Quote: Well, let's see. My alt flies the Iteron Mark V. She can carry 11607 m^3 of cargo, and while carrying that much, can do over 600 m/s. Take off one expander and replace with a good nanofiber, and I've got 10092 cargo space and can do over 900 m/s. In full speed mode, with overdrives instead of expanders, this ship can easily break 2,000 m/s.
With it's potential of over 13,000 cargo space, and it's amazing speed capability, yeah, it's a good ship.
Kiss that goodbye when the patch comes. _______________________________________________

Well thanks CCP
Looks like the reward for my 30+days of training will be an ittyV that uses ABs that are nerfed to buggery.....

... and now I keep hearing rumors that the Mammoth will also have 5 low slots after the patch. If it's true, the mk5's advantage is completely gone...

nah, the mammoth has 4 low slots now, instead of three. but still...there's less and less reason to train iteron five now. with this speed nerf flying a cargo loaded indi is going to be bloody agony

I read on the patch thread that indys will get an 50% cargo boost and a 5% increase in cargo and speed per skill level....
Finally the Iteron V is worth it..:)
6000 base plus 5 x 5% for the skill...
With four 25% and one 27% expander I'm gonna be able to take....let me see...something like....LOTS!
Almost 24000 i think...

WELL NOW THEY ROCK!!!!!!!!!
Yea the Iteron V is now VERY much worth the time to train to use. It have a base cargo hold of 7500 m3 when you count the 25% bonus from the Gal Indie skill at lvl 5

It's a shame those courier scams arn't still around where you have to take 20,000 cargo 1 jump for 50m. Oh what a field day that would have been

I have flown the mammoth for months and just got my iteron V skill today. After castor, the big difference is an extra 5000 cargo from the extra spander (Mammoth has 4 low slots to Iteron's V) and a that all important extra bit of powergrid that gives you enough for a 10MN mwd. I was worried that the It.V would be a waste of a months training compared to the new mammoth, but no, that mwd alone makes it worthwhile.

With my expanders, which could be better:
ohh and giants in the bay, i go for 26500.
Thats at poor 170 odd traveling speed though.
Depends on what your doing i spose, single system mining, thats nearly a whole can crunched in one, coupled with a 2k bookmark either end, it makes you more god like than before.
For speed, well today iv'e been messing around, and iv'e got 3 10 ab's on and a couple of cap chargers mid, and a whole bunch on assorted nano's on the slots low.
That takes me to an everlasting 560 running speed, at base cargo.
Good for ammo, trade and shopping trips.
Lit 5's are still the king in most areas imho, as they should be.
We galente ain't much better at anything else:) ------------------------

Iteron V is no longer worthwile to train. If you want to use that last low slot for an expander, you'll be moving about 155 m/s with 2 ab's fitted. Otherwise you can get 3 ab's fitted with 4 expanders and a reactor control unit.
I'll be done with engi 5 tonight and see if you can fit 3 ab's with that.
Otherwise you can fill all your low slots and put a 10 mn mwd on your ship. Base cargo and about 7-900 m/s. Course, with engineering 4, that uses up 160/164 mw.
Without ab's on your iteron V, and full expanders you can pull about 91 m/s or so. Loads of good that extra low slot does ya if you have ore to haul in from way out there. ------------------- Basic truths? Idiots make us rich. - Some people are only alive because it is illegal to kill them. |

Well Ive just got mine and I love it :-)
Ive got Engineering V so Ive gone for 4 RCU, a 25% expander, 3 giant cans and an MWD
Got just over 12000 cargo with a MWD - lurvly!
Of course for serious mining and hauling, just whack in expanders and ABS - 24000 cargo and about 250 m/s I think

Ech, for speed purposes you can always use 5*nanofiber + 2*10MN AB and some Cap Rechargers. With 7500 cargo (which is great and usually enough) you have normal speed about 220-240 and with 2*AB you get about +100% - I usually fly above 500 m/s. Which is enough in most cases. Especially now when you start 15 km from the gate. _________________
