My name is from two sources, one being my name from Battle.net, the other being the last name of a villain from the anime series, Zoids, Vega Obscura.

Hmmm Quakebots were all the rage a long time ago. I was good at quake 1 but didn't like talking to the ppl I played against. So lots of ppl accused me of being a bot. So I changed my name to BeerBot one drunken night. Have used it ever since |

I made mine up but it has influences from Ishara (Robert Jordan books) and the island of Ithaka (greek, home of Oidipus), although I learned the last bit quite recently and after making her.

Zezman
|

[66]
It comes from the two parts of Zez and man. Zezòman
See how that comes together?
...
In reality, it is the name of a character I used to roleplay in outdoor adventures with my unkle and sister. Long story short: We took on alter ego's and played games late at night hiding from cars that we pretended were aliens called Scarabs. My Unkle was called Guilch, and I forget the name my sister took on. I was Zezman, the rogue mage guy. Guilch was the warrior/leader, and I think my sister played a Cleric/Princess type.

Wratha the Risen, the prettiest of the whole bunch :)
Indeed when I first got on the game I tried to get the name "shaitan" but alas it was taken. Have read the whole Necroscope series....good pick for a name. Mine came from a prison and a friends suggestion. My ALT has a name from the Necroscope series. Lets see if you can find him. Happy hunting.

Edited by: Tyrion Nydaerin on 27/10/2003 06:07:23 Tyrion = a character from A Game of Thrones by George R R Martin (go read now)
Nydaerin = I made up...
In beta I was just Tyrion, but I decided to add the surname on launch. I dont know why I didnt just use my IRC nick RedFish... in hindsight that might have made more sense =]

Shintoko Akahoshi
|
Posted - 2003.10.27 06:44:00 -
[70]
I originally wanted to be a smuggler and work the black market. A shintoko is a kind of container, so it fit. I also like the sound of the name. Akahoshi means "red star", which fit into the back history I wrote for her clade.

Severus Trajan
|
Posted - 2003.10.27 06:57:00 -
[72]
Roman Emperors Severus and Trajan, obviously. The Amarr background struck me as somewhat Roman-esque with Emperors being raised to virtual gods (although somewhat prematurely by Roman standards), the nation built by slaves, etc. And so I decided to take a name in a similar vein...

For many years I played Star Wars table top role playing game. My character was Tal Sarkos. In Beta, we had a character called Neroo Tal, so I dropped the Tal part of my name to prevent confusion.
Either free the slaves or we will come and get them.

[76]
The leanhaun shee or lianhaun shee is a fairy mistress of dreadful power, for she seeks the love and dominion of mortal men--if they refuse her, she is their slave and if they consent they are hers.
Most men find that they cannot refuse her. Only one lianhaun shee exists and she is more a force than a woman.
Each fairy woman who loves becomes one with her; and for the mortal man who longs for her she is the one and only.
She does not play with emotions; all who love her, live for her and their desire for her frequently destroys them. The more suffering she inflicts the dearer she becomes to them. The more they desire her the more she eludes them.
An impatient mistress, she creates such desire in her lovers that they will overcome all obstacles to embrace her. She never yields to them in mortal lands, but insists on their meeting in Tir-na-n-Og, so that men must pass through death to enjoy her.
On teamspeak they can call me by my real name or simply Lian, althugh its fun to hear them struggle with it.

vyperpit
|
Posted - 2003.10.27 10:13:00 -
[78]
My name came from Counter Strike.
I used to call my self at the time Viper but when I looked around to many people had that name so I wanted to keep my identity but be unique. So I changed the spelling to VYPER. Where the pit bit came from was my Clan days I used to be pretty good and we got up in the ranks in a few of the leagues we played in, in the end the guys used to call me the pit of despair. Don’t remember how it came about but it did. It used to happen if our team got taken out I would normally be left alone and I would manage to kill the enemies. From there I adopted the PIT side of what they called me and so I ended up with VYPERPIT.
This was kind of and in clan joke but soon I grew to like it so If you ever see a VYPERPIT in any game it will more then likely be me.
What can I say I rule and I wuv my name.

Naglfar
|
Posted - 2003.10.27 10:42:00 -
[79]
Naglfar is taken from Norse mythology and is the name of the ship that will fare the giants to war in the apocalypse (Ragnar÷k). The ship is constructed from the hand and tonenails of people who have gone to Hel (hell). Nagl = nail, far = wessel/ship
There¦s also a blackmetal band called Naglfar but that¦s not where I got the name from.

Gan Ning
|
Posted - 2003.10.27 10:46:00 -
[81]
Gan Ning was a chinese pirate who lived from AD 175 - 218.
In his youth, Gan Ning did not have any rules and used his skills for assassination and plunder. He originally led a group of youths and terrorized small towns. In his twenties however, Gan Ning started reading the classical literature from Zhou dynasty intellectuals and as such sought to become a military general.
Evenyually he did become one of Sun Quans most feared Generals in the Wu Dynasty. If you need to know more about the whole Three Kingdoms period visit http://www.threekingdoms.com.
Also as some may have noticed he and many other generals of that era are featured in Koei's multi million franchise Dynasty Warriors.
I have modelled myself on this character and decided that I would become a pirate as soon as I bought EVE. |

Also, Discorporation is a shamanistic excercise to 'Discorporate' yourself, eg, separate body and mind and allow you to enter a sort of dream-state.
It sounds kinda cool too ;)

SW Bobegubu
|
Posted - 2003.10.27 10:55:00 -
[83]
When I was younger I used to drink a fair bit of beer. I could drink all night without getting too drunk or bloated. Because of this some of my friends gave me the nickname of bottomless beer-gut butler (Butler is my real life surname).
After getting sick of trying to think of names to use for games, I brought out my old nickname and took the first 2 letters of each word which left me with bobegubu. I use this name for all games I play so if you see this name in another game, there's a good chance that's me :)
The SW in front is for my eve corp.

Jaeger
|
Posted - 2003.10.27 11:07:00 -
[84]
Jaeger was the name use by the Hacker in Clifford Stoll's 'The Cuckoos Egg' (great read).
It also means Hunter in german, although I'm not german or a hunter, I'm a trader. :)
I thought it sounded cool until I realised a Ladies fashion shop is called that as well.

Rath Amon
|
Posted - 2003.10.27 11:13:00 -

I wanted a pseudo-egyptian name to match that aspect of the Amarr race so the last name became Amon (at one time the supreme Egyptian deity). The first name just needed to be simple and monosyllabic.

Jim Hawkins
|
Posted - 2003.10.27 11:14:00 -
[86]
Jim Hawkins is a name shamefully stolen from the book Treasure Island. As master Hawkins is the hero of that book in that he thwarts the piratical endeavours of John Silver, I thought it appropriate in my efforts to become the scourge of space pirates. As it turns out it isn't, as I'm shot up fairly regularly - A.rse!

I looked at a lot of Minmatar system and agent names, and then tried to emulate that "feel" with my name.
I'm surprised so many people borrow names from other sources.
