like we tested this on TQ for you. About 50 people were fighting at a (not fully onlined DS) POS in XZH when the whole node went boom.
Of course we also had the usual "see nothing for 30 seconds" warp-in lag, the 10+ seconds module activation lag and the "aligned at full speed and not scrambled but no warp" problem.
Engagements near POSes are still impossible right now.
not speaking for my alliance.
