IAC, we're outta here. Why?
Primarily, since Tuesday, our client has been MIA and the other groups who had expressed an interest in taking advantage of the situation basically failed to find their wallets and move on it.
Bottom line - we are mercenaries, and mercenaries get paid.
We want to continue what we started. It's been fun! For the last 72 hours, I've been literally sitting on the edge of my seat waiting to post the next op order (already written) and pounce on the opportunity, waiting on an extension to this job. It hasnÆt happened. Oh well.
Soà some background, as I know many are curious. :)
It was stated in another thread that hiring the MC as a gank squad was a bit hard to believe. Well, heheà All I can say is that if you are in the merc business long enough the first thing you learn is that people in EVE with money (as in tens of billions in loose change) donÆt think the same way as most ænormalÆ players. To them, sending the MC off to cause some havoc on a lark is just a source of amusement.
However, I suspect that this was a bit more complicated than that. A lot more thought went into this than just us going in and shooting up IAC. Not even I am privy to everything a client thinks; so long as my wallet flashes, I send my people in.
Our contract goal was to, "**** with IAC, have fun and make Tyraxx lose some sleep. Keep them busy." That we have most certainly done. In fact, our client was thrilled with the amount of effort and destructive power we put into this. When we broached the subject of hitting G-7 (F4R was not built at the time), it was warmly received. Of course we didn't want to just run around ganking people. We build our big toys for a reason and figured we'd get more action by poking at the proverbial hornet's nest.
To be clear, taking the outposts was bonus pay, not a requirement. Obviously we never intended to keep them ourselves, but we were not opposed to turning them over to another competent power. So, we went for it and ran into more resistance than we expected (CVA, AXE, etcà). Given a couple more weeksÆ time, who knows what tricks we might have pulled out of our hats? Frankly, I wish we could show you, butà
Folksà we're Mercs. We're not in this for land and we're not an army. We're shock troops, and when the paychecks stop coming in, we go home. It's as simple as that. At this point, I cannot justify holding us in place any longer.
We have nothing but respect for the vast majority of IACÆs pilots, and the CVA and AXE who stood beside them to turn us aside when the POSÆs came out of reinforced. We went in with too little to do the job this past Monday and we paid for it in blood. It was one battle in a larger war but at this scale of conflict, with so much on the line, itÆs to be expected that you will not always succeed on the first try.
Now I know there will be people who want to say, ôSel, you lost and youÆre just trying to spin this.ö Go ahead and smack it up. Or, you can believe that we did exactly what we were supposed to do. ItÆs your choice. It wonÆt be the first time outsiders have tried to judge us and it probably will not be the last.
Thank you to FIX and KIA all for the extraordinary effort you have put into this campaign. ItÆs been a pleasure.
Look for the War Story on the events of last weekend and this week to be posted here sometime next Monday or Tuesday. It should draw a clearer picture of our point of view.
Adios, IAC. Congrats on surviving the storm. WeÆre going home after nearly two months on the road for a well deserved rest. -

not going to say sad to see you got but it was fun while it lasted. Smack everywhere on the forums of course but it's the forums and hey smacking can be entertaining at times. Your pilots were fun to chat with in local too.
And congrats to iac we did it

Nice work Seleene. I particularly appreciate the recent effort to provide more outside insight into the ongoing conflicts.
Sounds like fun.

Edited by: Waagaa Ktlehr on 20/10/2006 18:15:57 If anything, this has been a great training experience for the MC. Thanks to FIX and KIA for fighting on our wings, I hope most of you enjoyed it as much as I did when the servers were able to keep running :)
Props to IAC for being able to hold on to your space in the way you did. I hope we got a couple of IAC members into the PvP thing as they might've discovered a new venue in this game that's to their liking. :)

I had lotsa fun as I immediately knew I would when it first started. Thanks mystery employer and MC
I didn't lose any sleep at all over it, in fact the first thing I did when I heard about the attack in F4R was grab Raem Civrie and hit the town. (funny how first time I go to a rave I meet J4m Z, a GM and t20 there ) I've known and been saying for months that it'd take far far far more than it's worth to take and keep G-7W from IAC so the chances of it ever happening are negligible. I did call in sick to work for the Monday action tho, so if skipping sleep for awesome fleet action counts then mission accomplished.
Wouldn't surprise me at all if those contract goals were true tbh
Stirring things up and messing with the political map is the most fun thing you can possibly do when you've got the ISK to burn, I know I'd be employing mercs all the damn time if I had an extra couple hundred billion to waste.

I hope you don't mind but we will not set you to blue standings either... Time to raise some havoc, I think IAC is starting to enjoy the shooty shooty...lol. ~Silv

Originally by: Bek <@Bek> I like <@Bek> how the contract stated <@Bek> Tyrrax was to lose sleep <@Bek> so naturally, the first night he goes out ot a bar :p
I had just come out of the shower, me and Arach planning to hit the bars that night, and find out he's still doing whatever in EVE. I tell him to get his ass ready as he was the designated driver.
Then you invade.
I had to wait 30 minutes longer until Mr. Beard finally saw fit to pick me up. Sods.
(Fun Fact: Within two hours of confirmed invasion, I was drunk!)

You've got to be kidding -- it was a terrific learning experience for all of us, lots of fun, great company. Anyone who did not enjoy this ride is playing the wrong game, I'd say. Thanks for having us!
Thanks as well to the IAC and friends for playing nice, both here and in-game. Wish more encounters would be handled in this manner.

No, but it's an uber tank and for a tank it mines a lot better than an Apoc. Also, you can park a lot of Itty Vs in that thing, so you don't have to haul to a nearby station, just fill all the itties in the SMA and then jump it back to base, back into the belt, rinse and repeat! -
