How about advanced advanced advanced skills in Kali 2 ? Or advanced advanced advanced advanced skills soon after Kali 3 ?
Now if I could only find that word that kind of means "advanced advanced" I could go back to playing Elite 3 soon. __ Always question everything. Including yourself. |

I still have a week to get my advanced learnings all up to level 3 (screw charisma, or it'd be more like 12 days). Getting them to 5 would require me to play for another year and a half or so to get my investment back. And now you want to charge people more isk to lock them into the game for even longer before they can safely say that their learning paid off? No thanks. ---------------------------- Remember, killing a Goon isn't murder. They don't have souls. |

woot i want elite training skills, and dual training, and somewhere in a blog something about training boosts(pills)...all 11 of my skills r maxxed out,
so yea i want more, or at least increase the spawn rate of +4, and +5 implants so the costs comes down a bit
And by the way i encourage all players to maxx them out, the benifits have an immediate impact, not this 1,2 yr garbage....
after all 2 of the Advanced training skills lvl 5s take less time then Battleship 5, or anything over a rank 5 skill ----------------------------------------------- In the End , there can be only 1

I love how everyone here who said they don't want it because they don't want to waste more time with learning skills. As I recall, you're not required to train any skill in the game. You could, in fact, leave yourself not training a skill and still pay $15 for an active account. ----- Griffin -- 100,000 ISK ECM - Multispectral Jammer Is -- 20,000 ISK Standar Missile Launcher Is -- 10,000 ISK War target sobbing over losing a fight in his T2 fitted Battleship -- priceless |

Advanced, advanced, learning skills?
Sure, if thy do it like thisą
Prerequisite: None Cost: 50 ISK Rank: 0.001 (Trains x 1,000 as fast as a rank 1 skill.) Effect: +1 to attribute per level.
ą and IĘm being serious. It would effectively just add +5 to all attributes for everyone. Otherwise, no thanks. New players could still get their +9 (+8%) in a few days and worry about the advanced learning skills later if they want. Old players would get faster training times and wouldnĘt have wasted the time and money they put into the current advanced learning skills.
A lot of new skills have been added to Eve over the years and most of those skills are very high ranked skills and have big prerequisites. ThereĘs a real need to speed up learning for both new and old players. But it shouldnĘt be done in a way that new players canĘt access.
It already takes something like two and a half months to get your learning skills trained up. ThatĘs a big enough time sink for new players. And a 200,000,000 ISK cost? Why, thatĘs obscenely expensive for everyone except the top players. I know some people might have a billion (combined cost) to throw around, but most sure donĘt. And who can afford the two or three weeks per attribute required to get the advanced skill to level V?

Edited by: Skid Pants on 14/10/2006 00:18:31 Learning skills are the biggest time-sink in the game.
And also, more importantly, they are the most off putting aspect to any potential new/future eve players.
People say you don't have to train the learning skills so obsessively to begin with but it's a sad fact that many do or feel left behind.
Learning skills should never have been introduced in the first place imho.
Faster skill training should have been dealt with entirely with in-game accuireable artifacts like the implants and such.

Edited by: Firebyrd on 14/10/2006 03:24:27 2 months my butt, it takes about 1-1.5 weeks to get all 6 basic learning skills to lvl 4, then then i get my corp mates +1,or +2 implants, they now have the equal of Advanced lvl 1 , they train other basic skills while they r online, and lvl 5 learning, while off line, and then mem, and intel as those r basic 3, by the time 2 months r up i have them in med barges, and tier 1 BSs, and lvl 4 indy skills, plus other basic skills, and lvl 3 advanced mem skill....its not hard to do, and it doesnt hog tie u to learning skills....
its called balance, and its also called working with newb on creating a primary profession, and working towards that goal, even with advance skill, it still takes 30 days to train Lvl 5 BS, which i believe is a prerequisite for the Cap ships...
and with more higher ranked skills coming, which i believe this isgonna be needed, and needing more then 100 skills depending on the path u go down, Learning, advanced learning, and anything else that can speed up the process is benificial in the end... if i can cut a rank 1 (lvl 5)skill from 15 days with no learning skills, to 4.5 days with them, and +1 implants..... which will i work on first? ...lvl 5s of the advanced sure takes about 15 days each, but again train them offline, work smaller skills online...
its called planning, and thats what u want new people to do, plan their goals and work them toward that, better then having someone with 10 mill SPs, and no direction

Edited by: Mak''shar Karrde on 14/10/2006 03:40:44 Learning skills are one of the largest barriers against fun for new players. They make it harder to sell the game to new people, they're like an albatros hanging over their head until they get the advanced skills to level 4.
They are not healthy for the game, no more should be added. If anything, the ones we already have should be removed and stats for new players raised accordingly. I raised mine a long time ago but I still resent them.

Well elite learning skills would mean the pay off for advanced was about 3 months but then the pay off for maxed elite learning skills should be 10 years
Nice though it would be to add another 5 points to all my attributtes im gonna go with no on this one

I have a better suggestion: Remove ALL the learning skills from the game, refund the points to players that have already invested in them (so they can put those towards other skills) and give everyone attributes of 30 across the board.
There, I've quickly and simply made it easier for new players to become capable of interacting with older players on a somewhat even field most of the time while letting older players branch their skills out and get access to very high level skillbooks more quickly. -------------------------------------------------------- Working towards my own personal Dreadnought, one ISK at a time. |

You think 1-2 weeks is a long time? Try training for a Dreadnought. BS 5 ADV Spaceship 5 Adv weapon upgrades 5 warp drive op 5. Thats like 23 days for ADV spaceship 5 and 23 days for adv weapon up 5 BS 5 is a month. warp drive op isnt bad. Science 5 isnt bad. Thats with decent perception and willpower with +3 implants and all the adv learnings to 4.
MY alt with poor perception and willpower (both adv learnings to 5) +3 implants. Itll take me 45 days to get BS 5 alone! Give me something to shorten that PLZ! _________________________________________

The only possible learning skill I could see having any point in being released would be the 'advanced' version of 'learning'. It'd give the 2% stat bonus like the basic skill, and have the rank 3 of the other adv learning skills.
Even then, it's just another skill people will feel they need. Adding a 3rd tier of stat boosting skills would just be stabbed people in the back, and twisting the knife a few times.

Daft idea:
Why not make it so that over time of using a skill (say for mining - time based, gunner/missile - number of shots etc) you slowly gain extra SP's in that skill which work towards the next skill level - that way you've got a closer mirror of how RL works... you learn a skill, as you use the skill your competence increases. If after a period of time you fail to use your skill (say a couple of months) it slowly fades.

After adv adv learning skills you want adv adv adv learning skills for 500m a skill.. and that wouldnt change anything either except you jsut screw the entire concept of EVE skill traning.. geez..
The training time is just fine now, deal with it..
