Even though im fully aware that this question is pointless to an extent, im still going to ask it, because hey, why the **** not.
Most people would agree that Crucible is the best expansion since Apocrypha, but my question is : Is it better than Apocrypha?
IMO its not as great as Apocrypha considering the short amount of time CCP had worked on it, but damn excellent never the less.
Great job CCP. |

Of course it is not better the Expansions FIS Content was rushed out very quickly.
It is the next Expansion that will be judged against Apocrypha.

Bam! Which one is better? A red mini with white stripes or a blue mini with UK flag?
It's up to you really, imho mini sucks as a sports car. (Still shines as a douche wrap)
Now we talk about eve, to me both expansions are decent, but neither wins eve. Nobody has ever stated, omg Crucible is Epic WIN!!! If we had posts that Apochrypha is 'over 9000', then possibly devs outdone themselves.
Currently we have whiners, balance touches any and every body in delicate places, it accounts for 'uncertain success', nobody really cumming for the New Raven. Very few scream about 'hybrid rebalance'. They argue that more could be done. Even the much asked for 'font and readability' has mixed reception from the fan base.
Honestly, this expansion is the right, firm step, which is not met with applause and happiness. Still it makes eve more solid, instills hope in bears that one day they get something better to do than whine. |

IMO Apocrypha was better, because Wspace is a work of genius and the T3s have stood the test of time.
However, Crucible may well be more important, it marks the change of direction and the change of attitude. They are finally implementing ideas the players have actually asked for. |

I think they are both equally as important. Apocrypha is the standard set. Crucible is the first step towards reigniting that level of quality a game like EVE deserves.

What were the good things about Apocrypha anyway? For those who weren't around then.
As for Crucible, I echo Opertone's comments. It's a right and firm step forward in each thing it has done, but those parts are also getting mixed reception. Fonts, balancing, nebulae. But that aside, I think the deliberate effort and focus shown by CCP (for this rather unfocused expansion) are applauded by all.
Now can we fix up the ship lighting and the nebulae and the interdictors and enhance those engine trails and .... |

It introduced T3 Cruisers into the game. 2500 more Systems, the Wormhole systems Dynamic Scanning System. (It broke Sniping though) EVE's first Group PVE with Sleeper Site. (The AI was later expanded on to create Incursions) The current Tutorial. Epic Arc Missions. A ton of Bug Fixes and little improvements. New Modules like T2 Salvager, Probe Launchers and such.

Apocrypha was a million times better than Crucible. Wormholes offered a huge new range of different ways to play the game, whole different kinds of corps popped up as a result, strategy for a ton of things changed outside of wormholes as a result. Apocrypha included just as many fixes and tweaks as Crucible on top of the wormholes. T3 ships were in Apocrypha too, and they are probably more interesting than the new battlecruisers.
It's hard to even call Crucible an expansion. It's more like a series of bug fixes and tweaks. The new battlecruisers are probably the only thing in Crucible that would have even been listed as a major feature in Apocrypha. That said, Crucible is a great improvement. They fixed a lot of things a lot of people have been waiting a really long time for, so it's great work from CCP, but with very little new content or substance I wouldn't really call it an expansion. If Incarna hadn't been such a disaster, I suspect Crucible type changes would just have been a patch, but they want to distance themselves from Incarna. Like somebody pointed out earlier, Crucible represents something like 6 weeks of development, where I would guess Apocrypha was more like a year of development. |

Apoc gave us wormholes; Crucible gave us POCOs.
Apoc gave us T3 cruisers; Crucible gave us cruiser-sized stealth bombers without the stealth part.
Apoc gave us rats on crack that required grouping up to fight; Crucible put more 3/10 and 4/10 DED sites to solo.
Apoc created an entire way of life and in many ways a separate game altogether; Crucible was an apology for Incarna. |

The term "best" expansion since apocrypha is misleading. Apocrypha was the last real expansion to the game. Dominion was then a "half" expansion, and every exp since then added nothing worth mentioning (crucible included).
So in a sense, Crucible is the "least sucky" expansion since apocrypha. Was it best than every other one since it? Hell yeah. Better!? No way.. it didn't even added anything new to the game, just fixed a lot of things that needed fixing before really adding new awesomeGäó stuff.
Is like installing the framework before adding the new software content. Rated ARG for Pirates. **** you. |

I think you got it backwards brosef, a lot of wow players went home after the SC nerf. It takes a carebear to horde the ISK for one, it takes a carebear to want near zero risk PVP in one. It takes a wow player to run from the game when they try to fix a class of ship in the game that's undeniably broken.
Those aren't vets by a long shot. The advantage of a bad memory is that one can enjoy the same good things for the first time several times.
One will rarely err if extreme actions be ascribed to vanity, ordinary actions to habit, and mean actions to fear. |

If talking about the 'BMW' (new one) MINI then you are correct, if talking about the 'Morris, Leyland, Austin, Rover' (original shape) Mini then you are gravely mistaken.
On topic : Apocrypha wins, purely on new content amount and general features over Crucibles huge 'fix list'. |
