Most vagas fit at least 2 stabs, and a mix of gyros/nanos. Most will be going at minimum 3km/sec, usually closer to 4.5. Intys die extremely fast trying to web them. They are fast enough to stay out of web range of any ship larger than a ceptor. Exactly how do you go about KILLING one? Sure, you can jam it and make it run, but that not killing it. You need something that can actually tank it long enough to kill it with 2 med slots wasted on scrams, and dual webs, so thats minus 4 med slots, and a 5th for a mwd to actually get close. Then you hope he screws up from what I see, as its faster than any ship with 5 med slots.
So how do you kill one of these solo? Or is it near impossible to kill a decently skilled vaga pilot?

Hmm... me in a inty and a wingmate in a mega took one down.
BS used as bait. After he is engaged and orbiting at 14 km ( he had ACs) warp/jump the inty in (must be close) and web it. The mega MWDs to him and the vaga`s broke in seconds. I got the pod too :p

I guess you just have to fit special for it.
Take any ship that can do the job with four less med slots available.
A dominix with double web and double 7.5 disruptor should do it, easy. ------------------------------------------- "Never underestimate the power of language."

I concurr that is the bane of vaga pilots. That combo is becoming so popular these days that I feel way less safe flying vaga (I fly stabless, rely pure on my speed to get out, so just a Huggin + one more cruiser type ship to scram me, makes me run away)
I ran into three of such combos in the last 24 hrs, though, and didn't die once. It depends what momentum you have when the web hits you.

For the vaga to actually hit anything for any substancial damage it needs to slow down. AC guns have bad tracking to begin w. Actually killing one means that the vaga pilot simply got careless. Its not that the vaga is powerfull tbh, it simply has the ability to engage almost anything and if it gets too hot simply warp out. Tanking it isnt the problem either. They do have decent damage but their not a dmg powerhouse. Most vaga pilots use stabs and unfortunately to get them ull need multiple scram pts on it or itl simply warp. Webbers r a must ofc. TBH my best bet is a nanophoon w torps:
x4 hvy nos x4 siege x1 mwd x1 tp x1 web x1 2 pt scram x1 LAR x6 nanos
U can do w/o the LAR i like it for patch up situations when im not near stations.
Use med drones or lights, hvy drones wont work unless u have him in web range in which case hell drop like a fly. Torps hit well with a TP and if u manage to web him hes done for. Again if he has multiple stabs (which most do) its highly unlike ull get him unless he messes up badly.
I like the nano phoon set up cuz if he tries to leave web range u have a decent chance to get him. HOwever its still highly unlikely u can catch a vaga flown by a good pilot, however if u play ur cards right ull force him to leave (although thats not what u want).

if you have a gang, killing a vaga shouldnt' be all that hard if you have tacklers. but you cant expect him to engage 6 ppl, he's not suicidal. So yes, a nice little trap is just teh medicine.
the problem arises when ppl say 'how do you kill one solo?'. Well, the answer is easy... : very carefully :P
anything that can lock him down. if he's running just one or no stabs, a huginn has a good chance at taking him down w/ a 3/3 t2 art/ t2 hvy msls
OR..... you could just train up/ save up, get your arse in a vaga of your own and beat him at his own game !

So basicly nanophoon is only solo ship that can do anything to it? dual web bthron will never get webs on it unless the pilot sucks, so thats rather nothing tbh.

Anything I say here will just make me look ignorant, or arrogant. So I'll just leave it alone and add a simple "think outside the box". This fight isn't won by ship stats, its won with pilot and tactical skill. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

Ishtar might be able to do it if it got a couple webs on fast enough. Although webs tend to make heavy drones not hit so great. Bottom line is vagabond should almost never die if flown by a very smart player who knows his limitations and when to cut and run.

In fact, IIRC drunkenone's video (I die a lot) where randay shoots him down a couple of time, he manages to kill drunkenone's first vaga with a geddon fitted with NOS and blasters... Considering that a geddon has no bonus for such weapons, we could say that basically, any BS using nos and blasters could take on down.
sadly, we also have ton consider this video and remember that at this stage, drunkenone was an unexperienced vaga pilot (with T1 med guns) ...
An experienced vaga pilot might not fall for this trap.
Now back to the subject, somebody mentionned vagas flying 3km, more often 4.5 which is far from true!! with maxed nav skills, a 10MN MWD II and 3% implants, you'll go around 3.3km/s, those who go past 4km are likely o have faction fittings, snakes or gang assist modules helping them.
As for catching a vaga, yeah, those are hard to kill, but as it's been said, traps, baits and webber drones help a lot. If successfully engaged in direct combat, a vagabond is rather weak for a HAC, but you can't deal with it with huge firepower and tanking, you have to pin him down first, and that's the hard part.
Faction webbers are also a nasty surprise ___________________________________________

You've got obvious bits correct, but there is more to it then that. The vagabond pilot's greatest advantage is speed, which lets them dictate range, and choose what they want to fight. Of course, there are a lot of ships which can break its tank, and a lot of ships which can tank its damage output. These ships will however never kill an "experienced" vagabond pilot because he will simply choose not to engage one. For this reason an Armageddon is irresistable to a vagabond pilot and guaranteed to draw an engagement from your standard "haha vagabond ownz" vagabond pilot. After that the rest is simple. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

There was a guy in alliance that used to kill them like sansha in his cyclone, dunno what the setup tho.
But yeah, this topic has come up several times. You need like a dual webber and at least 4 points scram, but you need speed or luck to get in web range, (if you have speed 1 web will prolly do), and they hit inties so easily.

Yeah, there's this too, the "trap" part of it. Makes sense since I remember losing a frig fight vs a blaster-fitted punisher, the logic behind is similar.
I watched the video once again (happily, it was still sitting in my personal collection) to get a few facts, but it clearly appears that drunkenone was on test run with his vaga and lacked experience flying the ship, setup doesn't look that great, he orbits too close considering a vaga's bonus, the average vaga pilot is a bit more careful those days, and barrage ammo surely helps here! Then there's the problem of stabs. With 3 mids, and a web/speed mod to keep in range, you might have trouble holding it down. Oh, and landing 3km away from the damn thing probably helped a lot.
Bah, I guess nothing's perfect, and the main fact behind this particular vaga beating is that it often requires a dedicated fitting to take one down. ___________________________________________

ECM. Afaik what he'd do is jump thru a gate, wait for the vaga to jump or engage. If the vaga didnt get careless and come in web range, you just mwd back to the gate and jump thru again.
If he gets careless and in range, you double web, double scram and pound the ****e out of him while using the ecm to try and stop as much damage as possible
The main thing to killing the vaga though, is the bait (as has been mentioned) - if the pilot doesnt want to engage, he wont. BC's make great bait cos they can be an easy kill for a vaga with the wrong setup, but they can also be incredibly effective at locking one down.

My Sleipnir is faster than most standard T2 fitted Vagabonds, so I'd use that.
Oh, you don't wanna know how fast my Vagabond goes :x
Seriously? A web and disruptor is really all it takes. The Vaga is a wet paper bag when it can't z00m away. If you're worried about it leaving web range try (omg) web drones. They're evil nasty.
