A little odd thing I noticed with the new update:
mass of the Earth 5,973,600,000,000,000,000,000,000 kg OR 5.973 septillion kg
Mass of system STARGATE 100,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 kg
100 decillion kilograms?! Volume of 10,000,000 m3...
A density of 1,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 kg/m3.
This is...absurd to say the least. That's practically a black hole. Hell, it has more mass than almost any star I can think of. Can these values be changed to something a bit more realistic?

Mysterious stargate technology is mysterious. Perhaps there is a black hole in there to power it. Or perhaps the high tech magical physics things happening inside cause you to get a distorted mass reading. Either way - who cares? It's impossible to travel at these speeds, and you're bitching about the mass. |

The mass is that big because of eve physics and bumping. Way back in the day you could actually move star gates by bumping them. People would do this mostly to break insta warp ins (back be warp in at 0 was a thing the best you got was 15km, so you would make a BM 15km past the gate to drop on it a 0) by making the gate not line up with them.
CCPs solution to this was to give the gates **** you mass. There is no magical back story how something with black hole mass is not ripping the system apart. |

Which is probably good considering how many times I still bump into the damn things when I come out of warp.

Following from this one can deduce that in some dimension somewhere, there are other intelligent spacefaring lifeforms which look at their stargates and wonder how they can be so very light.

You are misinterpreting the equation. Light does not have mass, it has relativistic mass. That is, the equation states an equivalence between energy and mass, and that the two are interchangeable. This does not mean however that there is an equivalence between mass and light.
The important aspect is that from QED the photons which make up light, have no rest mass, and they experience no gravitational field, or induce one on any other object.
Light is however indirectly affected by gravity due to space time being curved by gravity. |
