I've been running some figures trying to work out how much these BPO's will cost when they are released and i was hoping for some comments / discussion. I planning on buying one as soon as they come out and have mineral stocks to build a few asap, i plan on building for a few days maybe a week before starting ME research, cashing in on the "OMG new shipzorz must buy" nature of a lot of players 4tw)
I've been working under the assumption that the BPO will cost 10x the base price of the ship (as is generally the case for Tech 1 ships)
Initally i thought that they'd be priced inbetween the Tier 2 BS and Dread / Freighter price, aka about 1.5bill isk making the base cost 150mill. Then i looked closer at the price progression form Tier 1 cruisers through to Tier 3.
Using the Amarr Cruiser and existing BS prices i have since come to the following conclusion.
Ship Base Costs Tier 1 Cruiser (Augoror) - 2,907,500isk Tier 2 Cruiser (Average of Omen and Arbitrator) - 4,032,500isk Tier 3 Cruiser (Maller) - 8,375,000isk
As can be seen the cost ratios are
Tier 1 > Tier 2 - 1>1.39 Tier 1 > Tier 3 - 1>2.88 Tier 2 > Tier 3 - 1>2.08
Tier 1 Battleship (Armageddon) - 66,250,000isk Tier 2 Battleship (Apocalypse) - 112,500,000isk
Cost Ratio Tier 1 > Tier 2 - 1>1.7
As you can see the cost ratio of Tier 1 > Tier 2 Battleship is greater than that of the cruiser by a factor of approximately 1.5
Running a 1.5 times modifier on the ratio to predict the Base price of the Abaddon, from the Apocalypse i came out with a figure of close to 280mill which i feel is just too expensive for a ship that is not intended to be far better than the Apocalypse and a massive amount of isk for the BPO.
So i then used the ratio for the Tier 1 > Tier 3 cruise and applied to the Armageddon cost to get a much nicer figure of just under 200mill
Armageddon Base Price x Tier1>Tier3 (cruiser) Ratio = Abaddon Base Price 66,250,000 x 2.88 = 190,831,900isk
Allowing for some fiddling from CCP i therefore think the New Battleship BPO's will be priced around the 2 Billion isk marke putting them on a par with the Dreadnought / Frieghter BPO prices, much more than i first thought.
Therefore i'm aiming to have 2bill isk in the bank and approximately 600mill's worth of minerals to build 3 units to sell asap.
Please pick holes in my logic and share your own thoughts

And guess how many others will do exactly the same you want to do. :-) It will definetly be interesting to see what happens to the prices in the first few days. -- |

Depends which Joe you buy the BPC's off? What isn't smart about buying a BPO, making isk of the rush caused by it's release, researching it then selling BPC's / BPO for a profit?

I'm guessing loads of peole are planning on doing so, however i'm banking on their being massive demand first. If they don't sell well on the open market i can always shift loads to my alliance.

I highly doubt we'd see a Trillion isk move toward Tier III BPOs on the first day, in fact I'm pretty sure we won't even see that many BPOs purchased in total (per ship).

Your making a big assumption that these will be available on the Market. Given they are Tech III they will be BPO lottery items.

They are tech 1 ships. They are just tier 3, so they will be available on the market. It's kinda like how rifter (which I believe is a tier 3 frigate) bpos are on the market.

-> BPO's will be available on market -> BPC's will take a time to filter through -> BPO prices will be upto 10% higher due to inital rush, as the way NPC's price items that are not bought. -> Anyone wanting to start the Tier3 BS Business needs at least 2 - 2.5 bil to get started in order to buy the BPO, and have enough cashflow to have constant production. - Or they can just research the BPO then produce BPC's when ready. Edited by: RoCkEt X on 24/10/2006 08:33:48 it would not surprise me at all if the mad rush to get tier 3 battleships made the price rocket to maybe 300mil, it is reasonable to expect as the supply catches up with demand that prices will fall. i am waiting for the test server to come back up now. before i think about buying one on tranquility, i will need to fully test them on singularity. by reading the dev blog we can see that only some aspects of the tier 3's are desirable. such as thier tanking capability. the part that worries me is the theory that tier 2's no longer rule the spacelanes, thier price will fall, which is not good if you own either a tier 2 battleship or the tier 2 bpo. As i am lazy, i wont buy bpc's or bpo's i'll just buy off the market a few weeks after patch deployment when all the idiots who brought one straight away are scratching thier heads and wondering how they got ripped off.

And it's for exactly this reason that I doubt we'll see tier 3 battleships or tier 2 battlecruisers on sisi until after they go live on TQ except in the hands of devs and bughunters. Sisi isn't meant for you to test ship setups or playing with new toys risk free, it's for testing the patch. ---

I believe at first they are going to be expensive, as their BPOs haven't been researched by anybody. |

Your idiot guide is wrong. that 10% (could we really say 20%?) spread that most items have doesnt extend to every item, nor is it a fixed spread for every item barge bpo's have no spread, price will never go up or go down.
The new bpo's "MAY" have the same spread. also if the 10% spread is there it will drop really fast (not same day, but it will drop really fast)
