Hey, everyone out there, list what you think are the three top things that either need to be fully implemented, altered/changed/modified/balanced, or added into to game to make it more enjoyable.
1: Leadership Skills - Bring back gang formations and bonuses.
2: Black Market - Bring in a way to make money and make contacts in the criminal world.
3: Combat - Man, we need ways to fight without being CHEAP. Make a way where we don't all sit at jump in areas. No more logging off during battle to save yourself. No more leaving corps in the middle of battle to have Concord jump in. Make frigates not STINK!
Now it's your turn. List away. --------------------------------------------------

INteresting. one thing that would be nice is to get rid of the "log out, ship dissappears" thing..
Make it that you should get your ship to a station if you want to log out for the night..
and if you log out during combat... sorry, but that ship is going to go down.... -----

First fix the warp sticking. Logging out is the only way out of a warp stick in battle.

Edited by: Riana Tabost on 03/11/2003 00:50:27 Vel Kyri: I'm surprised you didnĘt think about that before, I usually respect your posts. Obviously the system is designed with the ship-disappear feature with client crashes in mind. If the client looses connection with the server because of any matter outside the *player's* control, the player should not be punished. This includes power failures, client-software errors, network interruptions etc. At the same time it must be balanced so that it cannot be exploited.
That said, here's my wish list. 1. Fixed module and User module change Basically, make ships have maximum volume and mass. Adding modules would use up mass and volume... allows more options on small ships.
2. Mining ships Battleship mining is philthy. PHILTHY!
3. Ship Crews I posted a bit of a summery part way down page 3 of that topic. __________________________________________________________________________ May I recommend a Cybernetic Subprocessor?.. That's an intelligence implant, sweetheart.

Being tested on Chaos test server as we speak.
[Quote]2: Black Market - Bring in a way to make money and make contacts in the criminal world.
Skills are present on Chaos test server
My list: 1) rename-able subfolder in personal hangar. 2) fitting favorites (I get sick of refitting my ship, taking and refitting 22 items to switch from mining to combat)Just a favorites folder as in Explorer would do wonders

yes, i've had CTD a number of times... but i log back in ASAP.
since in battle i have things like boosters going on auto, i am notmally safe for the short while it takes for me to log back on...
<sigh>
but... ship crews - 110% in favour of that.... -----

There is a solution for crashes and ships not disappearing.
If the server detects a lost connection it should perform a warp command to a random spot in the system. That way the player will be safe. However if he was scrambled then the warp will fail so it can't be abused to get out of combat. And i don't see any problem with implementing it either. I'm pretty sure there is a flag indicating combat already so all they need to do is generate a random point and send the command as if the player wanted to warp.
If fighting NPC a teleport could be allowed so they'll be safe even when scrambled.

Interesting stuff people, some things I never even considered.
I might have to throw in the empire faction system actually meaning something too, ala http://oldforums.eveonline.com/?a=topic&threadID=41435&page=2 --------------------------------------------------

Dukath - why didn't i think of that...
YES!! warp to a location not normally available. (but if webbed and scrabled, well, sorry but you took your chances)
if someone is really trying to get you, then they can still find you using the scanner - although its a slow process - very slow.
but i really wish that ships were "permanent", in that they stayed in space all the time, so unless you are in a station you are not truly safe. -----

Interesting.. but what about: 1. For PvP, player enemies can use their Scanner to locate you after you have warped to a random location. 2. If you are warp scrambled, the auto-warp fails... but what if you had eccm (ecm burst, warp core stabaliser) etc. In such a situation a player would have been able to escape but the 'AI' would fail, no? 3. Consider faction standings. What if the 'AI' warps you to a station that has hostile sentry guns? 4. Future tech levels... it has to be a solution that allows for new features to be implemented into the game without needing to re-invent the wheel on this topic. Consider a device that pulls you out of warp.. right into the hands of player pirates (like Interdictors from Star Wars).
In all the above scenarios, try giving a solution that works for 1. A player who exploits by turning off their computer. 2. A player who's ISP has a 3 hour outage. 3. A client crash. __________________________________________________________________________ May I recommend a Cybernetic Subprocessor?.. That's an intelligence implant, sweetheart.

Riana, its does seem that the only way to ensure innocent players dont get hurt is the timed "dissappear"..
shame really. as it does let some players get away...
perhaps a "warp to midspace" and then the timer starts?
in anycase - the 3 things that i feel REALLY need to be fixed
1 REAL Faction systems 2 Replace concord with faction navy to protect faction noobies. 3 roles for ship classes (the whole too many battleships thing) -----

Re ppl loggin out during PvP.. would it be possible to have a system that recognises when someone is being targeted by another player (not NPC obviously) and that whilst you are targeted by a another player your ship does not disappear if you log out.
When not targeted you disappear in the normal time.

Edited by: Wren on 03/11/2003 12:13:52 Maybe make the timer longer for you to dissapear, say up to 5 minutes. However, at the end of 30 seconds, you warp to a random place in the system. If there is nothing in the system (no belts, stars, planets, stations) then you just warp 25 AU away.
This in conjuction with a better logging system would result in those who had CTD's or other legit reasons for suddenly leaving in the middle of battle would have a way to petition for their stuff back. However, players who tried to logout for saftey would only find themselves in a new pod.
Any thoughts? --------------------------------------------------

I think, a logout request is normally sent in the case of someone loggine out, where a crash is just a termination of the connection. (I could be wrong, woudn't be the first time.) So, someone logging out could get a longer time out time... but then they would just turn off the comp. Perhaps if you log out of combat x number times in y amount of time you take some sort of penalty? This way your the benifit of the doubt (still exploytatble) but it will catch up to you (hopefully).

The first versions of star craft online playing had this same problem. People would exploit it to keep their win records (disconnecting the network connection). The other person playing would have to either quit or wait for them to come back.
You can never tell the difference between: 1)real connection loss, 2) a person that just pulls the plug out of thier machine.
If you give the user the benefit of the doubt you will open yourself for exploiting. Before CCP inplimented the logout timer people would just log out during a battle to not loose their ships.
I have been on both sides of the problem. My corpmate and I in two blackbirds almost had an Arma. He knew that if he logged out we couldn't do enough damage to kill him. It worked in his favor, one minute after he logged out he was gone. We were left standing with only screen shots showing how far we had him down to. His ship disapeared with only about half his structure left. I also lost a thorax due to CTD. I was being chased by 3 scorps all over a system. Right after warping to get away the third time I crashed. When I got back in I was only in a pod. I was lucky to have gotten my pod out. SNIGG is now officially open for business. We are a merc corp looking for contracts. For more info click below http://oldforums.eveonline.com/?a=topic&threadID=68313 |

Edited by: JardaR G'Kar on 06/11/2003 11:58:13 If you want permanent ship in space. I want programer which set my speed to max, activate shield booster, armor repair and starts docking to selected station when my connections falls.
And hare we go lets begin with macros.
