Under the section "Ships", first line it lists that "Additionally, a team may use four additional points in a single match of its choosing during the whole tournament."
Imho, this is put into place to allow certain corps to take down the "Big Guys" that they will fight, making for more interesting fights and allowing the big uber mates to loose.
Imho, now is the time to make alliances that dont have any name, to use to your advantage ^.-

I too don`t get what Wraith is trying to say since ¿big alliances¿ can use the 4 extra points anytime in the tourney too.

I don't think it provides that much of a boost, to be honest. Strategy and teamplay will win over this.

no. ecm is the biggest factor.

the point is that you can only have +4 points once in the tournament, yet it's possible (and likely if you're a big gun) to have -4 every match

What i think he was trying to say is,most of the alliances will use thier 4 points in the fight against us. So while we will have 1 match with the extra 4, most matches are liekly to be -4 for us.
The fact that jamming is allowed, is gonna be ecm fest. And u thought us webbing was lame. Wait till teams are just omgwtfjamming each other

I think what the OP is trying to say is something like this.
BoB is in Group A and there are 4 other Alliances in that group. Taking out BoB early would be a good idea, as well as winning your match against the already 2 tourney winners. So those 4 alliances would probably use their one off extra 4 points in the opening rounds to gain an advantage against the big alliance.
Big alliances like BoB, MC, ASCN, etc, might possible save their once off extra 4 points for the elimination rounds leading up to the final, or the final it's self, but thats a chance they will have to take, cause they could very likely be 24pts vs 28pts for the whole of the knock out rounds.
It could prove to be very interesting and I think we might see some big names fall out earlier, but probably not too many, due to the experience of the bigger alliances.
Should be fun :D

TBH, I'd save the four points for the final... when you might really need them... against BoB or MC. 
That is... assuming the EW idiocy doesn't **** me off and cause me to just self-destruct my whole team because some guy in a Rifter keeps jamming me.

I can't see why these changes would affect BOB more then anyone else.
That being said the tournament will be a shame to watch. We'll only se EW boats.
EW is broken - at least the tournaments will show this wich is good i guess.

BEcause people will see bob as the main threat (they have won last 2).. and therefore use their 4 points agaisnt bob. Bob will have their 4 points but only once so like 90% of their matches they will fight at a disadvantage.

ECCM is a card that you can play, but then how can you be 100% sure your opponent is bringing ECM, he could be bringin tracking disruptors or dampners.

I think it's an interesting change to the format this time around.
The inclusion of ECM could make the fights horrifically boring and nothing more than a locking speed contest but there's no point complaining about either that or the way the points for ship selection system will work.
I'm intrigued as to how this will play out and looking forward to the fact that it's likely to be a considerable challenge for us this year.

Yep, EW's gonna be a serious wildcard here, I can see how tracking disruptors etc. might make things a bit spicy, but there's absolutely zero skill required to fast lock and target jam an opponent tbh.
I sense a Raven fest may transpire just for the FOF factor.

Why BoB specifically? There are others of us who will have the same problem.
As far as ECM goes, those of you complaining about it, consider this - if people are jammed, they can't remote rep their buddies (EDIT: Nor can they nos them for a reverse energy transfer). So uber-tanks capable of withstanding fire from five ships at once shouldn't occur (particularly since they're nerfing crystal implants). Yes, OK, people might spend some time jammed, but I bet we don't get many stalemates - nobody's going to be able to tank effectively for the whole duration.

Of course there will be, MC will certainly be one of those teams who will also suffer from the +4 points system along with one or two other teams.
Playing the +4 card will almost certainly be in the minds of anyone who knows they'll get drawn against BoB, whether they choose to play it or not, because we've won the tournament twice. That's only natural.

If you fail to see how this rule will affect the higher ranked teams, i will not only feel sorry for the forums but also for you. But then again if you are comfortable in the role of acting stupid on the forums so be it, perhaps then i don't have to pitty you.
As i have posted in the thread disscusing this event.
So in the next worldcup we can see FIFA declaring that all teams might choise an additional player(not dual keepers doh) in one game during the tournament.
Sounds fine by me, after all im sick of seeing Brazil, Germany, France, Italy and does nations beeing so much better then the rest.
Why should they always win, just because they are better.
With these new rules even "Island" might make it to the finals, because of thier talent at beeing not very highly ranked.
I think all teams should enter with the same conditions, this new ruls is noting else then a hidden handicap system.
Cleverly concealed in what might give a false sense of fairness, but it really isn't.
