Alts arent as much of an issue as trial account alts are.
Recently we've seen one bad thing after another resulting from the trial account system CCP employs. From the goons abusing it en-masse, to lots of people abusing it to scam, flame and smack. From macroers abusing it to launder isk to isk sellers using it to spam commercial messages via evemail.
I'd personally say that it's gone far enough, and that it's time CCP rewrite the whole trial buisiness. They've already limited trial accounts in their options, but more limitations are needed in some form, and in my opinion every trial character should be clearly marked as one.
Of course, none of them should have posting privileges anywhjere but on the new player forums.

The difference being that we can now see who is smacking who. There's no hiding behind anonymity anymore. If you want to say something inflamatory then you (or your corp/alliance) had better be prepared to face the in-game consequences.
That is what makes the no-alt rule so great. I think it would be far too much of a pain to introduce to General Discussion though. It looks hard enough to keep on top of things as it is.
agree with that the flame/troll alts are annoying and aye only mains should be allowed in corp forums(and the in game forum) absolutely, but the others no way, theirs alot of alt posters that is not flametrollers but feel the need to use an alt because of their ingame role's ! me speacking as one of thise. however the no good EVE Virus trial accounts should not be allowed any were near thise forum. |

I'm not too bothered with the current situation. I don't really care if people use alts for the purpose of posting ship setups or asking embarrassing questions. I can live with the no-alt rule applying only to Corps/Alliances Discussion.

What if we only allowed a character to post if it was training a skill?
That is the only surefire way to tell if it is an alt or a main (besides second account of course)
For some reason the fact that ~50% of the people replying to the thread fail to read and understand the point of the OP is hilarious. |

The Caldari have a lot of long-time School of Applied Knowledge people..... this character has been there for 10 months, I know others who have been there longer. And this character isn't an alt. I DO have an alternate account with a 2 person corp atm, but he isn't an alt, he exists to be what this character can't.... an RP character. And its a paid account.
An "Alt", by definition, is any character other than the one you spend most of your time on, or have spent the most time on RECENTLY. So some of those Alts may be peoples new primaries, or OLD primaries. I would just suggest having more forum mods who can filter out more of the trolling posts and ban the accounts if they repeat it.

And while you're at it, get rid of the 2 extra character slots.
And ban chinese IP's
And disable auto-warping on logoff
And get rid of instas
And nerf stabs
And change trial accounts so they can't type stuff in any channel except rookie help, to get rid of the gold sellers.
