Edited by: Stavros on 25/10/2003 21:55:21 As a final thought about that guy who basically called us exploiters.
Its just the nature of the game, when we were around it was stacking and lasers/projectiles.
Now its warp in camping and lag. Its just a way to win nothing more, there will always be some way of gaining advantage over your oponents and always people who have ability to find those methods.
We were just better at it than most, fact of the matter is, everyone goes lame m0o, cheat m0o, hacking m0o, then promptly goes and copies our tactics and setups.
You can't have it both ways sorry....
Anyway I dont want to rant on about m0o or whatever, just don't like Jade talking rubbish about us or that other guy whos name i cant be bothered to scroll up to read.
Its easy as hell to make stacks of cash in eve, if you know what you are doing. Even easier if you just plain out scam people, which I never did.
Once you have the cash u can be anything u want, trader, pirate, griefer even.

One of the major problem is that the early pirates could become rich very very quike. Rich enough that many players still havent caught up. So really there is nothing for rich players to do other than pvp, and its current state it just isnt fun.(That dosent mean i want it to go back to the way it was at the start). Thus the reason that many of the original players are leaving or have left.

Hauler drops out of warp and is engaged.
A good idea - but only in theory. Won't work in game. The hauler just has to take a look at the killmap (or the local) and take a little reroute in an endangered system, warping to some planet/moon a little away from the gate and then to the gate.
Twas nuthin but an idea. I do think there should be some Balence tools of the trade for both the hunter and hunted.
I have read that there are only 4 points in the game where pvp can take place.. warp nodes basically .. my general idea is the ability for players to create thier own... In some way.. You know a miricle of science lol

I've known Stavros for a fair bit now ingame. From when he was Stavr0s. Many of those that did know him trully wish he'd drop the act, just for a minute, and let people know what was really going on at some point.
He wasn't just one of the most bloodthirsty, merciless pirates in the game. He was also among the richest. And his near universal dislike almost guarantees that he achieved that without exploiting. As I'm fairly certain specific people from above crawled through his account regularly for an excuse to get rid of him.
Pro-piracy cons-piracy theorist, Jash?
No, Joshua. Just a tiny bit of information dug out. I suspect Mara/Passari wasn't as random as people think it was. It'd be like saying there was no point in Obe.
Anyone that's been past Obe knows it's not just about a chokepoint.
P.S.
Joshua, maybe you should ask Stavros about this line in his post

We had the first bships on the server and we did nothing but kill people all day (well that and make back handed deals and get rich easily).
Or ask Jade if she knows what the terms and conditions were for TTI's "humiliating NAP" were with m0o?

Don't tell me those fabled few rocks of infinite-unit arkonor are beyond Obe?
Mara/Passari was a good point for camping - the only way out of Caldari space to anywhere else.
It also had a very handy spawn of 20K terrorists at the Passari sun, which, pre-loot table nerf, must have dropped some very nice stuff.

Mara/Passari was actually a stroke of genius by some players. Its also rather amusing that lots of players havent figured out why it was picked above most other points.

We were promised stuff in return for NAP, we never got the stuff, they never got NAP.
Simple :P
We got most of our kit from Stain (yes the same stain that HATES piracy)

Can't help noticing that Stav shows up a lot to hijack Jade posts.
Bog off Stav and stop doing a White Dwarf!
Just face up to the fact that Jade is more famous than you, and that you no longer have a point or purpose.
And while you're at it, take your moronic condescending "formula" with you.
End Yourself (as someone who used to think their opinion mattered, used to say) now and stop dragging on and on like a Tory politician fighting for their position. ============================================== "Trust no man who says to you that 'The ends justify the means' or who says that 'We will do whatever it takes...'. These men have no honour, and are fit only to be politicians."

An excellent summation of the pirates history in Eve - well done Jade
I guess I agree with the majority of what you wrote. All the early "orgy of destruction" tied up the devs and I'm sure their continued nerf-fest patches have taken away valuable time from OTHER pursuits (like getting the higher level content into the game). If they didn't have to mess with all these killers and all the complaints we'd probably have mobile refineries already.
I guess you never asked the most important question. Why don't the hardcore PvP players just fight each other? I mean if its combat they so love I don't really see the need to suck in the non-pvp types? I mean if theres a whole class that loves combat why not stick the all in a region and "go for it". Why bother anyone else?
You forgot the worst term in gaming Jade...... GRIEFER ....... that person who so torments people they complain to the devs. The person who so violates any sense of decency ingame they are banned. The person who makes people so miserable they quit the game in disgust. The person who causes so much havoc the devs waste MONTHS trying to undo the damage with stuff like missile firing billboards and sentry guns everywhere INSTEAD of bringing us the high level content we desire.
Ask yourselves this. If people (the evil "carebears") had the choice of a non-PvP server would they do it? Probably yes. Their gameplay doesn't require the need for anyone else to die in order to have fun.

I'm conservative by nature - which some of you may find surprising (or not) given that one of my hobbies is skydiving
