I scan them real quick at least. It's amazing how many people give their game away in their bios. Then there's the people who realize that and try to use the bio for "counterintelligence" ...occasionally in a painfully obvious way.
I've also read many funny, cool bios. Though most of the RP ones seem to be either godawful long or full of ridiculous cliches, or both.
* * * In the beginning the Universe was created. This has made a lot of people very angry and been widely regarded as a bad move.

well along that line i have a list of the ships i've been blown up in so far in the game and the information that i am a nasty grudgeholding type. figured this information might help a person figure out whether blowing one of my ships up was worth the candle.

I read bios fairly frequently, either in 0.0 where you're checking info a lot anyway, or if I'm hauling and don't have anything else to do.
In my own bio I basically have a recruiting pitch for our corp... I found this corp by reading the CEO's bio, and figured it might help us grow.

Agreed.
I once stumbled on a bio when I just started that told me basically everything I needed to know regarding agents, I'm sure most of you have also sometime playing EVE as well
I usually just skim them when I come across them however.

But I imagine some poor newbie getting a new mission, and randomly clicking through local trying to find a bio that contains resist info. :P
Umm, I did that couldn't remember resists/damage types for a mission I was doing, so just started looking through everyone's bio until I found what I wanted. Hey it worked lol.

I enjoy reading other people's bios. When I see someone in chat who has entertained me or helped me I usually take a look in their profile. Not only to kinda see what they're like and read their bio if they have one, but also so their portrait shows up everytime they say something.
The general bios I've seen are pretty much the same as everyone has stated.
1) The RP bio (I've only seen a couple of those...) 2) The e-peen damage bio 3) The "I'm a badass pirate I'll blow the crap out of you FEAR ME!" bio 3a) As a subset to that you have the "I'm dark and don't care about your feelings I do what I want" bio 4) the helpful game advice bio. I actually enjoy these things. One girls character actually helped me on tanking my shields better. And by tanking my shields better I mean actually learning that I COULD do it.

If only you could switch off the portrait loading when you "info" someone. Would make life just a tad more lagfree.

I like reading bios, but most of them are pretty stupid. Stuff that makes me laugh is about the only thing I ever pull away or a good RP story, which I rarely find.
My bio reflects my religious zealotism that comes with almost every Amarr male, but I'll be doin a update soon. I love RP bios if they're done right, but it takes a good writer.
But I did through in the Orb Eve thingy. It gives me something else to do

I read em sure.
Gives an insight into how ppl are.
If they include a wrecking hit on a NPC, you already know he's a carebear moron.
If they include a long boring bio about their dead parents who got killed by stormtroopers and their decision to avenge their deaths by hunting down all the members of the offending empire, they're former Everquest players.
If they include their country's flag, you know they're between the ages of 18 and 35, good looking, highly intelligent, witty, compassionate, resourceful, with a great sense of humor and excellent genes, like yours truly.

I only read a few bios here and there if im bored, found a few great ones over the years but most are rubbish e-peen contests with wreckers.
As for my own, its short and sweet.

The best bio I've ever seen:
Your dual eve account perfectly strikes marraige wrecking for $2000 a month in alimony.
Can't remember who had that one.
