Let's face it. Age has nothing to do with the fact of flamers. Personality does, as does RL stress. It seems sometimes people who have had a rough day use the forums to rant in an effort to feel better. Don't just blame the younger people.
Either free the slaves or we will come and get them.

Yep, and you know why?
Because on a forum, there's no accountability. You're ANONYMOUS - even if you have this fancy virtual persona waltzing around a message board, it's not YOU. You have no accountability for your actions.
When it comes down to the moral restraints which stop people just, well, killing each other in the streets, people generally go through a number of phases:
1. I don't know why I shouldn't do bad things (ignorance).
2. I don't do bad things because I'm afraid of being punished (fear of retaliation).
3. I don't do bad things because it hurts other people (empathy).
4. I don't do bad things because they are wrong (integrity).
Most people don't get past stage 2. People usually won't go and steal from each other in real life because they're afraid of the consequences. People usually don't go and spit in each other's faces and insult the other's mother, simply because they're afraid of what might happen.
On a forum board, indeed in any virtual arena, those checks and balances are gone. There's nothing to lead back to you, physically, so there's no fear of REAL retribution.
Once those restraints are gone, the very worst in human nature comes out. And we're seeing it every day.
