Originally by: Benco97 People say that it is not fair that they should have to leave their NPC corps, I say it's not fair that you can't be wardecced whilst everyone else can be irrespective of if they want to or not. It is not a level playing field. you say we are not allowed to stop you playing how you want? what makes you allowed to stop people playing how THEY want? (which is to wardec you) It needs sorting, some sort of timer in which they can stay in the npc corp before they are automatically shunted to ANOTHER NPC corp which can be war'd (I reccomend having LOTS of these secondary NPC corps and limiting their max size)
Out of all these posts I think this one is my favorite. I especially love the part about limiting the size of these proposed secondary npc corps.
After all wouldnÆt want to have a lot of individual thinkers in a position to help each other if they so choose now would you? Na, that would spoil your ganking fun, and we all know that is what itÆs all about. ItÆs not even about PVP, itÆs about easy kills for you, if it were about you needing PVP you know where to find it, and itÆs not where you need a war dec.
To the Gentleman arguing economics,
I understand your point of view, and it does have merit in theory. However, I believe that you are greatly blowing the economic PVP scenario out of proportion. Your primary illustration and challenge is to compare prices from a year ago, yet you do nothing to take growth of the player base into consideration and how that growth affects supply and demand.
As to the lengthy, yet well thought out argument regarding player retention. There is an elephant in the living room that you failed to acknowledge. Your complaint is that of older players remaining in NPC corps and conducting economic PVP. If they are older players that are staying long enough to make an individual difference in the economy then obviously retaining these older players is not an issue, as they obviously want to keep on playing, but on their own terms. To sum it up: If they are an ôOlderö player in an NPC corp, itÆs safe to call them retained.
Now that IÆve said all that lets take another stab at encouraging players to join player corps.
As CEO of a small corp I understand many of the challenges, for starters we need better corp management tools. Until we have those taking on a massive influx of new corp members remains an almost intolerable risk. (We can hash out those changes here, or look at any number of threads that address these issues). Lessen the risk of loss from a thief / spy and CEOs & Directors can afford to take chances on people and potentially take on greater numbers while allowing more freedom to their members.
Eliminate the bottlenecks and chokehold points while drastically increasing the resources in both low sec and 0.0
Right now itÆs too difficult for a small corp to get into 0.0 and carve out a small piece of space for themselves. Too much space is controlled by the alliances, not because of their sheer size, but because of the chokepoints. The really profitable areas are controlled by massive alliances the rest of it is wasted space that is hardly used at all. I believe that many players would leave the NPC corps if the reward was there, that of making a few friends and diving into 0.0 together and making their own home out there, to make a profit and defend against all comers, (until forced back into safe space to hopefully regroup and try again).
As it stands right now the only way to do this is by joining a huge corp/alliance or creating your own equally huge corp/alliance.
For many people dealing with that many personalities that are suppose to be your friends is just way to much work (especially for those that can only be a part time player), when you start adding responsibility to the corp/alliance of hundreds on top of that itÆs less like fun and more like a job for many of us.
To me players in NPC corps are a minor issue that would largely resolve itself if some of the larger problems were fixed.
