Curses kill vagas with ease assuming the vaga pilot can't run on his active MWD cycle. 30km+ nos range so they can't MWD + your own MWD or AB + enough TD to make them not hit you = dead vaga

Edited by: Ripline on 14/10/2006 05:23:43 I'd say either gallente or amarr recons. Assuming they can keep the vaga pinned down. And that's a big if there, got usually just two points (domi scram) on my Arazu and basically the vagabonds in my neck of woods aren't worth the bother to even try without a dictor bubble and webs.
But if you're looking for ships same size or smaller than vagabond which can take them head on 1vs1 then cheapest option would be the Lachesis. A well fitted Curse would have entirely reasonable chances of doing it as well.

ive killed one once solo (well practically) - bout the only way you can kill one solo, get it away from a station or gate ie belt first and then let it come close (7.5k) then spring your trap. In my case it was a tempest fitted with a web, -5 warp scrambling, 3*heavy neuts as the main vaga killing setup bit.
But yeah overall vagas are one of those ships that require 10* as many pilots to counter it successfully most of the time. usually it ends up in a frustrating gate camp as if it jumps into a bubble it just mwd's back to gate and inertia carries it into jump range even if you get it webbed, has the advanatge of speed and the typical 2-4 stabs on + weapons that can track and kill tacklers.
A huginn and lachesis yeah, probably could easily kill it but any vaga pilot shiould be able to avoid fighting them if they are on the ball.

LOL he was autopiloting to a gate without mwd then? Cause there is no way you can 'outrun' a vaga in a sigil m8... Ö Sig By Liu Mang |

This thread seems to have a lot of people who have never fought a decent vaga pilot posting First off, a good vaga pilot simply will NOT get into web range. He just won't. 4km/s is easy to achieve (enough LG snakes cost less than the ship+fitting) and he can just fly around anyone bigger than a ceptor trying to hit him with a 10km web (ceptors chasing a vaga insta-die), and if (by a small mistake or fluke) actually does get webbed, the momentum will carry it far outside web range again.
Add that to the inability to actually scramble most of the things with less than 4 points, I'd say there aren't many options, and pretty much none solo.
Personally, any method I tried would include a rapier.

2x nos mwd, 3x 20km disruptor, web web drones
vaga have very litle cap, drain him, when he have no cap he cant mwd out, and long disruptor and web drones will hold him long enough to catch him with ur mwd
then he die like a fly
its been tested and im talking about tempest here

Why not use neutralizers?
1. they take more grid
2. if anything more comes you have no cap to continue fight, nos you stager at 6 sec and forget, neut you have to put on manual and remember about them,
3. last but not least nos has shorter cycle.
ps. for other more cap dependant hacs (zealot/deimos) neuts are better but still one neut one nos for me.

Well, your setup looked very much like a specific Vagabond killer setup anyway with the 3 disruptors etc. So you might as well go all the way. One click on the 2 neuts will render the Vaga without cap right away, since he has 25% less cap due to the MWD use and also will use some cap to get in range. Dead Vaga.
But yeah, 2 nos are probably better on a generic setup.

sit at 100+ range with a megathron and nuke it with all the rail gun rounds u can in the shortest time... you get lucky hits even with transversal and it should go.. or just put 7 t2 tracking mods in lows electrons in highs and eat him

he did (note the apoc only turned up when the vaga was in hull), in fact its very common for vagas to come in close. I had another one who sadly managed to get outside 7.5k and warped off.
Yes they could sit at 11k+ and use barrage, but thats where the heavy neuts and my own mwd come in. As I said though this is a setup specfically designed to counter vagas, especially the annoying solo ones with multiple stabs.
Typical scenario would be reporting of one somewhere nearby, I would then swap the setup and undock in my tempest and go sit in a belt witing for them in the past during my time in ascn.

I would not get out of the way of a Vagabond in my pilgrim. Good resist and tanking. 2 tracking disruptors. Neuts and NOS that will drain his cap in 1 cycle. With the element of surprise on my side, I wonder who would win this one...
The opinions expressed herein are not necessarily those of my corps, not necessarily mine, and probably not necessary.

11k? Only because someone was foolish enough to suicide into your webber doesn't mean it is a way to kill vagas. A Vaga has 22k range with barrage with HAC at level 4. A safe orbit is 17k not 11 - you never know if there is a domi webber. ;)
Heavy Neuts + MWD can work. Only if you gedd him off guard tho.

Pilgrim won't get a vaga unless it has a Smokescreen cloak. The vaga will be out of web/nos range by the time you can lock him. (Assuming the pilot is smart, I've killed vagas in my Pilgrim) The Curse will be better with its nos range.

Too many players in this game just like to press F1-F8, spam the orbit and approach keys, and watch the other guys red fill up faster than her or his own.
