On the fleet targetting issue ... It would be utterly fantastic if CCP get around to giving us some kind of Alliance Management tool that lets us add groups of corps to an Alliance Entity and (then define standings for other Alliances (or groups of corps).
Current example would be to have an NVA "super corp entity" that an administrator could add our friendly corps too. While setting global standings to the Dark Empire corps to -20.
Would be a massive boon to administrative ease and make the alliance structure more solid and dependable.

Quote: Viceroy, my point is that the pirates were refusing to fight when the opposition uses the very same tactics that the pirates use to their own advantage.
There is therefore no room for hypocrisy on either side.
Well actually we jumped right into the hell hole, we didnt refuse to fight.
And we never call people cowards etc. for not jumping into OUR traps. we call them smart intelligent people that know the art of warfare -

Quote: You were camping the jumpin, we were at a gate. Jumping in causes 10x the loading time of warping to a gate. You expected us to jump into a area with 500 mines (60km away), and 40 ships, many which had drones.
Sorry but that isnt a fight, not even close. We wouldnt have had the SLIGHTEST chance, not even to get a lock before we died.
We were at the gate, no mines, just battleships and drones, loading time would be high, but it could never be compared with the jumpin. Plus you would probably gang warp in, thus you would all be there at the same time, removing the huge disadvantage of dropping in one by one at a jumpin.
Plus you outnumbered us.
The fleet lag was unbearable anyway, no battle could have been done no matter what, with so many ships it would have been impossible.
But if we're talking about who had the obvious advantage, it was you. Your position was 10 times better than ours, thats why i dont blame you for not attacking, but US attacking YOU would not have been the same as YOU attacking US (at a view of loading time and game mechanics)
Here's what gets me...
Despite all this and the virtual inevitibility that you would sustain tragic losses, you guys jumped into the system anyway.
Bravery? Or did someone in your command in fact know that the jump would be safe?
And don't try to impress us with how you would have destroyed us because of superior PvP experience. Won't wash. Can't kill anything while you're loading for two minutes. Jumping into that system given the odds and the certainty of lag was suicidal. Yet someone in charge gave the order anyway.
That's what leads us to believe the jump-in was not only changed, but that someone in BM had advanced knowledge it had been changed. BM have not shown the tendency to be suicidal in the past.

jump in to gate would at least give the option for tactical maneuvering and spread out defenses.
but TomB linked it to solving the lag issue (as with roid spawn and deep-core mining...) so we wont see any "solution" for month to come.

Edited by: Mongo Peck on 03/11/2003 19:33:04 OOC ....... As I player I fully expected to land in the same location as the defending forces ...... I also expected to get wasted after 3 mins of lag .... but if the boss says jump .... we jump ...
I actually feel annoyed that you even suggest we had knowledge ... with totally honesty ... we all thought we were going to die ...
In character ..... we knew we could whip your arses .. Mongo speaks !!
