Have you logged back on? Your ship is probably destroyed. You don't emergency warp for 15 minutes if you've been aggressed or have agressed.

Assuming I am reading something here that the other posters aren't, you said you logged off AFTER you escaped, correct? If you escaped, ran for distance, made your destination and docked THEN you logged out because you had to leave it's perfectly acceptable. On the other hand if someone logs out TO escape being destroyed then that would be considered bad manners and poor gamesmanship.
However, since you said you escaped it's fine. It's not like you had to call off your appointment, be late for work, tell your date you were running late, etc. just so you could wait for 15 minutes after being attacked and docking. Whoever was attacking you probably had already moved on to their next target. There's no set rules of engagement that state "You must stay logged in and twiddle your thumbs once you've docked after being attacked for at least 15 minutes before having a life."
As it was said above, just don't log off as a means to avoid the combat.

Logging when being attacked is considered bad form. If you warped away and at a planet, then decide to log, its not bad form imo.

Perfectly ok in my book if you managed to escape the attack and then logged afterwards. As already noted be aware of the 15 minute timer however, so it might not be a good idea.

IMO, if you arent scrambled, you have the in-game ability to evade combat indefinately and logging changes nothing.
The only problems with logging occur when its used as an escape from a situation where there is no other escape (I.E. you're scrambled/about to be scrambled and you cant get out). When logging changes the outcome of a battle, it is a problem.

Uh, wrong. You warp away as soon as the server realizes you're gone (=right away if you quit). Believe me (didn't matter in the end though, because unfortunately for some people, we have scan probes ).

To the OP, you did what is done in the Matrix movies. Run to the phone booth, pick up the phone and make it back to real life before you get killed.

ECM burst has long been an effective in close defensive module against gate campers just a shame more dont use it but u need to be warping before the sentries get u to.

nice maneuver. I've fitted ECM burst on a few of my travelling ships just in case of these scenarios. I have worried though about sentry guns.
In anycase, seems if you are traveling at top speed in direction of warp, one pulse of the ecm burst might just break you free from a warp scram. All theory of course, I have not had to actually do this.

the ecm burst took 2 runs, (31 sec of waiting...) and dont work like jammers. They make you lose your target if you roll right, but they can lock again instantly. btw, my hauler is still alive :)

you logged after escaping, not bad form. the enemy failed to prevent escape and therefore lost the kill from the start.

If you log with agro they have 15mins to probe you out. Personally if you get away and stay away for long enough for the agro timer to run down then I'd say you have escaped and have no shame in logging out. If you logged right after you got away there is a good chance you have been probed out and killed.
If RL calls urgently then take the risk of the log-out timer seeing you lose your ship. You'd have to be very unlucky to have a RL emergency in the middle of a fight though.
Logging to escape a fight is lame, it's like 'winning' eve by never playing it. Sadly I see it all the time. Of course sometimes you just CTD but if that happens I log right back in and face the music. So far the nearest I have got to a CTD in combat was a very embarrasing evening when my vid card was playing up. Every time I dropped a dictor sphere my system would reboot. I got a new card the next day.

Play however you want. Logging out of the game is not playing the game though. Meta-gaming has always been lame and nobody likes cheats.
I can see it now. Tee up a game of chess with some Russian grand master, set the board, make the opening moves and play. Then, just as he goes to make the checkmate move you grab all your pieces and run out of the room.
When did this become acceptable? Am I just getting old? I'm a gamer, I play games. Win, lose or draw I play. It is a game for crying out loud, you will not actually die if you lose the fight! Lose a few fights you start to learn some skills, then you start winning. If you run from every challenge you will never learn anything and never feel the joy of a true victory or the sweet sorrow of a glorious defeat.
Enough with the alt scouts, enough with the EBay ISK, enough of the logging in and out of combat and enough of all the borderline "yet to be classified" exploits. Just play the damn game or don't play it at all.
Here's an idea, if you don't ever log in you can never lose a ship. If you never lose a ship then you don't have any expenses so you don't need to worry about making ISK. In fact save $14 a month, spend it on some beers and sit on your porch gloating over how you have a perfect loss:kill ratio and nobody in Eve can touch you.
F12 and Ctrl+Q are not for combat.

This statement is an example of why the rest of us are always going to enjoy playing a lot more than you ever will.
Honour and mutual respect are EARNED. Hitting the I-win button every time YOU screw up(with the abundance of ways to avoid being ganked its YOUR fault when you do)is not going to earn you anything but contempt. Take your losses with head held high and be gracious in victory. This is what makes the truly great pilots stand head and shoulders above the rabble and cheap griefers. Eve has grown and reputation might not mean as much as it once did, however you will always be lowest of the low, even if the only one who knows it is you.

In gaming terms anything that requires you to be out of the game then suddenly enter it to get the drop on an enemy is not a tactic. In terms of the game tactics can only exist within the game, everything else is just meta-bull****.
So 1PG have jumped on the log-in trap bandwagon too now?

Who cares about logging. Who cares people are gonna say its lame. Its part of the game and you cant do anything about
My advise, Just move on to your next target.
