That is the question!! I know I've read plenty on peoples opinions concerning the Mark V, but I need to ask again......................................is it really worth all that extra training??
Thanx in advance.

If you're crazy about hauling, yes. Otherwise, no.

If you have to compensate for something the mV is your best choice as well.

Well, let's see. My alt flies the Iteron Mark V. She can carry 11607 m^3 of cargo, and while carrying that much, can do over 600 m/s. Take off one expander and replace with a good nanofiber, and I've got 10092 cargo space and can do over 900 m/s. In full speed mode, with overdrives instead of expanders, this ship can easily break 2,000 m/s.
With it's potential of over 13,000 cargo space, and it's amazing speed capability, yeah, it's a good ship. ---

I tend to agree. If your a serious hauler you should train it. If your in a corp that does Bistot and Crokite hauls... then its about time you started your training. Also it opens a whole world up to you in the Missions section. When I have all my other skills to adaquate levels... the MK5 is my pet peeve skill I will take the time to work on.

The MK V is only for the serious hauler.
If your corp does a lot of mining and need a serious hauler or you trade a lot of freight or courier stuff, then the MK V is worth it.
I hauled 1077 Bistot the other day, and Bistot aint small potatoes.
The only problem is that you'll wanna cancel your training for it after about a week, its really hard to stay motivated when all your other skills are lagging behind.
If you aren't gonna touch PvP and prefer to make money in eve, then get it.

Edited by: Syme on 31/10/2003 02:12:24 Gan Ning, I can't believe that you have gone with your own sig after there were so many good entries to your comp (they put mine to real shame ).
I pilot an Iteron 5 and it is the most marvellous, lovely, gorgeous and wonderful ship out there, but I am only saying that because I sacrificed getting a bs for it.
As above, if you are a hardcore haulier then it is a must; otherwise you must have better things to do with your training time (it took me 27 days with lvl5 in all learning skills and implants).

I pilot the Iteron V class indy "Size DOES matter" with a cargohold of 12455 wich allows me to empty a full jettisoned can in little more than 2 runs. I do this in 600m/s. I can easily keep up with 3 battleships and 2 cruisers mining at full speed. Changing the cargoexpanders to injectors i can haul about 2000 cargo in speeds over 3000m/s. (blockaderunning anyone?)
YES the iteron Mk5 is a good ship, but as with any other ship its your skills and the modules you fit that makes all the difference. The stuff i got fitted to mine approaces the price of a battleship.
Now you decide for yourself.

it is the biggest and best hauler for a reason. i haul 13104 m3 cargo at 450m/s and its great for emptying out 0.0 depots full of crokite and such. the train time is ok for it. but my only complaint is that i wish ccp gave the iterons a more usefull special per lvl. teh 5% less cap for warp per lvl is great and all but teh ships were already good at warping. so now i guess i can jump a 500 au jump without stopping. fun and all but there are no jumps that big.....

CCP is gonna change jumping 'soon'(TM), so that you no longer jump into the middle of a system, but to the other side of the gate. This is gonna mean that warps to gates are prolly gonna be twice as far... the cap bonus to warping could become quite useful

I found a limit of 888UA on my MarkV. Had to travel +-1600UA back to a station, due to a bug in EvE. So, yes, it helps sometimes to have a big range
But I agree, the bonus with the MK V is not usefull at all since they changed the jump range of the indys. Devs should correct this.

Iteron 5 in 12 days.

Once you drive a Mark 5 all other Industrial ships seem like cheap plastic toys. If you train skill in another race's Industrial, you are just wasting your time. If you ever intend to haul and survive in 0.0 you better pick this ship up. I do agree though that the bonus you get for the ship is a little on the weak side . --Missa New Siggy to Come Soon(tm) |

With the new MWD and AB changes on Chaos the Iteron Mk V might be the only ship to fly for speedy hauling, since it will have the best powergrid. Plus of course the coolness factor of flying a ship that takes 1.5 months to get the skill for :-).

Well, look in your systems again.. because it seems that more often than not, stargates are pretty much close by, and not across the solar system.

I'll stick with my Bestower's 9300 cub. meters... Bestower costs less to insure and replace and it took a very short time to get the skill to drive one even though I do have L4 Iteron skill and could make that L5 anytime I want to waste 40+ days doing nothing else. - lol

Ever since I recieved my first Iteron 5 and could ride it I must say. I would have it no other way. I love the iteron 5. with 27.XX expanders you can have more cargo then any ship in the game spare a titan. And the shields armor and structure are all higher then most shields are only lower then the badger. More med slots more power and overall kick ass. And if all of thats not enough less people have it and it looks awsome.

I have a cargo now of 13450 on the indy 5, and can do some serious hauling, it is the best indy ever (5 local hulls) if you need to shift a lot of stuff in one go this ship is what to do it in, if you dont do any hauling then dont bother you coulod train the 22-30 days on several other skills... I have not regretted it, course my corp mates are glad i trained it as well....

Thanks to improved skills and mods my alt's Iteron V now has the following loadout:
2x Y-S8 Hydrocarbom I Afterburners 3x Cold-Gas Arcjet Thrusters 1x Local Hull Conversion Expanded Cargo I 2x Beta Hull Mod Expanded Cargo 2x Partial Hull Converstion Expanded Cargo (also still has enough powergrid for a mining laser)
Navigation lv 5 Acceleration Control lv 5 Spaceship Command lv 5 Evasive Maneuvering lv 5 (in 5 days)
Ship holds 12,302 cargo and can sustain a speed of 720 m/s with all five afterburners running.
This ship can keep up with my Apoc's mining ability, even if it's hauling my ore over 5 systems away.
The Iteron V rules.

Yes, if you have the time and patience. GET IT!
My corp's CEO did and he can keep up with two heavy mining ships (battleships ) no problem!

Man with that setup I would have to spend like 40mil on FREAKING cargo expanders alone. Other than that the afterburner setup seems to be a must. "Death is not the worst than can happen to men." -Plato |
