Scoring & Race Rewards Individual racers and/or the first member of a team to finish the race will earn points and payout based on what position they finished (note: only only the best ranking racer in a corporate team is scored, yet any racer is eligible to earn the prize money and standings for the individual scoreboard). The point total earnings for placement are: 1st - 20 2nd - 15 3rd - 10 4th - 5 5th - 3 6th - 2 7th - 1 8th+ - 0
There will be a 1 mil entry fee for the racers at the beginning of each event collected prior to the event. The total fees are divided the following way: 80% single race event (45% 1st place // 25% 2nd place // 10% 3rd place) 10% Corporate season pot 10% Individual season pot
Sponsorship & Advertisement Third parties are welcome to participate by sponsoring other racers in the events by supplying them with equipment(prior to the race) or by paying their entry fees.
Corporations interested in advertising themselves may sponsor the league with an advertisement of their choice by contributing isk or equipment as prizes for the winners of the racers. Donations can be made to either the individual or corporation season pot and must be specified via eve-mail. The advertisement can include text and a link relating to your corporation or product, and will be displayed with each post by the ISGC organizer.
Please contact myself(Gyra Rho) via FTL mail to inquire further about advertising on the Frigate league.

The Interstellar Gaming Consortium is proud to announce the second season of its premiere racing competition, the Frigate League.
How the League Works
The Frigate League consists of a series of twenty races spread out over various regions within our star cluster. Standings are recorded for registered pilots on their own behalf in individual rankings, and if apart of a capsule* corporation will automatically be entered to score in corp rankings as well. Unless banned, any corporation or pilot may participate in the races at any time during the season, though it is reccommended to start as early as possible. At the end of the League, the top scoring pilot and corporation will win trophies and prizes.
(*Starter corps are not allowed to register, but individual pilots can race)
The regional races are further divided into circuits based on regional sovereignty. The regions and circuits for this season are as follows:
Federation Circuit (5 races) Essence Everyshore Placid Sinq Laison Verge Vendor Republic Circuit (3 races) Heimatar Metropolis Molden Heath Empire Circuit (9 races) Aridia Derelik Domain Genesis Kador Khanid Kor-Azor Tash Murkon The Bleak Lands State Circuit (3 races) Lonetrek The Citadel The Forge
The region location of each race is usually announced one week in advance on public channels, and registered pilots will be notified two days in advance via FTL-mail.
The Race On race day, The starting location will be divulged one hour before the event begins on the pre-designated racing channel, "Racing League". Arrive promptly, as the race may start without you if you're too late. As always, participants be required to traverse low security regions, asteroid belts, and any other celestial objects dictated by the event organizer.
Participants are not allowed to shoot their competitors until the race begins, nor are they allowed to call in support from their allies during the race under penalty of expulsion. This includes camping the starting location to kill war targets.
The racers will start each event docked at a station of the coordinators choosing. The signal to undock and begin the race will begin with the coordinator announcing the first waypoint and the password for all of the waypoint canisters. Participants will proceed to the location where a small secure audit log secure can will be located. Within each can is a bookmark location with the description of the next waypoint on the label. Each participant will take one bookmark and leave the rest. Any tampering with the cans or the bookmarks will result in the expulsion of said participant/corporation from the league
Any number of pilots from a corporation may participate in each event and restricted to t1 frigates for league play. Any module is legal. If a racer loses their ship during an event, they may purchase a ship of the same class they registered with to complete the race. Faction ships are prohibited from league play.
Participants are allowed to utilize whatever means necessary or take any path they are comfortable with in reaching the next waypoint. Weapons fire and destroying other participants is legal. Podding is not, and will result in expulsion. Individuals destroyed during the race are required to mail the coordinator the CONCORD killmail after the event, for information purposes. |

Well, since I'm loath to leave SAK, I'm entering as an individual.
Minmatar Frigate I, here I come- none of the other races have T1 frigs that are (a) reasonably fast, and (b) equipped with lots of low and mid slots. I'll miss hearing about Owi's Firetail, but I'm glad that faction frigs are now banned from league play- this should even out the field somewhat (I seriously doubt many people will bother to fit faction modules, given the considerable risks in the competition).

hmm is it legal and if not how to you enforce it to have people sitting in a sector not to kill other racers but to report on the conditions in the sector (say is it filled with pirates?).
Also since it is known mostly where pirates hang out do you avoid or try to include sectors with high levels of known pirate activity?
Is there a list somewhere of the kills that took place during the event last season? Do you ever have to enter deep space complexes (where you can not use micro warp drives) Thanks!

Maldon,
Quote: hmm is it legal and if not how to you enforce it to have people sitting in a sector not to kill other racers but to report on the conditions in the sector (say is it filled with pirates?).
Reporting conditions in a sector is alright. Actively interfering in the race is not, and that includes tampering with the cans, killing belt rats at the waypoints, or having neutral parties bumping other pilots. If I'm getting alot of reports from fellow racers about the presence of co-employees in the same system or even at the location of the waypoint, a more serious investigation will be made.
Quote: Also since it is known mostly where pirates hang out do you avoid or try to include sectors with high levels of known pirate activity?
What kind of fun would it be if I avoided pirate infested systems?
To answer your question as clearly as I can, there is a possibility that pirate infested systems could be included in either path or destination during a race.
Quote: Is there a list somewhere of the kills that took place during the event last season?
Kills are marked on a per race basis. You can look through the previous season's thread here to see what kind of carnage happened, but no, there's no all encompassing list.
I can't guarantee anyone's safety during these races, and in all sincerity there have been pilots who have lost their lives in the process.
Quote: Do you ever have to enter deep space complexes (where you can not use micro warp drives) Thanks!
Unfortunately, cans cannot be anchored within complexes, though some waypoints have been placed at the entry to the complex or at COSMOS areas.
I hope that answers your questions.

I would like to hear from any solo competitor who'd like to gang up with me for the race; that way, we both get (at least) an 8% speed bonus from the Skirmish Warfare skill, which I understand neither of us would otherwise get. I should have level 4 by then. I don't want to join forces with anyone who's part of a corp team of more than one racer, as such people have been known to do some rather nasty things in previous races
To avoid ending up in different systems and killing the bonus, I'd like to find someone aiming to reach 3.1 to 3.3km/s max speed before gang bonuses. A larger gang would help prevent this, but it would also reduce the collective advantage over people not in the gang. ---------- Racer in the ISGC Frigate League |

A small update:
I've added a new season pot for alliance rankings/standings. This pot will not accumulate without additional contributions from the public, and like corp standings will automatically add to the scoreboard for the highest finishing racer.
Also, I've altered the scoring rules so that those beyond sixth place will recieve at least one point to encourage racers to complete the races.
Reminder mails will be going out Thursday. I look forward to seeing everyone at the starting position this Saturday!

I adjusted the scale slightly to accommodate the new point system, but I'm not changing the default point for finishing. If a racer wants to stay competitive they'll want to get third at least, and 1 point per race isn't even reasonably competitive in the grand scheme of things. Regardless, I want people to get something for finishing.

Other than an aggressive rat giving me a scare at the end of the rally I saw no conflits. Time to go work on those can approaches.

I had a strong sense of being rather outclassed during this race- Kendar put me completely to shame by stopping off to kill not one but two serpentis cruisers, and still overtaking me by a few places towards the end.
Several important lessons I have learned:
Opening cans with 50 bookmarks each in them takes some time due to lag.The contents of the cans load faster in list view.Being the first to grab a bookmark from a can when 20+ people are trying to do the same is largely a matter of luck. The Vigil is up to 25% faster than the Rifter due to a 5% per level speed bonus not mentioned in its description.Container approach technique: wait until ~30km out and change speed to ~100m/s.Tanking is overrated, and violence overhyped, in a racing environment.WCS are highly unlikely to prove useful. Although I enjoy using good equipment, it is by no means necessary in this sort of event.
Needless to say, the race was tremendous fun, and I'll be there for the next one in a couple of weeks. ---------- An idea for helping people to appreciate ECCM |

(Originally written for the DS Forums; this account of the race will be biased. Please bear that in mind).
Aunia I û Moon 11 û Fed Navy Assembly Plant
Only an hour to go until the start of the new racing season and Kayleigh Jamieson was still docked at the Racing Team hangars in Aunia. She was the last one there. The rest of the team had all taken off and now it was her turn. SheÆd seen them all off with a last briefing, some last minute recommendations and tips, and one tight good luck hug. Now the hangar was quiet for the first time in weeks. The mechanics had done all they could and the crews were at their stations.
In the background, her two spare racers sat. They looked as if they were sleeping in the shadows. But under the spotlight, her racing Rifter shone under a new coat of paint. Kayleigh reached up with one hand, fingertips brushing the hull as she paced slowly around the ship, for one last outside look.
The Dragonbourne had been her prime racer frigate before the advent of Firetails. Even its name had come from the other corp mates. This frigate was her pride. It represented all the good things Dragonstar had ever done for one Kayleigh Jamieson. It had sat in the hangar for too long; now that faction frigates had been outlawed from the League, it was time to get it back out and once more fly faster than light itself.
The new painting looked nice. It was all black, with a subtle pattern of golden dragon scales all over. Proud red letters displayed the name Dragonstar over and under the wings, along with the number two she had earned in Season One. Owi would probably be sporting the number one somewhere in his frigate. She briefly wondered what ship he would fly now that he could not tap into his impressive collection of Faction frigates. She shook her head. No sense worrying about it now. She had assembled the best ship she could get and would do her best on the race track.
Kayleigh had reached the nose of her Rifter. She looked up and her grey eyes sparkled as she smiled. Her fingers gently traced the outline of the stylish blue flower and flowery lettering of the Glamour Bunnies logo. She wondered if the Bunnies really would bring some cheerleaders to the start line and it made her chuckle.
Yesà this was going to be a great race.
The first race of the new season has been runà and it was chaos. The good kind of chaos!
24 pilots lined up at the start û thatÆs three times the previous record amount of racers in a race on Season One! û and launched recklessly into space as Gyra Rho gave the green light. My overview was packed full of fellow racers for most of the race. What excitement!
The new season is on, and anything can happen.

Preparations
This season the DS Racing Team is made up of four racers, as new rules allow for multiple racers per corporation. We are lining up with me (Kayleigh Jamieson), Iconath, Scavanger and Taco Smakbez. We ought to have been five, but mere days before the start of the new racing season Loras Forsythe moved to Endless Night and is therefore no longer a member of the team. Turncoat! :P
For this race, DS was racing in a home circuit, seeing that Essence is where our HQ is located. We all fitted our plain T1 frigates as well as we could, and trusted our racing expertise to takes us through the first race. However, we did study the map and identified a few key-systems where we might go through. And once we made up our minds, we went around making instas. Obviously this was a good idea û read on and youÆll understand just how crucial this was.
Nervous, with hands shaking and in some cases clammy, we docked and joined the racing channel. It wasà noisy, to say the least! It was crowded! It was at once exciting and intimidating. No more the quiet channel where a few veteran racers threw some friendly jabs at each other; Ms Rho was busy trying to answer all the newcomersÆ doubts and we veterans were staring in disbelief and delight at how many pilots had shown up.
Busy with our own last minute preparations, we kept mostly silent.
The Race
At 20h EvE time, we got the green light and launched off of Wysalan. My overview lit up with other racers; IÆd never seen anything like that, and it was only the first of many new sights.
I donÆt think any of the rookies had much trouble with the start, which is always nice. I like a race well run. I did catch a tiny bit of a scare because my screen remained black for a bit longer than I expected and I feared that black-screen-at-undock bug, but fortunately the screen cleared and I could see all my competition. Frantic, I clicked my autopilot on and warped out.
IÆd love to be able to give an accurate account of what happened, but the truth is there were so many pilots in there I didnÆt even know which position I was in for a long time! I could see my team mates keeping pace, but the rest were just a collection of tiny white squares in my view. No way to tell names without losing time, and I wasnÆt going to fall for that! So, hands shaking with excitement, I tried to focus on getting my gate approaches just right, and not losing any time to anyone.
On the way to Waypoint One racers started to gradually spread outà but only very gradually. I started seeing less pilots and realising I was in a group with Owi (who was fast pulling away from us), Nakatre Read (who was making a fabulous dTbut û prompted by instas as it later turned out), Hal Seldon, Malcom Carswell, Loras Forsythe (until she got dropped from the game, hahaha!) and my team mates Taco Smakbez, Iconath and Scavanger.
Then Waypoint One happenedà and it was hectic. At one point well over half the racers were about in that planet, either orbiting the can or making approaches. And the lag on the new cans with all those BMs on board? Huge!! But at least we veterans knew what we were in for. The poor rookies were finding this all very strange and asking lots of questions. I just tried to get out of there as fast as I could, but my can approach was appalling and I lost some time to Owi. Not so sure I lost that much time to anyone else. Perhaps some. I know Scavanger has turned can approach into an art form.
After Waypoint One, we at the head of the race finally figured out who we were and where we were, as the racers spread out a little more. Owi was ahead, with Nakatre right at his heels, then Hal, Taco and me (not necessarily in this order) doing our best to catch up, and now and then I caught glimpses of other pilots û TheDevilsJury, Ronins Shadow and Steph Wing pop to mind, for instance.

But all too quickly we arrived at Waypoint 2, an asteroid belt in Ladistier, and the first place where we would be under enemy fire. I had been too slow or too dumbfounded to take a picture of WP1, but I took a screenie at WP2. I was still nervous, though, so I forgot to close some windows and the scenery doesnÆt really show. IÆll cut the overview, though, and post it up somewhere so you guys can see what my overview looked like, with all the people about. It shows 11 racers, almost half the pilots racing. And Owi had already left when I took the snapshot! I was already orbiting the can there, so the closest those names are to me in distance, the closest they were to fighting for that second place behind Owi û just so you get an idea.
I think Kendar Zek decided then to shoot at the local fauna while waiting for the cans to open. And true enough the wait was a bit long. I was fortunate enough to never get any aggro during the race, but others sure did. Taco at one point was left with just 20% armour, and Icon himself was the target of a few pot shots, but they didnÆt penetrate very far into his defenses.
As the racers thinned out a little more, some interesting fights for position took place. Nakatre Read, of newcomers Vindication Angels, kept dogging OwiÆs heels until trouble with a bookmark that did not reach her cargo hold caused her to drop off of the race û a pity as Owi got some breathing space. Taco, Hal Seldon and I were then locked in a fight for second place that just didnÆt seem to resolve any time soon. A little behind us, Lillith Blackheart of True Core started making really good times and threatening LorasÆ position. Unfortunately she then ran into trouble of her own at a waypoint with a laggy can and some NPC aggro involving warp-outs that lost her some precious time as well as making her lose sight of Loras.
My race turned gradually into just me, Hal, Taco and (now and then) a glimpse of Iconath. It was a stalemate. Hal kept just a few thousand metres ahead of me through dozens of jumps; no matter what I did I just couldnÆt get an edgeà until we got to Old Man Star and the instas we had. In two jumps I was sniffing HalÆs exhaust fumes, so to speak. And then WP6 (the last) came up, and it was over 100km from the warp-in point. I couldnÆt have asked for anything better. My top speed is nice (yes, IÆm being modest), and the long sprint went in my favour. When we left WP6, Taco and I were ahead of Hal. Now it was just a question of not bouncing off any gates and turning that previous stalemate in my favour: make sure Hal couldnÆt gain any time on me!
In the end, my hands were shaking quite a bit and I had to get the station just right! I nearly fumbled with my drop-down menus, but I managed to click the right place! I docked just behind Taco and we made a Dragonstar 2 and 3 on the podium. Woohoo!
Hal docked just behind me and Iconath followed a few seconds after. What a great finish for DS! Three racers in the top 5! I couldnÆt have asked for a better start to the season.

Aftermath
Owi showed not only us veterans but also all the newly-signed racers why he was champion of season one by finishing 3 whole minutes ahead of anyone else. Congratulations, Owi!
Ronins Shadow was the best of the rookies, with a strong 7th place for Bre-X right behind veteran racer Malcom Carswell û now racing for a new corporation, Chosen Path û and the Eve University team showed great unity with a strong block finish in places 9, 10, and 11. Loras Forsythe, former member of the DS Racing Team finished 12th snatching those points from our brave test pilot, Scavanger.
Lillith Blackheart made the best of her can problems to dock in 14th, and Kendar Zek, despite insisting on losing time by shooting mobs at asteroid belts still managed to grab 19th place. Kazuo Ishiguro, despite an extremely expensive setting on his Rifter could only grab 20th place; Perhaps next time, Kazuoà Of the 24 racers lined up only Nakatre Read of Vindication Angels didnÆt finish. The last finish was in the hands of rookie Jarkardi Hughes.
Notes to self: 1) Go back to basics and practise can approaches. 2) Keep an eye out for newcomers Nakatre Read and Lillith Blackheart as well as oldbies Malcom Carswell and Hal Seldon û these people are fast and IÆd rather keep them behind me ;). 3) There must be a way to catch Owi.
Ladistier II û Asteroid Belt 1, a.k.a. Waypoint 2
Kayleigh bit her lip and never even noticed the taste of pod fluid. Frowning hard in concentration, she swerved right and then left, narrowly avoiding a collision with NakatreÆs Executioner. There were seven racers already orbiting the Waypoint 2 RhoDyne container, waiting patiently for it to open. Or not so patiently.
ôThis traffic is unbelievable!ö she willed her thoughts into the private Dragonstar communications channel. Even that slight distraction almost made her brush against MalcomÆs underside and they both swept by in their orbit trajectories.
ôIÆm being shot at!ö That was TacoÆs voice.
ôHang in there. WeÆll be out soon,ö she encouraged. There really wasnÆt much else she could do. The Serpentis ship was too far away for her weapons to have any effect, and even if it were close, it would lose her some precious time to focus her energies and attention on downing a belt rat. Then came the muffled sound of explosions. Kayleigh twisted her neck in reflex, trying to look over her shoulder. ôWhoÆs shooting whom?ö she asked over the private channel.
ôI donÆt know,ö said Scavanger. ôSomeone is shooting at the Serpentis.ö
Kayleigh looked back at the can, trying to will it to open faster. And then as she did another arc in space she got the perfect angle to see someone in an Atron shooting at the Serpentis. Dearest Kendar, no doubt trying to make space a safer place for Kayleigh to traverse. She smiled, but it was a brief gesture as yet another Executioner whooshed past right in front of her, narrowly missing her û Taco, this time.
She saw Nakatre starting to align for a warp out and was about to curse when her crew notified her of the can opening. Finally! SheÆd be out of this mess in a moment and back to pure racing and the thrill of trying to catch Nakatre and Owi.

The races will be closer, more exciting, and will involve a greater level of concentration and skill. Now that we have warp to 0km, all competitors are on a much more even footing, and people will need to use the autopilot much more judiciously. I expect to see every single pilot fitting a full rack of inertia stabilisers, and more Vigils.
Is anyone else going to be buying some of those rigs that increase warp speed? ---------- An idea for helping people to appreciate ECCM |

At current component prices a Hyperspace Velocity rig would cost well over 200 million isk, perhaps closer to 1 billion isk.
I don't think anyone will have one.
If they ever get down to reasonable prices, there's a chance we might see them being another "must-have" fitting.

Once again, the Serpentis rats wanted to play. Once again, they were repaid with furious wrath for their meddling. After being accosted by three destroyers at a lowsec waypoint, I was reduced to 47% hull, which leaves me in the unfortunate position of engaging or dying at each successive waypoint.
The kill count was...
1 Shadow Serpentis Chief Spy (431k+ ISK) 2 Serpentis Infantry (18k ISK ea.) 6 Serpentis Guards (10k ISK ea.)
I'd like to thank my fellow racers for taking out that third destroyer. I'm impressed with the good sportsmanship of all the competitors; thus far, no one has taken a shot at another racer.
Congratulations to the winners! I look forward to seeing you all again at the next race.

First of all, congratulations to Hal Seldon and Nakatre Read. I'm only sorry stupid stuff happened on my end that made me reboot the game at WP6; if not for that I think I might have discussed first place with Hal all the way to the finish line. Great race, Hal ;)
Congratulations also to the Dragonstar team as a whole. There was some great team work there in overcoming all the difficulties in this particularly hellish race. I couldn't be prouder of my team.
I'll write a full race report sometime tomorrow, but in the meantime maybe someone can tell me who was shooting at us in WP5 (Loes III, Asteroid Belt 1) because two of the three aggroed me and got me all the way down to 30% Armour before I could pull a BM from the can. Being leader of the race sometimes sucks

Race Results: Verge Vendor Saturday evening's romp through Verge Vendor proved to be quite a trial for many of the racers, not only in race length but enduring the heavy presence of Serpentis gangs traversing the belts. Thanks in part to Kendar Zek, who graciously added twenty million isk towards this event, he made the finish line that much sweeter for the frontline finishers. With the recent navigation changes in addition to some of the old adversaries (gate queues, comm instability), many racers crossed the finish line with considerable armor and hull damage. A special mention for Mes Ren, the only pilot who suffered a loss and still managed to cross the finish line.

Race Results: Sinq Laison Sinq Laison served the center stage for the third rage of the season as well as an experiment in track design. As one can see from the finish times, the race itself has been reduced in length considerably with less downtime between waypoints yet plenty of opportunity for chaos with the increased quantity of waypoints. Fortunately the Serpentis and local rats seemed to be lathargic and sensor malfunctions were kept to a minimum and no casualties were recorded.
Kudos to everyone who finished this clean race, and we hope to see everyone in two weeks!

Just a bit of feedback to the new track design - I honestly felt throughout the race that it has just started and I was doing just a few warm-up jumps.
But maybe this can attributed to a growing headache on my end as well as the lesser number of racers compared to the first two races.
I definitely liked the previous designs better with maybe less waypoints but longer stretches between waypoints.

Race Results: Everyshore Saturday's race was held in the Everyshore region, a rather quiet region of Federation space with an ample CONCORD presence. However, that didn't stop the Serpentis from ravaging our racer's hulls or the locals from sending some friendly warnings about future incursions into their space ("Roger, next time please let us know. I was already on my way fitting smarties."). Despite all this no racer lost their ship. Overall there was only one issue with a phantom waypoint that mysteriously disappeared from the scanners at Torvi, and after further investigation concluded there may have been some kind of subspace anomaly that affected the pilot's scanners as the container itself showed no signs of tampering.
Congratulations to everyone who finished, and we hope to see everyone in two weeks!

Basic racing setup is straghtforward: fastest frig possible, MWD in mid, inertia stabs / nano in lows and a few SP in Navigation.
Cap Battery in mid helps long warp jumps, everything else is optional - just pick something useful to fill the grid / cpu left.
You could try practicing the race courses listed here to get an idea on your times (add 1-2 min for each waypoint it takes to open the BM can).
Happy racing!

Depending on the warp distances encountered, it's probably worth fitting one or two rigs that increase warp speed - 3 of them get you going at 10.368au/s rather than the usual 6 for a t1 frig. ------

Just an FYI for those wanting to attend the race tonight(in less than two hours), there is a low sec access point to the Solitude region at the Shirshocin system. For those uneasy about traversing through 0.0 this is a reasonable alternative and easily travelled in fast frigates.
Feel free to stop into the Racing League channel for further details- I'll be happy to give directions.

Alas, not such a good evening's racing as I'd hoped for.
Out of the fourteen or so people who entered, I was about 6th up until the 7th waypoint, when I was attacked by a Guristas destroyer. As usual, the bookmarks were taking ages to appear, and I was extremely glad that I'd fitted a cap injector and a T2 Small Armour Repairer. I was constantly running out of cap, but a steady supply of cap booster 50 kept me going, provided I kept activating the repairer.
Some time later, I was well into armour (where were those bookmarks?), when with no input from me, the client minimised. An auto-update of AVG antivirus (which opened a small sort of pop-up window) might have caused this, but I've known this to happen under different circumstances as well. Either way, it shouldn't have happened.
I got EVE back on screen again just in time to reactivate the SAR II, but by then I was over 90% into hull and my ship was destroyed before a cycle could complete. Oh, and those &*^%$&ú! bookmarks finally appeared, slowing things down again
I freely admit that there were other means I could have tried to use to survive, but it's my view that what should have worked didn't, for reasons beyond my control.
I haven't totally written off the loss just yet, but I'll be back no matter what. At least I was able to enjoy some Tchaikovsky during the race

Race Results: Lonetrek The second race of the State circuit proved to be quite an upset for many of our league's regular contenders, and a surprising upsurge from the newer participants. While Nakatre continues her dominance, Mr. Custeau managed to secure second place, while fierce contenders Kayleigh Jamieson and Loras Forsythe where nowhere to be seen at the podium. One such obstacle was in the first waypoint in Daras, which already had a waypoint that served as waypoint 4 for the Lonetrek races during the previous season. Guristas also proved to be quite a hindrance, pelting hulls with missiles as they passed between belts, yet fortunately no one was dispatched. Thanks to everyone for participating, and hopefully we'll see everyone in two weeks for the final installment of this circuit, to be held in the Forge. The results are as follows:
1 - Nakatre Read [URIEL] - Rifter (00:36:25) 2 - Jacque Custeau [KOMR] - Vigil (00:37:49) 3 - Taco Smakbez [DS] - Executioner (00:38:37) 4 - Kazuo Ishugiro - Vigil (00:38:53) 5 - Kayleigh Jamieson [DS] - Rifter (00:39:05) 6 - Loras Forsythe [ENDL] - Vigil (00:39:12) 7 - Scavanger [DS] - Vigil (00:40:36) 8 - Steph Wing [E-UNI] - Executioner (00:41:08)

In an effort to improve attendance and participation in the league races, I have made some changes to the format. The remainder of the season will operate on a weekly basis rather than bi-weekly, and race results will be posted on the Intergalactic Summit as an in-character summary. This original thread will still be the home for updates on formatting or rules changes, as will any other important information.
Also, I have posted an announcement regarding corporate sponsorship in the hopes of improving awareness of the event, located here.

Edited by: Jacque Custeau on 12/02/2007 04:50:18 I applaud the change to weekly racing. It won't bode well for my 3 week vacation in March, but I will be sure to come back with the same enthusiasm.
Thanks must go to Ms. Rho for all the effort that goes into organizing this. The event itself is great but also gives one the oppurtunity to interact with more people in EvE. The format of the race itself is innovative and gives plenty of oppurtunity for over taking. I must admit at first I thought the clear advantage would go to the highest SP racer with the most expensive rigs. However, when I did race, I discovered this was far from the truth. ------------------- |

While I certainly applaud this change, I keep hoping I can still make it to the races. I'll certainly try.
Quote: Thanks must go to Ms. Rho for all the effort that goes into organizing this.
I think she knows how much I and in fact all of Dragonstar appreciate the effort, but just in case she doesn't: THANK YOU!! We love racing! I have fun even when I have crap races and can only finish 5th
Quote: I must admit at first I thought the clear advantage would go to the highest SP racer with the most expensive rigs. However, when I did race, I discovered this was far from the truth.
A good thing you mention this. This is very true. I've talked to people intereted in racing who were a bit scared of trying to go up against me, 'cause I (might) have lots of Nav skills, rigs, super-duper modules on board, the like. But there's a lot more to racing than top speed. And standings leaders can and do make mistakes out there in the race track. Every time you line up for the start anything can happen.
So if you're not in the league but have been following the results wishing you could race and make a difference: join the league. So ok, the first race will be a learning experience and you won't win. But the next, and the next? You never know.

Agreed. Given several people with roughly equal fittings and some common sense, the deciding factor is usually the 'lottery' that ensues when everyone turns up at a waypoint and it takes up to 60 seconds for the bookmarks to load before some people can get at them.
I'm not sure about the move to Intergalactic Summit, though - I'll have to think about leaving SAK so that I'm allowed to post there ------

It's in two weeks time, as far as I can tell, and for which I'm extremely grateful as neither Scavanger nor I would have been able to race on the 10th... and we don't want Nakatre gaining too much of an advantage over me, do we?

Edited by: Steph Wing on 13/03/2007 00:16:51 Gyra, I sent you a question through Evemail, regarding whether I can keep racing under the E-Uni flag if I switch corporations. I'd appreciate an answer soon since at the moment it's the only thing keeping me from joining TGRAD.
If I don't hear from you soon, I'll have to assume the answer is "yes". I don't expect my offer to last forever. --- "I am a leaf on the wind. Watch how I soar." |

I'd be interested in this too - but I think I may have to wait until season three starts now. I've missed a third of the season already and that doesnt give much scope for catching up.

It's true that there isn't much room for catching up to the leaders, but 10th place is feasible and there's a prize in store for whoever finishes in that position. Also, showing up at a few races before the start of Season Three would be a good idea just to get a feel of how the races go, how to set up your ship and so on.
So my advice is: show up at least for a couple of races. That way you can start Season Three with a nicely-set-up frigate. Hopefully you'll still have some fun in the process of racing too

It's rather late in the season, but there's a prize for 10th place which is still achieveable if you can put in a few podium finishes. ------ Top speed calculation spreadsheet - updated for the recent speed nerf Army of doom headcount: 26,045 |

Actually you don't even need any podium finishes. There are 9 races to go and 10th place currently rests in the hand of Owi (who quit the League way back in the beginning of Season Two) at 160 points. That means you need to average 17,7 points per race to match him at the end of the season - let's round it up to 18 points, which is how much we get for a 14th place at the finish line.
Since we haven't even had as many as 10 racers in one single race since the early races, you can see how easily you might get your hands on that 10th place prize. Just join us and finish a few races Hopefully you'll have some fun in the process.
Kay.

Mr. Shadow is already aware of our stance on this topic, but to alleviate any further concerns about this, there are to be no transfers of corporate earned points from one entity to another. Your points remain with whatever company you were working for at the time.
