Simple. Supply and demand. As long as people will buy them at that price, sellers have no reason to sell them cheaper.

I wouldnt be suprised if T2 manufacturers were jacking up prices and trying to make as much of a profit, in fear of "invention" in Revelations.

I dunno what market your looking at lol, but Machariel is 650-750, built. Vindicator is on for 815mil, Hammerhead T2 is the only one that I see as 2mil.

I think you may have missed something along the line... unless those macro miners are selling the stuff they mine to NPCs, theres no inflation going on with macroers... Money needs to be created in order to cause inflation.

Machariels have doubled in price the day after the capital ship in deadspace nerf, I guess the reasoning being if they cant farm 2 a day they will just double the price :)
And t2 425mm railguns have almost doubled in price since it is known that the Caldari tier 3 battleship will be a railgun boat.
Both examples btw of simple jackups due to changes to the game, demand is of course practically the same.

/me wonders if he should sell his large quantity of machs that were snapped up at under 500mil, or wait and see if they hit 1bil
...and yes t2 425mm are a silly price, glad none of my chars can use them.
Was gonna write a bunch of other stuff here but Sirial's last line pretty much sums it up.

simple. for the t2 stuff anyway. You currently have a fixed supply and constantly rising demand due to both a larger player base and a larger percentage of that player base able to use them. I also believe that the larger playerbase with the same number of systems available, leading to a more densly populated universe and that allowing for a higher percentage of potential targets per low sec 0.0 system are at laest having some effect, although much less so than the previously mentioned reasons. I could be incorrect on the last point, but it does seem to make sense.

Anyone else feel that having a limited amount of TII BPOs was a stupid idea? CCP basically just decided that some players were going to be Uber rich (*cough* HACs *cough*) while the rest of us have work ever harder to buy stuff since prices keep rising. "Inventions" might be a step on the right path, but since the TII BPCs created through that process are inefficient (see dev blog), it won't help at all if it ends up costing you more to make the items yourself than actually simply buying them.

I had to search 6 regions earlier today (without alts) in order to find some [modules] for around 12 million ISK a piece. Part of me was annoyed but another part was tempted to buy up the 30 or so I eventually found for 12 Million, travel to Rens, and put them on the market again for 17 (average price it seems).
If I wasn't flying around in a Wolf I probably would have.
I'm very tempted to finally train that Transport skill now though...

Just refuse to buy at those prices and they'll go down.
In regards to machariel in particular, the inflation is artificial. The people selling them claim it's because you can't use carriers in plexes anymore, but most people never did that in the first place. Instead, they sat the carrier at a POS and assigned fighters - something that you can still do. Hence, the inflated machariel prices is simply an attempt at price gouging. Don't buy, and the prices will soon go back down. -Wrayeth

Nope - The inflated macrial price is that for about a year - you could farm the 8/10 overseer every 45 minutes. CCP fixed that recently, and the exploiters are now selling off their loot slowly at high prices, as they know it is not easy finding another exploit like that.
The high price of hamerhead's is due to their stats, and that people have gallente drone rather high for ogre II's anyway.
The high price of 425's are due to the new caldari Rokh coming into play so price gaugers are at work. --- Slot 10 Akemons Modified 'Noble'Zet 5000 implant +8% Armour FREE |

What, a limited number of people having access to the means of producing things? What's that you say, a tiny ruling elite, rich beyond the dreams of the vast masses?
Gosh, sounds just like capitalism to me. Isn't that what you people wanted, a free market?

It seems to me that its not just manufactured stuff which have risen in price over the last couple of months. I've found that a lot of named items are have also gone up.

The diffrence is, that on true capitalistic market, the elite changes, there are always new opportunities to become the new tycoon etc.

People keep saying that but it's actually not true, in both directions.
There are almost zero opportunities for the vast, vast majority under capitalism. The huge majority of wealth is inherited - i.e. unearned by the people who inherit it. The elite hardly ever changes in any significant way without massive upheaval - wars, coups, revolutions etc. Things that the masses don't do very well in.
And in EVE, there *are* opportunities to get hold of BPOs. Check the Sell Orders forum. T2 BPOs get sold every day. Sure, they get sold at rates that mean they're not profitable over anything less than 1-2 years timescales, but the opportunities are still there.

Money IS being created by farmers farming 23/7. And they are not spending that money. People are buying isk through ebay or other websites and as such prices get jacked up.

Steadily increasing playerbase, both in numbers and meeting prereqs to fly HAC, fit T2 and otherwise demand shiny toys.
Finite, fixed number of BPOs.
Rare stuff usually stabilises eventually, but can take a while, and will often fluctuate in response to a 'change in conditions'.
I hold high hopes that prices on T2 will twitch down towards 'high' rather than 'ludicrous' and 'insane' as it is at the moment.

Macro mining does NOT create isk, buying isk through ebay also does not create isk. If they are farming missions (bounty's) or selling the mins to a NPC however they do create isk. (you get inflation if isk is created, but not if isk is transferred from one person to another)
Ontopic, a lot of people need hammerheads because of the damage type and thus prices will rise. Same with the Machariel, since the complexes are fixed a lot less BPC's drop so supply is rising while the demand is the same -> they will get more expensive.

Not really. You point out that if they can't farm as many a day, they'd put up the price. Sure, demand is the same, but supply has just halved, so the market would naturally increase price.
The price rise on 425mm railguns is probably a case of the self-fulfilling prophecy. People expect the price to go up when the tier 3 battleships are released, so they buy them up "cheap" now. That generates extra demand, and so the price goes up before the anticipated cause of the rise actually occurs.

If it costs more to invent the items than they are selling for on the market, then prices on them won't be high enough to be an issue anyway. That's the beauty of the system, it prevents the prices of T2 kit going insane, while still making the iBPO's a valuable asset. ------- There is no magic Wand of Fixing, and it is not powered by forum whines. |

Whoops, my mistake. For some reason I always had the macro NPCers/farmers in mind. Those create ISK like no 'normal' player would. Macro mining indeed only inflates the mineral market. Which is not a bad thing per se as production cost comes down. Tho it's not the production cost that makes our precious t2 items so expensive.
Sorry about the misunderstanding.
