CCP broke the Law of Math
I just stuffed 15,000 m3 of items into a 11,800 m3 space using containers.
Is it me or did the eve devs have poor math skills?
And how come this was never fixed?

It's not a bug. It's an intentional feature of secure cans, and there are limitations. For example, you'll find you generally can't put people (prisoners, marines, exotic dancers) in them.

Well, CCP isn't the first who did it. I know of ppl to could save a 50MB BMP into a single 124k file! And there are even better ppl, who succeeded into saving all sort of files into less space than they really should need, no matter the type of data. Isn't that unnatural and a distortion of our most fundamental laws of nature?

It seems that cargo containers in eve usse early versions of the same technology that was used to build the tardis.

Why not? You think that it's impossible for this kind of things to happen? If you do then i guess you are not familiar with many theories that have emerged the last 20 or so years (string theory etc)

String Theory? TARDIS? There is a far easier explination
Cargo container have "more space" in them then they take up because of a very simply idea.
Packaging.
Let's assume that each bottle of QUAFE is in a square box to keep it protected from the abuse it would get from rattleing around in your cargo hold. If you put it in a nice neat cargo container (like a shipping pallet in RL) you don't need all that packaging around it to protect it... so it seems to take up less space.

It's intentional. It's due to Planck bubbles that can distort space or some such. Backstory aside it is a game mechanic that makes it useful to actually use cargo containers to haul cargo in as it's more efficient on space. As stated some items (the living, radioactive material etc) cannot be put in cargo containers so if you are hauling for trade plan ahead.
I think you'll find the devs have pretty good math skills. They also have access to computers.

I would add that you also cannot put secure containers inside secure containers. That would have been a fun bug... "Look ma, my Badger's got more cargo space than that freighter!"

Anyone who thinks the OP is on to something has *never* attempted to move large ammounts of equipment in real life before.
It is *much* easier to stuff a small container absolutly full of junk, than it is to stuff a large container to absolutly full.
So when you pack small containers to the brim, and then stack them inside a large container, you move more stuff in the same space.

try putting a cargo container inside another cargo container "unpackaged". The error message that pops up should explain it to you reasonably.

My RL job is in a warehouse. I oversee all the equipment that goes in an out at my company and I always wondered why the hell I would open up a big box only to find two smaller boxes inside with the desired items in them. I always figured it was to "split" a big box into an easier way to handle and organize on shelves. That's the major advantage that I see in it.
Maybe that's what it has to do with it? Kinda like when you put groceries in the car: cans under bread under eggs... or something like that, you get the point...
It'd be easier if I could stick anything I wanted anywhere cause everything was packed into a box eh'?

Apparently CCP has decided that if you can stuff 15k m3 into a 11.8k m3 container then you must be able to stuff 30k eve accounts into a 10k server.

What you should be complaining about are jet cans, get in a frigate and jettison something, the can is usually bigger than the ship. Are they compressed before you jet them?

Planck Bubble Generator (from some ancient release notes):
"Advancements in Planck Bubble Generation Technologies have allowed for the creation of containers that have higher capacity than volume. All containers can now contain 20% more than the space they occupy. Planck Bubble Generation has the added restriction of not being able to place a Planck Bubble generator within another Planck Bubble, as that would cause an indeterminate graviton harmonics chain reaction, with an expected breakdown of causality."
Hey it's Science Fiction, can't argue with that. . Rimhawk Winds of Vengeance (W8V) |

LAW?
Let's see.... Newton did it... and Copernicus... Galileo, of course... Einstein... Oh my GOD, it's a CONSPIRACY! Those evil masterminds were in cahoots to trick us out of our concept reality! For SHAME! I KNEW that round earth theory was bunk!

It's called physics, genius. The device is called a Planck Bubble Generator. Planck as in Max Planck, the founder of quantum theory. Our current level of understanding does not allow for compression of physical space, but any such device would likely be honoured with his name. Simply attempting to put a can inside another, and looking the name mentioned in the resultant error message up, would lead you to this conclusion. Assume nothing, and your life will become a lot easier.
But while you're at arresting people for things that scare you out of your creationist bureacrat-lined comfort-bubble of rules and Ockham's-Razor-simplicity, maybe you should whine about projected magnetic plasma containment, warp drives, jump gates, or antimatter in quantities and costs as presented in the game. Indeed antimatter's effect on hull impact, for that matter. Tractoring, inertial propulsion, warp and dampening, conduit-free power tranmission in the terawatt range, energy shields, and the absence of clathrates of metal (or other elements) in the real world. Perhaps a witchhunt for the creator of the cloaking field, the almighty and evil DrCCP, could appease you.
Instead, might I suggest you stop using a computer? Normally I'd suggest you go play Microsoft Hearts, but resetting your computer would probably constitute euthanasia, not to mention the reincarnatory implications, both of which would more than likely violate the bureaucratic sanctity of your bubble.
In short : lighten up dude, it's a game. Suspension of disbelief is an unlisted minimum requirement. If that's not your cup of tea, go do people's tax returns.
